### 1.3.9 — 2026-09-02

Live webcams. There is a new Webcam tab with two cameras pointed at the
South Iceland sky, streaming from Landhotel near Hella. The still on each
card refreshes on its own, and tapping a camera opens the live stream full
screen. A camera gathers light over a long exposure while your eyes cannot,
so a faint arc often reads clearly on screen first — which makes this a
quick, honest look at what the sky is doing before you decide whether to
drive anywhere. Both cameras belong to Landhotel and are shown with their
permission.

Community photos now show where they were taken, under the author's name.

Notifications no longer arrive in a pile. Three separate causes were fixed,
so an active night sends a sensible number of alerts instead of a burst.

Hestheimar has a Book now button, like the other guesthouses.

Tours are ranked more honestly: promotions that have already expired no
longer push a tour up the list.

### 1.3.8 — 2026-08-27

Two new viewing spots: Hestheimar, a guesthouse with cottages and hot tubs on the dark plains near Hella, and Reykjafjarðarlaug, a free geothermal pool at the head of a quiet Westfjords fjord. That makes 137 spots in all.
Tour listings are accurate again — we went back through every operator's own page and corrected prices and booking links, fixed the season dates on several tours, and removed two that are no longer running.
"Book tonight" now only suggests tours you could actually head out on tonight, instead of museums or multi-day packages.
Road warnings for routes open only to mountain vehicles now appear in your own language, and are flagged at the severity they deserve.
 Better contrast in light mode, so small labels are easier to read.
 Assorted fixes, translation touch-ups, and stability improvements.

• A cleaner home screen — the banner ad at the top of the feed is gone, replaced by a simple option to go ad-free if you'd like to.
• New viewing spot: Landhotel near Hella, a countryside hotel with free aurora wake-up calls and live sky cameras all winter.
• The map loads faster — sighting photos on map pins now use small thumbnails, so pins fill in quicker and use less data.
• A refreshed welcome, now set against the northern lights.
• Comment sheets sit clearly above the post they belong to, so they're easier to read.
• Assorted fixes, translation touch-ups, and stability improvements.

Borðeyri, Illugastaðir, Guðrúnarlaug and Grábrók, each with its own photo

• Easier access to the ad-free upgrade, plus stability fixes.
