With this app, you can target auditory discrimination, auditory closure, and phonological awareness. If you have students with CAPD or auditory processing disorders, you will definitely want to check out this app! (Carrie's Speech Corner)**** Auditory Processing Studio was created by a certified speech and language pathologist for adults and children ages 7 and up who exhibit Central Auditory Processing Disorder or other auditory processing disorders. This research-based app implements the bottom-top approach to treatment of auditory processing disorders and focuses on improving auditory processing through auditory discrimination, auditory closure, and phonological awareness activities. Users can also introduce background noise to help children or adults practice their listening skills in a noisy environment. Auditory Processing Studio employs a bottom-top approach. To complement this app, speech pathologists may consider Auditory Workout, another app developed by Virtual Speech Center, which targets the top-down approach to auditory processing disorder. Someone has to sit with him, and mark each answer correct or incorrect. As a parent with two other young children, I wish I’d known this before paying $30 for this app, as I thought this was something he could do on his own for 15-20 minutes a day. Also, when you “select all” for the lessons covered, it closes out of the app completely. I’m giving 2 stars only because the concept is great, but the price is too much for what you actually get. Doesn't work, no customer service *2015-04-03* I recently purchased this app for use in auditory discrimination training to enhance auditory processing. When I opened the app, I found that it was not suitable for the required tasks and lacked the flexibility of functionality that would make it useful. Given it was an expensive app I contacted them for a refund, but they refused to help, nor will Apple assist me. 100% waste of money, suggest you avoid the app and the developer. Meanwhile, I did find an app that works reasonably well and is based on research.
