I don't think it charged my bank 3 times but I need to check, nonetheless, it was three times I had to go through subscribing and what not. But it doesn't work properly for me. The first time the app was gutted, missing all of the infrastructure that I see now. Everything down to logging in and functionality just stripped away. Now it doesn't populate the codes necessary for any accounts so I have zero accounts associated with it. However, I'm not an idiot and can usually work my way through new software and become competant. This app is completely opaque. I have no idea how it works. I can't make it work with the one website that insists I use it -- none of the terminology is consistant, etc. Now, when I try to delete the damn thing, it seems to be operating in some sort of stealth mode and my computer can't find it to delete it. I get that it's easier to program for the "with it" crowd, but the rest of us have to survive too. ### 1/5 — Bugged *2023-05-24* App stucks on a step of suggesting buy the Plus version if you want to add new verification code. Thanks to this app, I lost access to an account already and now I have to waste time finding out if it's even possible to regain access. What happened was I had it setup first on my iPhone. Had been using it for days. I attempted to set it up on my Mac around the same time that I did with my iPhone, but I couldn't get things to sync between devices. I decided to try again about a week later. I wanted my Mac to pickup the two accounts that I setup on my iPhone, so I decided to create a test entry on my Mac, edit it, and save the changes as suggested in the FAQ. It still wouldn't pick up the accounts setup on my iPhone. I then opened the backup page on the iPhone, and after swiping down, it removed both backups that were saved on my iPhone and replaced them with the backup of the test account from my Mac. I don't understand why it would erase backups from previous dates but until it's fixed I cannot recommend this app. I was actually getting ready to move all of other accounts over to it, but now I'm glad I didn't. ### 1/5 — Why do i need to pay *2022-11-10, version 7.2.3* Unhappy about the change in service. I didn’t know what all it was capable of until I ran into a couple of difficult situations yesterday and put it through its paces. This one inexpensive Pro/Premium purchase allows everything you need, including using it on your Apple Watch, which work seamlessly at activating codes. And this app can set up codes manually and also allows importing of QR Code screenshots. Surprisingly, it works on very old versions of the Mac OS. Customer support is quite responsive in time and comprehensiveness, even on my OS 11.7. An example was when my iPhone version asked me to upgrade to Pro. I already had Pro on my Mac. So I contacted support. They responded quickly and told me to click the upgrade link on the iPhone app. That resulted in the app saying I was already upgraded and the request to upgrade went away. When recommending it to friends, tell them not to be confused with other apps named “Authenticator…”. Make sure it is created by Sentinel and/or Tommaso Carpi. ### 5/5 — THE Authenticator App worth paying for! *2025-04-22, version 9.3.4* I've used Google's free Authenticator App for years to store my 2FA tokens. Over the years I've had to change phones a couple of times and in doing so I've experienced duplicate token entries appearing for no reason and thus I've always lived in fear of 2FA tokens corrupting or deleting entirely – being locked out of any vital accounts I need to operate my business and finances would be an utter nightmare and the amount of time and hassle it would cost me makes it completely worthwhile paying/investing to remove the risk entirely: Sentinel runs on iOS and macOS and sync's my 2FA tokens across multiple devices and has backups too (all secured with apple iCloud and keychain). The one-off 'Fusion Lifetime' in-app purchase is a no-brainer given how effective it is and the QR code import feature makes it ridiculously easy to move everything over from Google in an instant.
