### 4/5 — Great app

*2020-06-08, version 2.6*

Great app for learning. Wish I could stream it to my TV though.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2019-05-11*

I am an avid pathology and mortuary fan. I enjoy this app because it allows me to see the behind the scenes of a live autopsy. Very informative... great learning tool!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2019-05-08*

Excellent and informative cases. A lot of respect for patients. Also the developer on Instagram replies wicked fast and answers all questions. Only thing that needs improvement is how smooth the app feels and looks. Content is great, feel needs improvement.

**Developer response:** Agreed. We made a recent change in reponse to some questions on social media that sacrificed the feel for some practical shout outs. But that might not be necessary and a bit too hasty to be of "service" to some inquiries. We've taken them down and will find a new spot for them. It should return the color scheme and general organization -- and hopefully the feel. See what you think and let us know. Or message us if you can point out a specific recommendation or place we could improve. Thank you.

### 4/5 — Enjoying the app!!

*2019-05-07*

I downloaded this app through a social media segment. I always had interest in autopsies since I wanted to pursue this career. I enjoy watching each case, it’s educational, the physician is a professional. I don’t have much to complain about, I’m really enjoying the app.

### 5/5 — Autopsy

*2019-04-27*

I really like the content on this app. For those of us that are curious to see what an autopsy encompasses, and for only $2.99 you can’t beat it.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-04-22*

I am obsessed with pathology and mortuary science so when I saw this, I immediately downloaded it. I’m so glad I did! There are quizzes and cases for you to watch to learn more about the human body. Every case is different and they will send you a notification if they are LIVE. While LIVE, you can ask the pathologist questions during the autopsy in real-time. Whether you are a student, doctor, or simply a person who lives for this stuff (like me), it is perfect for you!

**Developer response:** Aw, thanks. Keep us posted on anything we can do better.

### 5/5 — Very Grateful for You Guys

*2019-01-27*

As the title says, I’m very grateful for getting to be as involved as this. I’m someone who’s always had a fascination with this stuff and all the knowledge that’s around it, but as an art student who’s not so good with numbers or science, i know that I’d never get to be in this profession. No cadaver labs to visit around me either.

What’s a girl gotta do to learn! Keep it up! You have my full support!

**Developer response:** Thanks! Stay tuned for more content.

### 3/5 — So far so good!

*2018-12-23, version 2.4*

So far that app has been great. Lots of information. Can’t wait to spend more time on it. Very user friendly.

### 5/5 — Best App By Far!!

*2018-12-23*

By far my favorite. I wish I would have found about this app sooner. Very educational! They even do live videos and will answer any question you have. 10/10!!!!

### 3/5 — Whooa!

*2018-11-19*

I love this app! I’m a huge science nerd, especially when it comes to human anatomy and how someone died. So I was thrilled when I came across your Instagram page that lead me to the app! You explain what you’re doing and why very through. The only complaint, I feel as if I need to pop a couple Meclizine before watching. All the back-and-forth of your head moving makes it hard to watch. Perhaps, you can attach the tilt camera to hang down on your chest...just a thought.
Great job! Keep the videos coming!

**Developer response:** Thank you. Glad you like the app. Appreciate the feedback and the suggestion.

### 5/5 — Almost like being there

*2018-04-06*

For anyone with an interest in the medical field this is excellent! It's the next best thing to being there. Dr Ben Margolis is excellent in all the hats he wears. Coroner, investigator, commentator and director. He's very informative about what he's doing in any given video but he talks in a language that novices can understand without being to simple for experienced medical folks watching.
I highly recommend this app and Dr Margolis.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Wasted Money

*2025-07-27, version 2.7*

Don’t waste your money on this app. They haven’t updated it in 4 years. No new content and no detailed explanations. Please save your money.

### 1/5 — Couldn’t get the app to load

*2020-06-04*

Excitedly Bought this app for 99cents about an hour ago. It’s still on the main white screen with black letters and a loading symbol you can only see when it goes across the very top of the black letters, just barely.

**Developer response:** Thank you. Please contact us at app@autopsychicago.com so we can troubleshoot with you.

### 1/5 — App not loading

*2020-05-03*

The app stops loading in the discussion part, can not go any further.

**Developer response:** Updated: We escalated this to the developer and addressed the issue. Please uninstall and re-install (it will not charge you twice); and let us know how it goes. Thanks for letting us know: Original: Thanks let me take a look. Please reach out to app@autopsychicago.com so I can troubleshoot with you.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-04-01, version 2.6*

I paid a pound and all I have is a loading screen. App doesn’t work, will change review if I can ever make it past the loading symbol.

### 1/5 — Dont waste your money

*2019-05-22, version 2.6*

This app is alright but the discussions at the end tells you nothing. Full of spelling errors too.

### 1/5 — No content

*2018-12-16*

I bought this app a little under a week ago because I saw preview video segments on social media through medical accounts. These advertisements said the app was where you could get full content as well as the desktop website. I pay for the app only to find out it’s pretty much a redirect to the desktop website and still only has one case (not even the full case) in the archive portion of the app. This was about 14 different 5 minute video segments. Now I see today that they have announced they will be taking that portion of the app down to only be on the desktop website too. This will essentially render an already empty app into a useless one.

They are also now pushing their monthly video subscription email service which costs $9.99 per month. (But don’t worry to make up for taking away all the value you bought in the app they’ll give you 6 months free of this service) what a joke. Just when I thought I found a useful medical information application that was actually interesting and informational.

**Developer response:** We do not make any advertisements like that. Our desktop site is separate. Many people feel excited about our app content and project expectations on to the app, which leads to disappointment. We're wondering if that happened here. Most people enjoy what we offer on the app and we're clear on what that is. We generously added a holiday content bonus on top of this, which we have since taken down to minimize any confusion. The desktop platform is a significant expense with subscription at the university level. However, we are happy to offer the app to the general public at this minimal cost.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2017-04-02, version 2.2*

He only posts partial videos if you want to watch the whole video you have to go to YouTube. Might as well save your dollar and watch it on YouTube. Always "upgrading" the app, and the most recent makes some windows available unable to access. I keep the app and editing my review because I paid for it. I want my dollar back.

### 2/5 — App not working

*2020-07-19, version 2.6*

Unfortunately the app isn’t working. It’s stuck on the loading screen and that’s it. I’ve uninstalled and installed again but still nothing. Shame

### 2/5 — I expected longer videos

*2019-05-19*

I would have been upset if I paid the original price, but I got it for $.99. The videos are very short (less than five minutes long) and part of the previous video (two minutes in some cases) is repeated in the next video. We also don’t get any answers in the final video. I don’t know if they did this to entice us to upgrade to the desktop version, but it leaves us hanging. At least add a text part explaining the findings & conclusions in the case.

The developer of this app seems to think that if you criticize their app or don’t praise them, you must be a disgruntled social media follower. How about looking at the criticism, make changes or just admit that what you provided was what you planned? Not every non 5 star rating is a personal hit job. Sometimes it’s just a rating.

**Developer response:** We feel this comment is "not just a rating" but harassing and a smear and have reported it. We do not manipulate or mislead our viewers and consider such negative speculation about our intentions beyond any "regular rating." There is no basis to these claims other than disappointment based on misinterpretation of language. That's out of our control. I'm glad the app is engaging enough that this user wants more. The cases are indeed interesting and we show what we can, packaged in a way most people find accessible.

### 2/5 — Great content but very user unfriendly

*2018-03-27*

Just got a notice for a live autopsy with a password. Get into the app and it wants a user ID and password. Why if it's my app on my phone do I need to do that every time? I don't even know what they are! After much screening around I find a place to put in the password given for this live event but never get to a live event. Frustrating!!!

**Developer response:** Apologies. We have removed the login. It was set accidentally on the back end. The page should be accessible for all app users now.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-05-23*

Great updates for the app, thanks. Fascinating learning about this and the app is very user friendly and respectfully done, thanks!

**Developer response:** Thank you! Please let us know if we can help with anythin at all.

### 5/5 — Format

*2019-09-27, version 2.6*

The new format is very good much nicer to navigate than the old format was it’s all to hand now

### 5/5 — Very Well Done

*2019-09-24*

The Autopsy Center of Chicago is generous enough to share with us many of their cases through this app. The content is vast, and it always has you thinking. It is not dark, morbid, scary, gross or anything negative. Whether you are looking for educational purposes or just curious, I highly recommend it! Thank you Dr. Margolis and team for taking the time to create and sharing your work with us.

### 5/5 — Love this!

*2019-09-24, version 2.6*

Not often that you get to see this side of life/death/work/science in such an accessible form. This is the first and only app I’ve ever paid for, and I’m not disappointed!! I’m learning so much from watching these videos, & they’re all done in a manner that is private and respectful toward the deceased. It helps to follow the app creator’s Instagram to learn when new parts of a series are going live! Overall, I’m thrilled to keep learning!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2019-09-15*

I absolutely love watching these videos, as does my 12-year old daughter who wants to be a Pathologist one day. They are so interesting and informative. It’s a bit like being a detective and uncovering the cause of death or other issues. By far the best app out there!! Keep the awesome videos coming!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind words! When she starts, be sure to tell your daughter's high school about our desktop teaching platform, autopsy.online.

### 5/5 — My favourite App

*2019-09-11, version 2.6*

This is my favourite app!! I’ve learned so much and find it so interesting, the Doctor makes you feel like your right in the room! I just love it and highly recommend this app

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2019-06-24*

I really enjoy learning and seeing what is actually going on. Though there hasn’t been a post in over a month, was wondering if this is finished or just on a hiatus. Hope all is well!

**Developer response:** Thank you. We have some new cases up now. It depends on family consent and the pace is variable -- part of this being "real life." Glad you like the app.

### 5/5 — By far my favorite App

*2019-05-21*

This is the first app and so far the only app I’ve purchased. I’m in school to become a PA in Pathology and it’s so awesome to see the anatomy in real time instead of out of a book all the time. I’m learning a lot of new things and I love how he answers questions and allows discussions. Great app and great job.

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2019-05-01, version 2.5*

I really love the app. A full autopsy is hard to come by on YouTube and thus Dr. gives step by step what he is doing. The only thing personally that I have an issue is the head came and constant moving of it, it was making me have awful motion sickness.

### 5/5 — Intersting

*2019-04-30*

I find this stuff interesting because they show a lot of human anatomy
