### 3/5 — Absturzgefahr…aber sonst toll.

*2024-01-08*

Ich habe sie geliebt und oft benutzt, mit eigenen Tunings versehen etc. Aber jetzt kam der Absturz. Die App ließ sich nicht mehr öffnen.🤔Neustart nix genutzt. Also dout, der Vogel…🫣.
Bei der Neuinstallation gehen alle Custombemühungen perdue.
Schade. Für den professionellen Einsatz mir jetzt zu heikel.
Bitte mehr Stabilität! Dann 5 Sterne.

### 4/5 — Amazingly expressive and richer sounds but no integration

*2020-08-29, version 2.2.8*

I’ll give this five stars if it had any way of being able record the audio in GarageBand as an audio unit or in Audiobus.

Really rich and full sounds and fully customisable. So for example I created a customer set of chords for the circle of fifths.

### 2/5 — Drains batteries big time

*2018-09-04, version 2.2.6*

I have an iPhone SE and couldn't figure out why my battery was draining so dramatically, even with apps closed, wifi off, background refresh off etc. Finally deduced the main recent change was downloading this app. Deleted the app, things are back to normal now.

### 3/5 — Buttons too small for iPhone

*2017-08-20, version 2.2.5*

Nice samples, but the small buttons make it impossible for me to play. I just keep getting a mess of every note as though I'm touching no buttons at all. It probably works better on an iPad.

### 4/5 — I like it.. It's a lot of fun.

*2014-10-01, version 2.2.3*

This app works well and the volume is great, but the buttons could be easier to hit.

### 4/5 — Potential but needs some updates

*2014-06-01, version 2.2.3*

This thing has potential to be an absolutely fantastic MIDI controller, but it needs to be easier to reconfigure the chord buttons.

### 4/5 — I figured it out!

*2013-04-12, version 2.1.5*

If I change the layout before I do anything else it works. Still a little twitchy but will do it with patience. Fun to play with.

### 5/5 — Wonderful "experiential" app

*2013-01-16, version 2.1.5*

I played the Autoharp in school. And they have captured the "look and feel" of the real thing. Clever stuff.

### 5/5 — An absolute delight!

*2012-11-05, version 2.1.4*

This app will charm you and your listeners as well. The sound is crisp and utterly autoharpy (thank you, Mr. Fishman!), and on the magnified setting (the little plus sign), with your I-pad laid on its side, it's easy to finger chords and strum. Using this app reminds me very much of the Suzuki Q-Chord, which is billed as an "electronic autoharp." That device costs around $250!

Tablatures (chord structures for given songs) are readily available on the web. Try this, friends, and be surprised at how much fun you can have for a buck.

### 5/5 — fantastical app

*2012-07-31, version 2.1.3*

I was after a midi controller that would allow me to strum pre-programmed chords and happen to find this app. It turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving! sounds great by itself with lovely autoharp samples. The fact that the some of the notes are stopped when you change chords is clearly not a bug but is the way a real autoharp would react. I had a few technical problems which had nothing to do with the app itself (like setting up wifi midi) and the technical support I received was both really speedy and completely spot on. Works like a charm with no latency. Finally, I can write songs at work ;-)

### 5/5 — Great app - well designed and implemented

*2012-07-17, version 2.1.3*

This is a great app - a very full feature set out of the box, plus some add-ons you can get with in-app purchases if you're keen.

I haven't got any of the extras, and I'm very happy with the app as is. The "show active strings" option is brilliant - helps strumming enormously. The sound is excellent - I especially like the dynamic range of the touch sensitive strings.

Worth the purchase - and a lot of fun to play.

### 2/5 — Full of bugs

*2012-05-09, version 2.1.1*

This app is still very choppy and full off bugs!

### 4/5 — Very good

*2012-04-25*

Great sounds, very realistic. It is annoying how you have to strum the virtual strings to get a sound. It would be nice if the developers changed the app so that you can tap the strings if you want a single string to sound.

### 5/5 — Incredible app. Thank you.

*2012-04-14, version 2.1.1*

Own and play countless real guitars, mandolins, ukes as well as several autoharps. Have over forty music apps. If this does not sound and play like an autoharp to you, please either try better headphones, go get your ipad or iphone or ears or head checked. This app is extraordinarily good.

### 5/5 — Best. Ios. Virtual. Instrument.

*2012-04-14, version 2.1.1*

Even without audio copy paste, without record without soundcloud, mp4 or wav save, or dswifimidi this is as close to a perfect musical app as imaginable. Please work on connectivity and additional midi and audiio connectivity. It looks plays and sounds exactly like an autoharp!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — chord buttons way too hard to control

*2021-09-06, version 2.2.8*

not sure if the chord buttons are not well supported on size of iphone 12 pro max but impossible to play this with any accuracy☹️

### 1/5 — Too limited

*2021-07-04, version 2.2.8*

The least I would have expected would be for major and minor chords to be available in all 12 keys, this is pretty useless musically

### 1/5 — Key size too small

*2019-12-21, version 2.2.8*

The chord keys on this app are too small and so far I haven’t found a way to make them bigger.

### 1/5 — Not even funny

*2012-08-12, version 2.1.3*

Try this - take your expensive iPhone or IPad out if it's case, hold it over a hard concrete or tiled floor - and drop it.
OR you can achieve the same musical satisfaction by downloading this app.
I don't really begrudge the loss of the money as much as the 30 seconds stolen from my life while this totally unfunny, unmusical, inoperable app downloaded.

### 1/5 — No resemblance to an autoharp

*2012-04-13, version 2.1.1*

I play the autoharp. This doesn't sound like one at all.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2012-02-08, version 2.1*

Doesn't do anything when I strum. How do I fix this?

### 1/5 — Well it looked nice

*2012-01-07, version 2.0.1*

The strings are NOT working. I have tried everything, hopefully you can fix this. Ughh!!!

### 1/5 — Autoharp

*2012-01-05*

Mena culpa.... fonctionne parfaitement...en purgeant la mémoire de l'image....

### 1/5 — Autoharp

*2011-12-30, version 2.0*

The program doesn't work, save your money!

### 1/5 — Não funciona!

*2011-12-29*

Não funciona!, não há o que se faça pra sair som, não gastem seu dinheiro com essa enganação!

**Developer response:** If you see a problem, please contact us directly so we can look into it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Really fun, and such a pretty sound!

*2025-09-22*

Nice job on the latest version! I like the way the autoharp is now positioned against a background because when it previously filled the screen I ran into frequent trouble with accidentally swiping the app away when strumming. 😂 Now I have a little room to overshoot. Also the gear icon no longer gets in the way. Well done! I have a lot of fun with this app. It makes a lovely sound, natural enough to record with, even, and it’s addictive to fidget with. I’ve also learned a lot from it in terms of chord transitions and tritone substitutions. I also LOVE that this FREE app is NOT collecting any of my personal data! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗💕

### 5/5 — Super, mit Liebe zum Detail

*2019-10-11*

Die App ist mit Liebe zum Detail gemacht und funktioniert einwandfrei. Perfekt um im Backround zu Üben, Songs zu schreiben und sich mit dem Instrument Autoharp vertraut zu machen. Würde sie wieder kaufen 👍

### 5/5 — Bravo Arlo! Well done app

*2016-01-09, version 2.2.4*

Great sound, with a fine bit of coding to digitize an acoustic musical instrument.
I bought this to add onto an iPad that I gave my dear Mom — she’s always wanted an autoharp but isn’t very musical. This helped her engage with the iPad and feel comfortable with technology. I’m buying the washboard app next!

### 5/5 — Maia and the search for top end sparkle

*2015-02-04, version 2.2.3*

Whilst being shut up in the hole that is our recording studio, we were in desperate need of some sprangly textures.

I trawled the App Store, and this app saved our day.

All the top end sparkle you will ever need.

### 5/5 — Really playable autoharp!

*2014-03-19, version 2.2.3*

I was amazed at how easy this autoharp is to configure and play. I can even manage melody playing with it! By setting the instrument to left handed mode with reversed keys, I'm able to play it easily while holding my iPad in front of me in my lap. It sounds quite good too! It's a good idea to set it to leave buttons pressed. I've now bought the add-on that let's me configure the chords and layout and it works well too.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2014-02-05, version 2.1.5*

I have had two autoharps for a number of years and finally decided to make a concerted effort to learn to play them. I have both a 15 chord and a 21 chord so I was happy to see that I could play both with this app. I am currently learning to pick melodies and the "Show Active Strings" feature is really helpful in learning scales. Another great practice feature is that I can attach my earbuds and practice silently so those that may be around aren't bothered.

I've only played with this app a little bit so far but I haven't discovered any negatives at this point. I love the sound and the features. I would highly recommend this app for anyone interested in the autoharp.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2014-01-19, version 2.1.5*

Simply one of the best apps I've ever found. Clean sound. Sensitive response. Exactly what I needed for my recording project. I plugged my iPhone into my mixer, clicked record on Sonar X1 and recorded a series of strums. Gorgeous!

### 5/5 — Lots of fun!

*2013-09-28, version 2.1.5*

I am really enjoying this app! I have lots of stringed instruments but never got an autoharp because I didn't need another instrument to tune - so this fits the bill. I got both of the upgrades and will be trying out different chord configurations. The only suggestion I have is that it would be nice if on the enlarged screen the names of the notes for the selected chords could be listed next to the strings - this would be a big help in playing in melody/chord style. Thanks for such a great app - this will be lots of fun when camping.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2013-06-03, version 2.1.5*

I was thinking about getting an autoharp and learning how to play. I love that I was able to get this app and try out a realistic version without investing hundreds of dollars. I love playing the app (the most portable autoharp in the world) and I almost don't need a wooden one.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2013-03-23, version 2.1.5*

I was looking for an Autoharp app I could use until I could have my Autoharp restrung. I love this app so much, I still haven't had my dead strings replaced on the real deal. I especially like it on the iPhone. It's with you all the time and the screen interface feels very well set up for strumming patterns. I like it on the iPad too, but the strings seem backwards from my real Autoharp on the iPad interface. If you want to use this app in a performance or jam with other people, you can get an external speaker or a cable to plug into your amp.
