### 4/5 — Better than DND

*2026-04-19*

It's better than iphone focus or DND.. It still let's you get call or text silent vibration alerts. The new update is nice looking but would be better if you can direct access the different features by pressing the icons on the home screen... Going to the menu is clunky. Thank you for this APP!

### 2/5 — Has degraded

*2024-04-28, version 8.1*

I purchased this app years ago. And it was outstanding. But now it seldom works. It just keeps asking me to sign up for a monthly service. Very strange. I can’t count on it.

This developer has no integrity!!!

### 4/5 — set & forget

*2024-03-08, version 8.1*

—updated comments— This app was a very useful background running app for such a long time for me, but when it stopped working. I opened it up only to discover it has gone to subscription only. :(

Why would i subscribe to something that I already paid for, and which hasn’t significantly updated features, design, or function since I bought it 9 years ago?

 —original review—
This is a great little “set it and forget it” app. 4 stars instead of 5 because the instructions are a little difficult to understand, and the design isn’t great. Once I figured out what I wanted it works in the background. I put the !silent code in the notes of variable calendar events, chose the times and locations of recurring events, and use the timer function for spontaneous stuff. I’m not interrupted by calls or texts during classes, lessons, religious services, movies, or meetings. And I don’t have to remember to turn things back on when the event is done (which is the main benefit for me!).

### 2/5 — Another great utility lost to the subscription model

*2023-09-18*

I have used this utility for years and love it. But I noticed that it too has now gone the way of subscription based.

I would have considered a one time fee, but this app is not worth $24/yr.

### 1/5 — Price gouge. Priced off my phone

*2023-08-31, version 8.1*

Money grab, changed pricing model of an app I purchased years ago.

### 1/5 — Great app…but!

*2023-08-21, version 8.1*

I paid for this many years ago and it has been great. Until it started requiring a subscription for what I have already paid for. I understand the author wanting to make a change to the model, but those of us who paid to begin with should not be penalized now.

### 2/5 — Monthly subscription crazy

*2023-08-07, version 8.1*

I have used this software for a number of years and been extremely happy with it. But adding a $1.99 a month subscription is crazy. That is roughly $25 a year endlessly. If they made a $5 or $10 one time cost I would probably pay but a never ending $2 monthly fee is not worth it.

### 1/5 — Developer need to honor previous purchases

*2023-07-31*

I understand that your pricing has changed but I purchased as one time fee. You need to honor those purchases and all new subscriptions should be under your new pricing or you should of created new app with that monthly pricing. Did you ever think of grand fathering previous purchases? I will not be paying the monthly subscription as I paid for a one time purchase agreement. I want version before this pricing change.

**Developer response:** I appreciate your feedback and concerns. Transitioning to a subscription model was aimed at supporting ongoing app development and maintenance. While I understand your preference, creating a separate version isn't always feasible.

### 2/5 — WARNING: DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS VERSION!!

*2023-07-30, version 8.1*

The new version as of July 20th 2023 does not work properly unless you pay a monthly subscription. I updated it too hastily along with other apps. I payed for this app originally but I may now have to look for an alternative. I’m not going to get in to subscription software.

### 1/5 — Owned a license for over 12 years… now have more

*2023-07-30*

Pretty sure I bought a license when I got this app 13 years. I know I bought it then because I used it when we start fostering and wanted it to auto mute at court houses. Noticed at one place I always go last week it didn’t mute and when I opened the app I now get to pay a fee every month…. For the same service I have used for 13 years… No improvements really have been made across the years of iOS other than make it work for it.

Not happy and definitely not worth $2 a month for it… will just start muting my own phone.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear that you're no longer satisfied with the app. In order to continue developing and maintaining AutoSilent we decided to change pricing model. App pricing models can change over time, and it's understandable that the new subscription model doesn't align with your expectations. The new payment model is monthly subscription for $1.99, and may be cancelled any time

### 1/5 — They are joking

*2023-07-29, version 8.1*

I have used this app for years... and paid for it NOW they want $24 per year for it? With the "update" I just saw today. No way!

Adffdendutm 7-29-23
Someone needs to tell the developer that his "boiler plate" replies are not working

Someone needs to tell the developer that it is not the APP that people are dissatisfied with but rather the new pricing scheme - especially those of us who paid for the app previously

Someone needs to tell the developer that he will probably lose more than he gains

### 1/5 — Developer started charging a monthly subscription

*2023-07-26*

I’ve been using app for years and it met my needs. I liked it so I paid for it. Now the developer has decided to start charging a monthly subscription fee for an app I already paid for. So I either succumb to his extortion or stop using an app I paid for. I wasn’t given a choice about updating. The app updated automatically and there’s no way to roll back to a previous version. I very disappointed in the decision the developer made to change this app. I did send feedback to the developer and got no response so I am leaving my honest review.

### 1/5 — Paid for it and now it’s subscription

*2023-07-26, version 8.1*

Like many others, I paid for this app when it was a one time purchase. Switching an existing product that people purchased to a subscription model so that they can no longer use their purchased product is scummy.

### 1/5 — Was a great app till

*2023-07-24, version 8.1*

I just recently purchased the app about two months ago paid for 4.99 for. Now come to find out new app update requires a subscription very sad on the bait and switch tactics used by the app developer. Everybody’s looking for a money grab

### 4/5 — Great app, poor decision to move to monthly subscription

*2023-07-21, version 8.1*

AutoSilent is soooo simple and it just works. Sure, the UI isn’t very slick, but I don’t care -once it’s set up, you hardly have to touch it again.

I’ve had it for so long that I can’t remember if I paid for it - I believe I did. You can imagine my dismay at receiving the latest update only to be told that I now have to pay for it again (and again, and again, as it’s now a monthly subscription). I know £1.99 a month isn’t much, but it’s enough to make me spend 15 minutes working out how to use the iPhone’s ‘Focus’ feature. AutoSilent is now uninstalled…

### 4/5 — Very Nice App. Deleting because of charges

*2023-07-16*

A very nice app and I liked the scheduled silence for recurring meetings and church. That being said, it’s not worth $2 a month to silence my phone. I pay for too many things already. I understand the developer wants to make some money. Just not going to pay for an app like this.

### 3/5 — Used to love this

*2023-07-15, version 8.1*

Used to love this app and have used it for years, but I will not be paying money to use the same app that used to be free. There are other ways to silence my phone. I don’t need to pay for an app to do it.

### 1/5 — Priced itself right off my phone

*2023-07-14, version 8.1*

The app overall works well, too bad the developer got greedy and started charging a monthly fee. I would be willing it pay up to 5 dollars for a one time purchase of the app but 1.99 a month is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t see how the developer can justify charging a monthly fee for this.

### 4/5 — Love this app but too pricey

*2023-07-13*

I’ve been using this app for a while and just found that it’s gone to subscription pricing.

I love that I don’t have to remember to turn on and off silent mode when I go to work and can use the timer for off site meetings. I can’t believe Focus on my phone doesn’t just have silent versus blocking notifications.

I find it very useful but would rather pay a moderate lump sum to buy. I don’t think I can pay $2 every month for it. I’ll see how long I can live without it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ripped off

*2026-04-26, version 8.3*

I purchased this app years ago and now it’s gone to subscription. It was a lifetime purchase I got ripped off.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-04-24, version 8.2*

I have used this app for several years and it’s been fantastic. The latest update looks cool, but it has completely broken the silence by location functionality.

### 1/5 — Paid for it already

*2024-10-16*

Like many others I paid for this app over 10 years ago and the company should have grandfathered those purchases in. I like the app and tried the new monthly subscription model. In the end, my love for the app couldn’t overcome the bitterness of the way in which this subscription service was rolled out. Hope Apple does something similar for free soon. No need to respond, I’ve read enough of the other responses. Thanks for 12 years of great service.

### 1/5 — App not working - why pay?

*2024-09-17, version 8.1*

$2 per month is ridiculous. I might consider l paying $5 per year. Why should I pay for an app that is no longer working properly? If it is not working because certain features have been disabled, I could get on board with that and would be willing to pay an annual fee. However, I am not certain that the app would work even then. It is September 2024. When I click on app support, I am taken to a submission screen that is dated 2011. Unfortunately, I feel that is indicative of the level of support that I would get if I were to pay their unrealistic fees.

### 1/5 — One great app ruined by subscription

*2024-08-13, version 8.1*

I can silence my phone manually for 2 dollars per month.

### 1/5 — What maintenance? What updates?

*2024-08-04, version 8.1*

I have “owned” this app for many years and I am not happy with the new subscription model. They say they changed to a subscription model for maintenance and updates? In the 10+ years I’ve “owned” this, there have been few, if any, upgrades or updates to the app. It works. Leave it alone. Charge $10 or whatever it is for the app - But $24 a year? Nope.

### 1/5 — Disappointed…

*2023-10-13, version 8.1*

I bought the app outright before you instituted a subscription model. Now I am being asked to pay a monthly fee. I don’t need support. I just need the version I had without a monthly fee! Please advise.

### 1/5 — I bought it and now the try to charge me monthly

*2023-09-15, version 8.1*

What more can I say. I bought the rights to use this app and it worked pretty good. Then all the sudden it quits working and they want a monthly fee. That’s not what I agreed to when I BOUGHT IT.

### 1/5 — I bought this App

*2023-09-13, version 8.1*

I am really disappointed that my purchase of this app years ago is no longer respected. Whilst $1.99 a month is not much, I never agreed to a time limit for the original purchase. App is uninstalled

### 1/5 — Never!!!

*2023-09-08*

I will never pay twice for an app that I already paid for! Developers should look at the history of a company called Waves a music plugin developer. They tried to do the same scam and had to reverse the decision because of losing SO many customers.

No need to leave your canned reply that does not soften the blow for all the people that already paid once. Every complaint has nothing to do with being unsatisfied with the app......all has to do with being ripped off!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — More control of your phone

*2025-03-14, version 8.1*

Back in the day, Nokia phones could be programmed with infinitely variable profiles that combined all of your phone settings that could change based on many many circumstances, like time of day, location, available networks etc. The iPhone had nothing like that for most of its history. For those of us who had come to rely on Nokia’s rock solid scheduling of silence and privacy this was nuts. AutoSilent provided a simpler but powerful substitute for the years before Apple introduced the increasingly complex and nuanced combination of Do not disturb, Focuses and automations. AutoSilent still provides the most robust way to keep your phone silent on a schedule or timer, and equally importantly, to turn the sound back on at the right time.

### 5/5 — How Did I Live Without This?

*2022-10-28, version 7.2*

Everyone reminds you to turn your phone OFF. Forgetting to turn it back ON can have serious business consequences.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2020-06-20, version 6.5*

Awesome app works well once setup
I had some problems setting it up, my fault not apps.
Support for this app was excellent very fast & helpful

### 5/5 — Missing white list

*2020-03-07*

This is an excellent app. Just one thing is missing and that’s a white list for phone numbers that would be urgent like a burglar alarm and things like that. Hope they see this request. Still gave it 5 stars.

### 5/5 — So Needed This

*2020-01-28, version 6.5*

I just switched from Android to Apple and have been very frustrated over the lack of basic features and customization. One of the main features of my old phone that was missing on the Apple was the ability to set scheduled recurring mute or do not disturb times/days. Needing to remember to set a Do Not Disturb every time I needed my phone to be silent was ridiculous, especially for an event that recurs every week and sometimes daily church, meeting, school classes etc. Finding this app was a life saver and Apple should thank you as I was vowing to never buy an Apple again. Works perfect so far I highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Great program!!!

*2020-01-20*

This AutoSilent program does just what I want it to do. It turns my iPhone’s ringer off at a designated time and turns it back on at a designated time. I do not use the location feature so have location turned off. I use the DND feature of the iPhone to turn the ringer off at 11:00 pm and on at 8:00am. I have an iPhone XR and I use it with a Google calendar, but it syncs with the Apple calendar which syncs with this program. I had a couple of questions setting it up, but my emails were responded to very promptly giving me the information I needed to set the program up correctly. I highly recommend this AutoSilent program to any one who wants to be certain their iPhone does not ring right in the middle of a meeting, play, church, etc., but also turns the ring feature back on when the event is over. I have had it working for a couple of weeks now and it has never failed to turn the ringer off and back on multiple times each day.

### 5/5 — Excellent,

*2019-08-12, version 6.4*

So configurable!

You can set it up to be auto silent in the following ways, and use any combination of the following:

When connected to certain WiFi networks (name your network/s )and when connected, it will be silent.

When you are within range (you specify) of a particular location/s via gps

You can manually schedule auto silent on and off without using the calendar

You can add events to the calendar to auto silent.

This app has given you every possible means of being able to auto silent your device without being tied to internet or GPS if you don’t want to use those methods.Only con is that you have to remember to restart the app after reboot. A small price to pay for such functionality.

Highly recommend

### 5/5 — Does exactly what I need

*2019-07-04, version 6.4*

Recommended

### 5/5 — No more unwanted disturbances

*2019-06-04, version 6.4*

No more interruptions during church or while I am lecturing at college or while at a meeting. If is on my calendar, I can have that time protected from unwanted disturbances. Great app!!

### 5/5 — Excellent simple mode

*2018-12-08, version 6.3*

I primarily use simple mode by entering estimated length of meetings or schedules. Do not have to remember to turn off silent mode EVER AGAIN! Thank you.
