I stumbled upon this app while browsing on my Apple TV. It appealed to me because I thought the settings for the Scenes included the art as a screen saver/display to complete the ambiance of light and sound. In addition, once you’ve selected a Scene, it will not continue to control your lights or play the audio if you leave the app, as in “Play in the Background.” ### 2/5 — Stopped working *2023-10-31* Expensive lightbulbs. They worked for a while, creating different colors and cool ambience, but then they stopped working and I cannot figure out how to get them hooked back up. With 2 lights, the quality of your ‘beautiful dynamic scenes’ is impossible to test and there is no indication of the wider functionality i.e. ability to create rooms/zones, how many zones etc? The App Store is full of poor quality, badly designed, money-making apps for Philips Hue and in my view, app developers should provide a free version that gives a good demonstration of an app before they expect people to upgrade, which at the moment Aura does not do. ### 4/5 — Needs handoff capability *2022-01-19* I just got this app today and I absolutely love it. I will definitely be using it. What I noticed, however, and why I gave it four stars, is that I can’t seem to make the app play through my HomePods. I already tried it a few times and I couldn’t make it work. I’m going to try it again, but if this is a limitation of the app I hope you’ll fix it. ### 1/5 — Lacking LIFX Control *2022-01-15, version 3.2.1* The app showed my LIFX bulbs. I toggled the switch to enable bulbs and activated various scenes. My bulbs didn't respond at all. I tried A19 bulbs and LIFX Z strip. It might be worth noting I use a Netgear Orbi mesh wifi network. Thy turn on, although you choose th bulbs to work with the app and then control ALL of them together regardless of ehether you want them on. So if you have 32 lightbulbs, all 32 of them are gonna turn on and change color and strangely they’re gonna stay on for the rest of your life. Right that’s some smart thinking because guess what folks you can’t turn them off you’ve gotta go back and use your manual power switch or a switch that you purchased separately or the app that came with well not this one that’s for sure so somebody needs to go back to kindergarten and figure out how to turn. The light switches on and off and generally get a grip on how it is that people use products. Some themes don’t have a sound but most have beautiful artwork and music. Would most likely purchase after an update. It’s a great idea that I’d love to see expanded. Very well done. I won’t pay a yearly fee for any app. This one is upgradable for a reasonable one time price! It also has a soft flickering candle light which I really wanted. The design is simple and very elegant. The music and sound of the forest or a fireplace are top notch. The only setting that’s not very well done is the lightning setting. The flashes are too long and they don’t sink with the the audible lighting/thunder. There’s another dedicated lightning app that does it way better.
