Get it together. First, you try to log in, and it tells you to use a different log in as it was not the same one you used last time you were logged in. Whats the point of having multiple login options if its going to just deny you just because its different from the first login you used. Then, when you try the different log in with MyID (the recommended one) it tells you (after going through the whole process of logging in) that your MyID identity strength isn’t high enough, once again refusing login to ATO. Wouldn’t surprise me if the developers just made the app blindfolded. ### 1/5 — More effort than it’s worth *2026-07-13, version 6.1.11* I use this app once a year and change phones every two years. Having to ring up to get an old device disconnected just so I can log in is ridiculous. This app isn’t worth the effort. ### 4/5 — Tricky set-up but good once connected *2026-07-10, version 6.1.11* Set up from the Services Australia app hit a wall of multi-website steps with codes and log-ins. As someone who once worked for them I truly know how incredibly wasteful they are when building an app and I understand how incredibly low grade and low quality applications they make. They can’t care less about this because they have this infinite source of tax money. The App is a totally disaster, constantly fails to log on for random reasons, the UI is a nightmare. This is not how my brain works. 1800 Medicare - straight connection thru i phone entry code. To fix this issue they give you a 1300 number which then they spend 30 minutes doing the most rigorous security check to then tell you they will escalate the case and someone will reach out in 5-10 business days…not that it would be sorted in that time but that they would update you. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-07-01, version 6.1.11* So frustrating! Rarely works. Full of glitches. Developers need to go back to the drawing board. Very poorly designed. Hard to follow. Feels like it was designed in the ‘90s. Not user friendly. You also have to keep “your own records” of receipts so there is ZERO point to this poorly designed app even if it did work. This is our tax dollars “hard at work”. Perhaps our government can spend $100 million to try and fix it like they “fixed” the BoM website… ### 1/5 — Can no longer log in! *2026-06-27, version 6.1.11* I went to log in to my ATO app and it takes me to log in to MyGov. So I put in my email and password and I get an error saying my details are incorrect. I checked my details and enter everything again and again I get error. I have not change my email or password so I have no idea why I keep getting an error. So I click on the link to sign in with My Digital ID. I verify the code with my digital Id but I still cannot log into myGov. I get an error saying my digital ID is not connected to MyGov so I am required to log into myGov to link my digital id. WTF I cannot log into myGov. Yet when I go into myGov app and log in with my myGov email and password I am able to log into. Why can I not log into my ATO app with the same MyGov credentials I just used? I don’t get it. Totally the opposite. Says returns processed in 10 “ working days” but months later ( 2 months +) still waiting. No updates no follow ups And ato doesn’t answer phone calls to respond to queries either. Doing thru tax agents takes 2 weeks. I got change my password and It’s not works.. ### 1/5 — Digital inequality and discrimination *2026-08-21, version 6.1.4* The decision to only support phones with newer iOSs is disappointing and feels unfair to users who cannot afford to upgrade their devices regularly. Not everyone has the financial ability to purchase the latest phone, so restricting access based on device age can disproportionately exclude lower-income users. Especially when the solution is “call us and spend 20min on the phone for the tech team to take 7-10 working days to action the ticket.” Just a terrible design all around. When I tired login to it asked to register my device, and to register I need to provide a verification code which I cannot provide because I’m not logged in. This is a dead loop !
