## What is Auslese?

Auslese is an RSS reader that doesn't create more work for you. Instead of an inbox with hundreds of unread articles, you get a calm, limited briefing every day: the top stories and a selection that suits you. Whatever doesn't fit waits neatly bundled – and quietly moves to the archive over time.

No unread counts. No red badges. No guilt.

YOUR BRIEFING
• Top Stories: what your news sources are covering together right now – ranked by how many sources pick up a story, not by clicks.
• For You: a limited selection based on your interests. Varied, with only a few articles per source and no five takes on the same topic.
• More: everything else, bundled by source – there when you want it, never in the way.
• Why am I seeing this? Every article shows why it made the cut: "5 sources reporting", "Matches Self-Hosting" or "Similar to what you read".

READING WITHOUT DISTRACTION
• A clean reader view without ads, pop-ups or trackers.
• "In Short": on devices with Apple Intelligence, Auslese summarizes articles in three or four sentences in English – even articles in other languages – right on your device, no cloud. Can be turned off.
• Same story from several sources? One tap shows you who else is reporting.
• Save articles, share them or find them again in the archive – full-text search finds everything.

QUICK TO SET UP
• Pick topics like tech, self-hosting, science, cooking or cycling and add matching sources from the catalog – English and German.
• Local news for regions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
• Add your own sources by link: Auslese finds the feed for you, even for YouTube channels, Mastodon and Bluesky profiles or subreddits.
• OPML import and export – your subscriptions belong to you.

THE APP TIDIES UP WITH YOU
• Every source gets a fitting lifetime: breaking news fades after hours, essays stay for days.
• If you rarely read a source anymore, Auslese occasionally suggests unfollowing it or showing only highlights. You always decide.
• Hide paywalled articles – or show them per source if you have a subscription.
• Ads and deal posts never make it into the briefing.

READ IN PEACE
• While you read, the list doesn't rearrange itself. New articles wait at the bottom for a tap.
• Briefing widget for your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
• For iPhone and iPad, in light and dark appearance.
• Two designs to choose from: "Calm" – simple and understated – or "Vivid" with color and large image cards.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no server, no analytics, no tracking, no ads.
• Everything Auslese learns about your interests stays on your device.
• Optional: back up your sources and settings end-to-end encrypted in your own iCloud and sync saved articles between your devices.

Auslese is free and available in English and German.
