## What is AutoCaption?

AutoCaption turns your video into clear, styled captions you can edit, without typing a word by hand.

Pick your video, choose the caption language, and AutoCaption writes timed captions from what was said. Every word stays yours to change: fix a name, retime a line, restyle it, or move it anywhere in the frame.

Made for short-form creators, podcasters, educators, coaches and anyone whose videos need to work with the sound off.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Generate timed captions from speech automatically
- Edit every word in a caption timeline that stays in sync
- Translate captions into 40+ languages, including mixed-language speech
- Choose from 200+ caption styles, then change the font, colour, motion and position
- Animate captions word by word, or keep them calm and readable
- Put captions behind the speaker so the person stays in front
- Export a video with captions burned in, or SRT and VTT subtitle files
- Save projects and come back to edit them later

CAPTIONS THAT STAY VISIBLE
Captions are placed above the parts of the screen that apps cover with buttons and titles, so they are not hidden when you post.

YOUR VIDEO, YOUR WORDS
Your video is processed to create captions and is not used for anything else. You can delete your data at any time from Settings.

AutoCaption is free to try. Subscriptions remove the watermark and unlock longer videos. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9 — 2026-10-22

B-roll clips now load and play on iPhone. Drafts you saved open straight away. Your video keeps playing smoothly while caption styles get ready. Restore purchases on the welcome screen now checks your Apple account right away.

### 1.8 — 2026-10-21

New screenshots and a smoother editor.

Behind-the-person styles keep preparing if you switch apps for a moment, instead of stopping.

If you already have a plan, the app no longer offers you a second one.

Plus smaller fixes.

### 1.7 — 2026-10-21

CaptionLab is now AutoCaption, with a new icon.

Save or share video works again: tap it and the share sheet opens, so your finished video can go to Photos, Files or any app.

Captions open in the editor much sooner, and behind-the-person styles now prepare while your video is transcribed.

The plans screen fits on one screen and its demo plays on its own.

Plus subscription fixes and smaller improvements.

### 1.5 — 2026-10-07

Explore 16 new caption styles, including behind-person effects. Add contextual B-roll across your video with one tap, then replace or remove individual clips. This update also improves saved-video handling and introduces an optional annual offer during onboarding.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-12

- Clearer subscription pricing: the amount you are billed is now the most prominent price on the plan screen, with the billing period stated next to it and again above the buy button.
- Corrected the subscription prices listed in this App Store description so they match the prices shown in the app.
- The caption timeline now loads thumbnails reliably, and falls back to a scrubbable time bar instead of an error if a video cannot be read.
- Fixed a caption style whose largest words could be clipped at the edge of the frame.
- Product demos on the welcome, onboarding and plan screens now play automatically.
