I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because a lot of the sound effects have a clicking sound when they finish, instead of fading quietly out. The voices could say the names a little clearer. Mine is basic and it sounds like something else when the cowboy says it. Other than that, it's great! I even paid for the pro version just to take advantage of the others features. A+ ### 4/5 — Text to Voice *2011-03-01, version 7.0* I like this ringtones app. It has some decent and, perhaps, unusual sounds to choose from. But, what I like most about it is the ability to type in, as text, anything you want and that will be used as your ringtone(or use it for your alarm). And there are a dozen or more types of voices/accents to choose from. Also, when previewing preset intro rings and voices, the sounds overlap when going onto the next if you don't let the previous one finish. The update is good but it does ask you to write a review so here goes I wish you could do it all on the phone but I guess we gotta do it apples way It's still pretty easy but maybe could use more help for noobs I wish the iPhone could do talking ringtones by itself like my old nokia but this is the next best thing and there are a lot of voices to choose from finally the price is right and I even tried the free version first so thanks ### 5/5 — One of my favorite apps *2010-04-11, version 0* Easy to use, intuitive, and a great inventory of sounds. For my Ringtones I begin with a guitar solo then have the sultry-voiced chick say "oh great one, [name here] is calling". My alarm and weekly reminders are all voice now as I set them up in the clock. Hope 4.0 OS allows custom tones for calendar. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Has potential... Horse shoes & hand grenades *2011-08-18, version 7.2* Most of the voices still sound computerized. Tried the cowboy voice & it too sounded like a computer without a wester or southern or even a southwestern accent... I have only liked 1 voice, the devil. It's entertaining. the app has promise if the voices were better. Not worth $.99 for 1 ringtone I like. Plus you can't hear it before you create it... ### 1/5 — Cumbersome and confusing *2010-07-10, version 0* Stupid app - you have to send information to their web site and then log in to retrieve ringtones. For text to speech? This is something simple the IPhone can do real time with the right software. Interface is terrible, HELP is useless and not clear. What each field does is not explained. How to link it with a phone number is not explained. One of those apps that makes you want to throw your iphone out the window. Text to speech ringtones come on tons of phones for free and work well. No logging in to some stupid web site. Site looks designed to send you spam or carry viruses. ### 2/5 — Create your own ringtones *2011-10-03, version 7.2* Not at all what I thought I was getting. If you think you'll get quality sounding w music of choice or any sounds for text tones too, you don't. Best you'll get is really silly sounding voices saying answer your phone. I can record a voice myself. Not creative at all. Bland and Dull. Gee hope this was free!!! ### 2/5 — I really wanted to love this *2011-04-18, version 7.2* The idea of this is brilliant. All in all there is potential. I was torn between the good and bad reviews, so I took a chance. You can adjust speed but without the ability to use commas or other punctuation, it all kinda runs together. Hopefully there will be an update in the future, that fixes that. Note to developer: the kid and queen voices sound like anything but! ### 2/5 — This app works,but the voices... *2010-09-07, version 0* The voices are a bit hard to understand, this is an interesting idea for fun/entertainment, but I can't see a practical use until the voice quality has been greatly improved. Also the UI leaves a lot to be desired... ### 3/5 — Just OK *2011-05-02, version 7.2* Volume for Into is louder than voice. So I have a piercing beep followed by a soft voice I can barely hear. They should match better. Missing many options that should be obvious. For example, why can't I select one of the system ringtones for into followed by a voice? Sound quality of intros is mediocre. I still gave it three stars because of the low price and uploading/downloading the ringtones is a breeze. ### 3/5 — Meh, It is okay *2010-11-07, version 0* It basically does what it says. The sounds are not that great quality. The user interface is NOT very good. For example, you have to scroll thru all the sounds to get to the ones you want. It is novel for .99 but I probably would not pay more. With an update it could be better. ### 3/5 — Nice App, Good start!! *2010-10-29, version 0* It would be a great help if the caller could be selected from my contacts list, just a thought. Also would be great if I could create and download the ringtone directly on the website instead of having to go back and forth. And using a real keyboard is much easier. It would also be nice if I could review the ringtone before sending it. I also noticed that ringtones I make sometimes don't show up on the download website - I suppose that is a connection problem though. (That's probably another reason to have the ability to create the ringtone directly on the website - you wouldn't have to worry about phone connection quality.) ### 3/5 — Slow Voices *2010-01-30, version 0* I'd give this app 5 stars if there was an option to speed up the voices. For a ringtone I prefer the voices to "yell" at me, not read me a night time story.
