It is extremely difficult to use. I would not recommend it to anybody. ### 1/5 — Michael *2024-11-07* Thought I could take a photo and have the tree identified. Not possible on this app. Searched through the 50 or so recommendations/photos they provided based on my inputs and couldn’t find a suitable match. For me, this was a wasted $5.99. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2023-11-25* Thought I was buying an app that took photos….wrong….only has 311 trees and you have to scroll and identifier yourself Con **Developer response:** Hi happiness, the app description does not say you can take photos through the app I am unsure why you thought that? It has almost 370 trees not 311 and it helps you identify the trees using a key as per the description. It also has a lot of helpful information and photos showing key identifying features about each tree which you should find useful. I am sorry it did not meet your requirements. Please check the description of the app before purchasing it thanks to make sure it is what you want. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2023-10-17* Can't believe I spent 6 bucks on this. How do I get a refund? **Developer response:** Hi Mr Nathan the app has almost 370 trees with a lot of helpful information and photos showing key identifying features about each tree which you should find useful, and it is smaller than a pocket tree book and a lot cheaper than a tree book. But as this is not useful to you, please refer to the apple store policy on how to apply for a refund. ### 1/5 — Do not buy *2022-10-16* If you want help identifying a tree, this app will not help at all. **Developer response:** I am sorry to hear you were unsuccessful in identifying the trees. Please can you send me some images of the trees you were hoping to identify? As mentioned in the description, we have more than 350 trees, both native and exotic, which are commonly growing in Australia, predominantly in the NSW / Eastern Australian side. Were your trees located in these areas? ### 1/5 — Limited Tree List *2022-02-12* The database of trees is very limited, with the first 2 trees I tried to find not identified. Both trees are common, including the northern silky oak. Seems pointless to use any more. **Developer response:** Hi thanks for your comments, there are over 350 trees which focus on the common urban trees (both native and exotic) growing around Australia. These are predominantly on the eastern coast. I am sorry you feel it is limited. We are constantly adding more common native and exotic trees to the app. ### 1/5 — Firewood collectors don’t bother *2020-05-04* Not very helpful for most of the Australian species commonly used for firewood **Developer response:** Hi Dave the Australian Identification App was not created to identify firewood. I do not know why you thought this would be so, so your one star review is very unhelpful. We are always adding more trees to the app. ## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Pics of Leaves and Bark - follow up *2021-09-01* I wrote and earlier review of this app “Need more pics of leaves and bark” when I mistakenly thought that there were no pics of leaves and bark. Didn’t realise I needed to scroll across duh! Sorry. The app is great, does exactly what I need. One improvement for me would be that you can click on pics to see a full screen of the image. Pics are viewing only in the area at the top of the app, but apart from that all good! **Developer response:** Thank you for your comment and glad you found the additional images by scrolling across. We have just updated the app to include full image and a zoom-in element to the images, please make sure you update the app to get these features. ### 5/5 — Almost good *2021-07-08* So much potential, could be a quick way to ID stuff on the tip of the tongue or a learning portal for uprising arborists. Need way more detailed info on the descriptions, more leaf shape examples, place of origin or distribution and eucalyptus are mainly identified by the fruit instead of the leaf. Has most trees included. Option for automatic recognition based on photo would be interesting for a next release.
