That said, I use it rarely because the user interface is really ungainly and poorly adapted to touchscreen. I hate booting up my computer and I really wish I had something usable on my iPad for CAD, but this app doesn't reach that level. Way too many clicks are required to do anything at all The whole thing is way too modal. I give 4 stars for features, 1 for usability, then round the average up to 3. ### 2/5 — Over rated *2015-01-23* Purchased this app, and put it through its paces, It all works as indicated, but at the price and with a few strange settings I was not happy with the lack of user friendliness of this product. I would recommend it, though at this very high price, there are other apps that work as well if not better and cost substantially less. ### 3/5 — Good start. What can be said is that this is not just a 3D model viewer and comes with all the tools the app description says it does. After watching the quick tutorials I was well away. Only just started but I'm very excited. Using two fingers to do anything on an iPad is ridiculous in a precision drawing; and yes I read the so called ‘user manual’. ### 1/5 — Awful UI *2017-08-12* This software has a terrible UI, so slow to access menus when there is a big empty space on the top where tools could be. Though the manual is made to appear as a comprehensive text book full of advanced instructions, it really covers only basic rendering functions - which are actually the full extent of the app. I ended up going back to Solidworks running on a desktop client and then using a remote / VDI desktop to access it from the iPad as thin client. ### 1/5 — Not worth the money!!! *2015-02-10, version 2.7.5* I'm not a pro cad user but this app is very limited. I paid the $30 to design something rather simple however it was a waste of money. The app didn't allow me to design what I needed and the user interface was very difficult. The help menu was also limited and didn't offer much help at all. The documentation is enough to open the app and draw some basic shapes but that's about it. There is no information about how to use snaps or any of the vast array of menu features - or even what most of the menu options mean. The developers have put an incredible amount of work into this app but they need to put a lot more work into the documentation before it could be regarded as anything more than a curiosity. ### 1/5 — NOT Intuitive, poor value *2014-02-08, version 2.7.1* I wish that I could actually say something nice about this application. Unfortunately, after hours of trying, I have not been able to do a single thing with it! If what you're trying to produce as only straight lines and corners then I think this might be useful for you. However the capabilities are overstated. If you have anything else that you're trying to do, like the fillets that I'm trying to add to edges of a box, just forget about trying to use this application. I've come at the problem four different ways and all have failed. Note also that there are no boolean operations. It is a pretty amazing program. I still can't figure out how to draw a pipe in three dimension yet. I'm sure I'll get it but it's not going to be an easy learning program. Don't expect to pick it up right away. I've been messing with it for three days now and am thinking I need to read the owners manual. Over all, it looks like it has some extremely high potential! ### 5/5 — Excellent *2014-03-18* Amazing great 2D 3D design creation easy to use, take 5 mins to read Getting started web page and your ready, 5 stars. ### 5/5 — Best CAD app, no contest *2014-02-23, version 2.7.2* I have been using AutoQ3D on my iPhone for almost a year and a half now. I use it to design scaled models of real buildings. I am able to design the model with the actual dimensions of the real building, and then use the scale function to make it the actual size I want the model to be. I then send the drawings to a laser cutter which cuts out the pieces to be assembled. I am able to build the structure in the app in 3D to see if all the parts are going to fit and look how I want them to look. I have played around with making 3D objects like those seen in the pictures and videos and have found the program to work as advertised, but it is not what I primarily use the app for. I have never used any CAD programs before, or anything like them. There is kind of a steep learning curve to this app. It took me a while to figure out many if not most of the functions. After having used some desktop CAD programs since, my guess is that if you are familiar with CAD functions, this app will be fairly easy to figure out. If you don't know CAD, this will still be a lot easier to learn that a "full" CAD program, but difficult nonetheless. It is not a casual drawing program. Its a powerful tool for creating DXF files on an iPhone. I've created many models and drawings to prove it, but I had to invest the time in watching the videos and researching how "normal" CAD programs work. I've looked at other apps for the iPhone and experimented around with them but the functions are very limited, and subsequently are much cheaper. This app is the only one I found that allows you to create CAD drawings. Some drawings I've made consisted of tens of thousands of lines and triangles. Yes, it ran a little choppy at that point due to the limitations of the CPU. But still impressive given the size. I wish there was more documentation for how to use the many functions. The videos are a great help, especially if you follow along. Most of what I learned was by playing around in the program and researching functions on the internet. Customer service has been amazing. The team is responsive, enthusiastic, and quick. I am pretty sure two of the updated versions were due directly to problems I brought to their attention. I've looked through the other reviews here and the poor ones seem to generally fall into two categories: One, they are unable to figure out how to use the program; and two, the functions are limited. My guess is for the first category those people don't realize how non-intuitive CAD programs are. The program works like a 'real' CAD program, but those are going to take some investment of time and frustration to learn. For the second category, I don't think they appreciate this is on an iPhone (or non-desktop computer). I have had several people remark how they can't believe my drawings were done on my phone. There are not nearly the number of functions on the app as a real CAD, but you will not find another app that has nearly the capability of this one. Bottom line is this is the best CAD app in iTunes, hands down. It is my most expensive app, but also my favorite and most valuable. I've spent hundreds of hours using it and say its well worth the money. ### 5/5 — Great!!! *2013-04-14, version 2.2.0* this app is the best!!.. For ipad it is really a powerful app for 3d modeling.. I use it to make prototypes for my business this app allows me to 3d draw parts and then send the drawing to my printer. I had some questions about using this app im not a cad drawer at all just a industrial mechanic. The support i received when i asked for help was unparalleled! The support i got told me step by step how to do what im looking to do. They answered all my questions fast, how fast you ask how about asked a question late saturday night got the answer sunday less than 24hours even on a weekend. When you need the help you have it. The app works great even for me with zero cad background. Makes great drawings that compare with the big programs that cost several thousands of dollars! I recommend this app above all other cad apps! Back mid 1990s i bought Turbo CAD for Mac. I taught myself how to use it. It was simple then and this app feels like that. Its usable. I like certain aspects such as drawing with coordinates. The 3D extrude is ok. For small drawing projects, its good. If i could post pictures I would. It might surprise you. ### 3/5 — Not the best, but a useful tool *2019-01-06* I see that the interface and usage are not intuitive like other iOS 3d cad app. But considering the price which is a one off payment not subscription. This app is like old style AutoCad, most basic Cad functions are available. I like Shapr, very intuitive and much faster，problem is Shapr is too expensive and subscription based. As an engineer who now uses this app for personal hobbies like 2/3D drawing reference, it is ok and convenient. I can always export it to Daz 3d and Fusion 360 for detailed modification. Besides, I use Forger app to sculpt Obj from AutoQ3D Cad all on iPad. So I don’t worry about serious accuracy. I have been used and using many different Cad software, so I get used to the interface easily. I believe this app not too bad, but need more polishing. TO THE DEVELOPER, any Boolean functions?
