### 3/5 — Okay!

*2018-12-04, version 2.4.0*

A lot of people on here have not travelled much outside of their own worlds ... I know people who still use almost all of these - generally outside of the main cities, but also within Melbourne.
Just because you are a young Aussie doesn’t mean that everything you and your friends say is all there is to Australia. So I like the idea and its not a bad app. But too many adds!!!!!
Also there are variations around Australia so some reviewers are going off their own personal experience of these words - which just isn’t canon because its the way you use it!
But having said that I know every word that I have seen so far and I know some of the definitions might be a bit skewed depending on where you come from.
eg: Dinky Di means something that is the real thing, the real deal, a ‘dinky di Aussie’ is a real Aussie. But the app says ‘something good’ which is like 20% of its meaning ... and there are a few others like that.
So in the same way that reviewers think their definitions are ‘right’ I feel like the app creators may have gone on their own tangents a little.
But how do you really get a good definition for ‘slang’ it’s language outside of the normal rules, so its different across states, ages and economic groups.
I think this app does a fair job of getting close on most of them.

### 2/5 — Well...

*2018-03-23, version 2.4.0*

Honestly, it’s cool and all but I have a few complaints. For starters, most of the phrases I have never heard in my life and are very very old school. Also, there are so many ads. I completely understand needing to get a profit off them and stuff but it is very annoying. It’s still an ok app though.

### 4/5 — Sooooo funny!

*2017-11-16, version 2.4.0*

Great app to learn easily great aussie slang. I’d have given a 5 star if a list of expressions would be accessible. But the app shows you only expressions randomly.

### 3/5 — Quite good

*2017-06-29, version 2.4.0*

Quite good

### 1/5 — I hate it

*2017-04-11, version 2.2.3*

I had the old one which now just crashes each time I try to open it and it was way better.

This one from the horrible colors/colours , the useless ways the adds are displayed to the organization of the card action is terrible.

I preferred the list style as I could scroll to whatever I didn't know in the previous version. Flipping the cards is frustrating and adds are annoying.

My biggest gripe is the colors. Too harsh on the eyes.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2017-03-06, version 2.1*

Difficult to use, inaccurate. How do you search for a word if you don't know what the word is. Part of the fun of an Aussie slang book is to read it surely. Maybe I just can't figure out how to use it. Hence my point.

### 1/5 — Not impressed.

*2017-02-16, version 2.2.3*

It's nice that an app was created to understand our Aussie slang. Sad thing is that it was executed poorly, very little of your translations are correct. Maybe come to Australia & actually learn it.

### 2/5 — Good but buggy

*2016-10-16, version 2.2.3*

The info is great but it won't stay open long on iOS. I had this about a year ago and had the same problem. I downloaded it again in the hopes that it would be fixed. It's still the same.

### 3/5 — Apps is good

*2016-10-08, version 2.2.3*

Trying to learn some slangs...

### 3/5 — Ok

*2016-07-10, version 2.2.3*

This App is very good in the way of what It's meant to do. It's easy to use and very accurate. My one problem is that the app automatically shuts itself down after a few seconds of playing. Im not sure if its just me but I havent played much due to this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Should have not bought it

*2025-07-15, version 2.4.0*

Made the mistake of buying the app to improve my understanding of aussie slangs. It is good that it pops every morning but the worse thing is that when you click it, it does not go directly to the definition. Please update the app in such way and I will update my review rating.

### 1/5 — Function

*2021-03-28, version 2.4.0*

This app does not let you look up, or search a word without using a arrows to turn to next page which is not helpful at all. Need to be able to search words at random.!!!

### 1/5 — Do not use this if your coming to Australia

*2019-08-20, version 2.4.0*

Why there are a couple that are accurate
Most are absolutely ridiculous for example Boot is what a lot of people use to describe a cars trunk however if you walk up to some and say oh mate where's the bush TV they will look at you like your a dead set moron
Honestly I strongly advise you not you rely on this if your coming Australia

### 1/5 — Horrendous for education purposes

*2018-11-05, version 2.4.0*

I’m Australian and I was very displeased when I saw this app, and I’m hoping no one is using it for education purposes as they will only embarrass themselves if they come to Australia. Although me and my friend looked at it and thought it was hilarious, I’m still disappointed.

### 1/5 — Incorrect

*2018-10-02, version 2.4.0*

This app is terrible I’m Aussie and never heard of these words plus I’ve seen a lot of apps including this one that get Aussie and Irish messed up.

Highly DON’T recommend this app to anyone.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2018-02-04, version 2.4.0*

### 1/5 — Horrid!

*2017-10-11, version 2.4.0*

This app is stupid. And is incorrect most of the time and isn't very helpful for non Australians.

### 1/5 — An inadequate and unhelpful App.

*2017-08-04, version 2.4.0*

It's not what I was looking for. I cannot search a word on it, it doesn't appear to have that facility!

### 5/5 — Good

*2021-01-15, version 2.4.0*

Good on ya mate. Ya did a fantastic job but one recommendation: I suggest that you add an audio feature where the kangaroo is a button and when you press it it says the slang on the screen+the translation.thanks for taking my ideas into consideration.
