## What is Automatic?

One habit. Sixty-six days. Made automatic.

Automatic is a habit app built on the science of how habits actually form: one tiny daily action, anchored to something you already do, grown over a 66-day arc until it runs on its own. Halo — the little sun who lives inside the app — plans it with you, reads you the best books ever written on getting better, and notices when a hard day is coming.

TELL HALO YOUR GOAL, IN YOUR OWN WORDS
Type what you want to do, with your real numbers and where you're starting. Halo builds a plan that keeps your exact figures, attaches it to one of your real daily anchors, and maps all 66 days — smaller than the goal at first, bigger than it by day 60. Adjust with a comment; Halo changes only what you asked.

TODAY, MADE OBVIOUS
Every morning: today's version of your habit, one line of journaling, a short lesson, and a tiny foundation nudge for body and mind. Check it off and watch the day count climb. If your habit has pieces, tick them one at a time — a partial day still counts, and the app says so.

GROW — 201 BOOKS, DISTILLED
Atomic Habits, Deep Work, Can't Hurt Me, Why We Sleep, The Body Keeps the Score, Nonviolent Communication, The Psychology of Money, Sapiens, Do What Matters, and nearly two hundred more — habits, focus, mindset, discipline, fitness, food, money, relationships, creativity and calm. More than 1,500 lessons, each with its own drawn cover, an animated graphic, and a quote you can keep.

Every lesson is an original summary written in our own words, and quotes are paraphrased and marked "after" their author. Automatic is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the authors or publishers.

Read them, or let Halo read them to you — on the lock screen, in the car, with the screen off. A quiet bell tells you when there is a quick question about what you just heard, and the book keeps playing either way. Search everything in plain language: "that quote about 1% better" finds it.

A JOURNAL THAT KNOWS WHAT TODAY IS
The prompt is built from your day, your habit, your cue, and the lesson on deck. Everything you write feeds Halo's insights later.

EARNED INSIGHTS
Halo's honest portrait of you at day 7. Your arc review at day 21. A letter at the halfway mark. Earned, never given.

HALO, YOUR COACH
Ask Halo anything. Five coaching voices, from gentle to drill sergeant — each with its own tone, its own look, and its own speaking voice. Hard-day radar watches your weak window and shows up before you slip.

APPLE WATCH
Check off from your wrist.

WIDGETS
Your streak — flame, count, and the last seven days — on your Home Screen. Your book and today's mission on the Lock Screen. A new quote every day.

SOCIAL — A FIRST LOOK
The Social tab shows what we're building: groups for what you're working on, posts under your name or anonymously, upvotes. It is not open yet — tap "Notify me" and we'll tell you when it is.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-09-05

Every book now has its own cover.

All 201 books are drawn by hand - no two alike. The 50 newest ones were the last still sharing a generic motif, and now they aren't.

Deeper lessons. Books used to start out distinct and end up sounding alike, because every lesson closed the same way. Over 900 lessons now carry a section on what that book actually argues in its own world - the studies it rests on, the objections it answers, who it is arguing against - alongside the part that brings it back to you. There are about 370 new lessons on top of that.

The listening fixes that mattered most:
- Books no longer stop mid-play. A question you skipped by pressing play could leave the book paused for good; it can't now.
- The spoken heads-up plays in full, in the narrator's own voice, and the bell no longer talks over its opening words.
- The second question in a lesson is no longer swallowed, and its answers are no longer cut off mid-sentence.
- Pausing during an announcement actually pauses.

Search runs off the main thread, so typing in Grow doesn't stutter.

Plans are available in the app for the first time. Start with a week of Gold on us, then keep it free with ads, or choose a plan.

Blocking the apps that pull you away is built and waiting on Apple's approval of the permission it needs. It is not in this version, and the Focus screen says so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-03

Listening, fixed properly.

• With your screen off, a question now actually reaches you: a bell rings, the narrator's own voice tells you one is waiting, and the book keeps playing. It explains itself for the first couple of lessons in a book, then the bell alone says it.
• Rewind past a question you never answered and it comes back around.
• Resume exactly where you stopped — on every voice, not just the studio one.
• Lessons show how far you got: a sun that fills as you listen.
• Your shelf leads with the book you actually read last, and Today's pick continues it.

Also in this one
• Share a book and the link opens that book, with its real cover in the preview.
• Keep the quotes you like — a Ray button on the lesson card, in the player, and on the quote of the day. Your kept Rays now come back if you reinstall.
• A new book: Do What Matters by Teresa McCloy.
• A way back out of every setup screen.
• The tab bar no longer blinks when you switch tabs.
• Focus sessions keep counting when you leave the screen.
• Dozens of smaller fixes across audio, widgets and the Watch.
