### 2/5 — No alerts

*2026-07-04, version 2.14.4*

The information I get is historical. About what has happened . I’d like an app that predicts that in a few hours there will be a visible aurora.

### 4/5 — Removed most useful function

*2026-06-16, version 2.14.4*

Original Comment: They’ve removed the cloud cover option on the map so this is no longer useful
After Developer Response: This is so frustrating - here in the UK this MetOffice data should be more freely available especially for apps like this. So inaccurate to say ‘they’ve removed the feature’ it’s clearly not viable to provide it now which is not the developers fault. Thanks for the explanation review star rating put up from an incredibly frustrated 1 to an empathetic 4

### 3/5 — Map

*2026-05-15, version 2.14.4*

Where has the weather overlay gone from the map

### 4/5 — Amazing, but big bug needs fix

*2026-03-31, version 2.14.2*

It was good for looking at the clouds, and determining the clarity of the sky for astronomy etc. Now the clouds are frozen in time and don’t change. Please fix
Thank you for an accurate and decent app, but this bug causes issues.

### 2/5 — Never sends alerts

*2026-03-22, version 2.14.2*

I’ve missed the aurora so many times as the app hasn’t send me a notification when the red alert is on - even though I have changed the settings.

### 3/5 — Seems okay

*2026-03-22, version 2.14.2*

Would be much better if I could set alarm limits.
Why would I care about aurora at 3pm?

Other than that seems fine, haven’t used it much yet.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2026-03-21, version 2.14.2*

### 2/5 — Meh

*2026-02-26*

You have to pay for alerts but good

**Developer response:** Thank you for using AuroraWatch UK.

The app is free to download and there is no charge for alerts.

I’d really appreciate you reaching out to me support@aurorawatchapp.uk and explaining where you are paying for alerts?

### 5/5 — AuroraWatch Makes Dreams Come True! 😃

*2026-02-20, version 2.14.2*

I dreamed about seeing the Northern Lights since I was a small child but always imagined that I’d have to go to the Artic Circle to experience this. Thanks to AuroraWatch and its accurate traffic light style alerts I have been able to witness this on my own front doorstep in the east of England!

I have one slight concern though that since my iPhone did the latest update, I don’t seem to be getting the notifications. Any advice from tech appreciated.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-02-07, version 2.14.2*

Love that can see it in Scotland but was brilliant when it finally alerted to way down south a couple of years ago. Love the cameras in Scotland

### 5/5 — Informative

*2026-02-05, version 2.14.2*

As long as the sky is clear I’ve captured good results after receiving red alerts for the displays.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not alerting

*2026-04-04, version 2.14.2*

Not alerting when other apps do (Northern Scotland).

### 1/5 — Waste of Time

*2026-03-05, version 2.14.2*

Unfortunately when I started chasing aurora I only had this one app because I assumed all the apps used the same data and were probably all more or less the same, but they’re not. I wasted about 2 years with this app during the solar maximum and I never got to see the aurora despite many attempts.

The problem is that it alerts you too late and doesn’t give you any information about space weather or long term, or even short term forecasts so that you can be ready when auroras are likely to occur.

The only apps that I recommend are SpaceWeatherLive and the Glendale apps. With these apps I am now having lots of success and can make accurate predictions so I am better prepared for when auroras occur. The Glendale app is not on the App Store, it’s a web app, you have to Google it.

SpaceWeatherLive is great for observing solar events and making long term predictions for auroral activity. The Glendale app is great for making short term predictions and tracking substorm activity in real time in the form of a graph. AuroraWatch UK supposedly tracks the aurora in real time too, but the difference is it doesn’t tell you anything about the arriving IMF which would give you about 1/2 an hour to an hour’s heads up to whether or not a substorm is likely to start so that you can be prepared and get to your spot and be ready.

In my experience AuroraWatch UK is always the last app to give me an alert, and it’s usually by the time I’m already out photographing the aurora and it’s already well under way or sometimes it’s already over. So I just deleted it because there’s no point in having it.

Sorry for the bad review but I just want people to be able to see the aurora without wasting as much time and effort as I have using this app.

### 1/5 — If you are green colourblind dont bother

*2026-01-19, version 2.14.2*

It's a great app until you look at the map, land is green and aurora is green also, why is this?!
Must by unusable to people with green colour blindness and it's confusing to those without.
Sort this issue and it's a 4 start rating!

### 1/5 — Poor indicator

*2026-01-10, version 2.14.2*

I use other apps too. Due to heavy cloud cover the Aurora is not possible to see. But your app says it can be see by eye all over UK. Geo activity is insufficient data for likelihood of a sighting

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-01-10, version 2.14.2*

This app has me running up and down with alerts, not seen 1 Aurora yet

### 1/5 — Beware built in scam

*2025-07-18, version 2.13.0*

AVOID AT ALL COSTS This app has links where you can easily unintensionally be subscribed to booksguidee.com which takes a 1 penny for a 1 day trial then steals £29 the next day then they block your email from getting through after they say they will give you money back.

### 1/5 — Always late

*2025-04-05, version 2.13.0*

Always send the alert hours after the event

### 1/5 — Never seems to be accurate for where we live

*2025-03-12, version 2.13.0*

As above!

### 1/5 — Thoughts

*2025-03-12, version 2.13.0*

Any alerts I get are at same time as the aurora is happening therefore unlikely to catch it and also alerts can only be given for Shetland not further south

### 1/5 — No forecast

*2025-02-10, version 2.12.0*

Doesn't give enough advanced warning to make it worthwhile - alerts frequently arrive in the middle of the night
