### 3/5 — Something is missing

*2026-02-09, version 4.0.2*

I have apple watch series 7 and i look for this app but this app only available iphone but why not apple watch series?

### 3/5 — Doesn’t save settings

*2025-09-13, version 4.0.2*

I’ve tried multiple times to set up a rhythm but it never seems to save. The lamp goes offline even though it’s on but the rhythms don’t get remembered even though the settings are set to remember the last if it goes offline. Annoying as it’s for my kids room

### 2/5 — Needs further optimization

*2025-01-25*

It takes excessive steps to create simple commands for groups of lights. When I make a group with identical lights, it only allows me to turn them on or off. When I make scenes, I have to manually add every light and custom lighting effects have to be redone for every unit. PLEASE make it easier to group and control lights.

### 2/5 — Works but a bit fiddly

*2024-12-14, version 4.0.1*

Overall the app is fine for what it needs to do. The devices often show as offline when you open the app, but when you refresh the page they show up most of the time.

The controls are good and intuitive for colours and brightness.

The macros where you can group lights together are good for turning them off and on, but don’t work for setting them all to a particular colour. It seems you can’t have very detailed macros.

The final thing that drove me to this review, however, is that an un-skip-able ad now appears for a Christmas discount whenever you open the app. You have to wait ~8 seconds before you can close it. This leaves you standing in the dark until the ad has finished before you can turn your lights on…

I understand the ad will probably be removed after Christmas, but nothing was stopping the developers showing it in literally any other format than a full screen ad that you have to wait to close.

### 3/5 — I’m confused

*2024-08-24, version 4.0.1*

I’ve just got my bulb and it works! It fits perfectly in my lamp, but I dont know how to change the colour and brightness.

### 2/5 — Could be better.

*2024-07-16, version 4.0.1*

The idea for the app is there, however, this app has a lot of room for improvement. One thing that EXTREMELY Annoying is the fact that you have to automate bulb by bulb if you have multiple ones in a room as opposed to being able to group select and adjusting everything in real time (example: changing all the colors, brightness, etc., all at once). You have to create a scene adjusting every single parameter 1 by 1 and if you plan on having multiple scenes of different colors, good luck usually never works the way you want it to. The other part that is annoying is if you accidentally power the wall switch on and off more than once it’ll reset and completely lose all the saved presets you had saved. You would then have to re-do all the steps AGAIN. This app would be much better if those changes can be made.

### 3/5 — Sound Reactivity Stopped Working

*2024-03-27, version 4.0.1*

Sound Reactivity Stopped Working. The app has permission to use the microphone, but the option to have the lights dance to music is not functional. 🤷‍♂️

### 3/5 — Subset of Tuya Smart. Use the latter instead.

*2024-03-07, version 4.0.1*

I purchased a new set of smart bulbs & noticed that they were recognized as Tuya bulbs. At any rate, the app times out frequently while adding devices, both at the recognition stage & also during the Wi-Fi stage. I also found that this app doesn’t have any iPad resources, so you’re stuck with a slightly upscale iPhone app instead.

TL;DR - I installed the Tuya Smart app instead of this one, and configured everything there without any issues.

### 4/5 — It works… but the it’s using the old phone format…

*2024-01-15, version 4.0.1*

So when you try to use it on the iPad, you end up with a tiny window and a tiny keyboard…

### 4/5 — it’s glitched

*2022-10-31, version 4.0.0*

i like it a lot very entertaining for my childish mind but it’s not letting me access the light to change it anymore it says the app needs an update but when i try to update the app it says it’s the newest version so i’m unable to make my light bright again

### 2/5 — .

*2022-09-12, version 4.0.0*

the actual light is good and it works but the app is so bad. it takes so many tries/refreshes to get it to actually load and not freeze. very frustrating.

### 2/5 — No support for Siri, widgets, HomeKit, etc

*2022-08-17, version 4.0.0*

Although these aren’t listed to have any of these features I was hoping there would be some shortcuts functions or maybe even a widget so I didn’t have to open the app to turn the power off and on to the switch. Would really appreciate some sort of usability improvement so that I don’t have to use google or Alexa, I prefer to be on one platform, I mean, that is the apple way after all.

### 1/5 — Adds

*2022-06-30, version 4.0.0*

Cheesy app. Pumps sale of their products. Can not get rid of ads.

### 1/5 — Diabolical - worst bulbs by far that I own!

*2022-06-07, version 3.17.1*

These so called smart bulbs from avatar are by far the worst and most aggravating smart device I’ve had! I’ve owned them for a number of years now. All the other brand bulbs/plugs etc are no trouble at all! But avatar ones…oh wow! They’ll drop off randomly every so often and then are a nightmare to get going again and as for connecting to a new router. HORRENDOUS! Again every other device has reconnected no problem! But not these useless things from this brand. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!!!! You will regret it!! Years of problems. Stick to Phillips etc!

### 1/5 — App now terrible after update

*2022-03-23, version 3.17.1*

Sort out the controls as the app is now bloody terrible, I go to use 1 item yet the app turns on a completely different 1 or everything, the old style was so much better

### 2/5 — Unreliable

*2022-03-12, version 3.17.0*

Since latest update the app controls are unreliable. When selecting one device to switch on, at times another device will also switch on.

### 3/5 — It works……. Eventually

*2022-03-03, version 3.17.0*

Trying to connect the bulb to my wifi for the first time took soooo many attempts. It’s a very similar app to a smart electric heater and that was also difficult to connect to the wifi. Both connected by just trying over and over again.

### 3/5 — Kind of annoying

*2022-02-20, version 3.16.9*

It was good to start with then it tells me “device is unresponsive” then says the device isn’t connected to the same internet bc we changed it but then it doesn’t tell me how to connect it to the internet

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glaring Flaws

*2026-03-10, version 4.0.2*

It takes excessive steps to create simple commands for groups of lights. When I make a group with identical lights, it only allows me to turn them on or off. When I make scenes, I have to manually add every light and custom lighting effects have to be redone for every unit. There’s also extremely limited choices and no way to program a smooth flow of one color/brightness into another.

The UI for the entire app is cold and difficult to navigate.

On top of all of that, when the lights are trying to pair they flash at a fairly rapid rate on the hottest, whitest setting. Im incredibly photosensitive and this was an unwelcome surprise that left me with a bad headache and blurry eyes.

PLEASE make it easier to group and control lights. I’m disappointed to see that none of this has been changed in over a year of using the lights. If Govee made chandelier bulbs I would switch.

### 1/5 — Worst thing I’ve ever purchased

*2026-02-10, version 4.0.2*

This product is a heap of burning garbage. Save yourself the aggravation and money. It doesn’t work as it should, and refuses to connect no matter what I did. 0/10, if i could rate these lower I absolutely would!

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2025-09-10, version 4.0.2*

Used to be brilliant now the lights don’t keep to schedule, say they are off when they’re on and visa versa.. no way to fix .. what happened? 😫

### 1/5 — Hopeless app

*2025-07-06, version 4.0.2*

The app design is horrible. Why am I no longer able to control all the lights in a room at the same time? I can set a scene to do this but that doesn’t work with coloured lights. Why are the colour and brightness controls completely different in the scene setting options as to just controlling one light individually? Please role back to a previous version

### 1/5 — Widget

*2024-12-04, version 4.0.1*

The widget disappeared after an iPhone update, is this getting replaced?

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2024-11-10, version 4.0.1*

Bulbs enter pairing mode but don't pair. Absolutely maddening! It's not a user error; I have several set up from more than 12 months ago, but new bulbs (in new lights or to replace old bulbs) simply don't work.

### 1/5 — Flashes bright white when not connected

*2024-10-13, version 4.0.1*

Genuinely infuriating to connect when you have a lamp with multiple modes, as when some bulbs go off others turn on. All the bulbs don’t stay connected and frequently get disconnected when changing modes. While trying to reconnect, they arent seen and flash bright white in the middle of the night in a dark room. This makes me want to jump out of my 18th story window

### 1/5 — Flakey app

*2023-10-20, version 4.0.1*

Difficult to find group function. If you power then off… then totally screwed.
Connection and app is very flakey.

### 1/5 — Light bulb

*2022-11-29, version 4.0.0*

Would just constantly flash wouldn't connect tried everything nothing would let it connect wouldn't buy again

### 1/5 — Bad product

*2022-08-23, version 4.0.0*

I cannot set it up- I click on the bulb type in the Wi-Fi password and it just doesn’t connect. I did everything it says

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing

Highly worth it

### 5/5 — “And Then There Was Light”

*2022-03-10, version 3.17.0*

### 5/5 — Excellent software

*2022-02-20, version 3.16.9*

### 5/5 — 100% Worth it.

*2021-04-23, version 3.16.8*

Just all round worth it.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2021-04-14, version 3.16.8*

Love these lights throughout the house, easy to set, use, and time. Also enjoy the color spectrum as well as dimmer capabilities.

### 5/5 — Pain to set up but a doddle afterwards

*2021-03-05, version 3.16.8*

As said by almost everyone this might drive you crazy especially the first one. Once done it pretty much runs itself. I have one connected to Alexa and in general it’s improved this area of my life.

Another complaint, why can i not set up multiple instructions please? I have it on so it switches on and off at a certain time. But i’d like to add something in between. So on at 4:30 and off at 10:30 then maybe come on at 1 am and go off at 4. Also please please add sensor option for when someone comes home in the middle of the night.
Thank you

### 5/5 — New to controls

*2021-01-26, version 3.16.8*

Great app. Allows me to have all my devices controlled on one app as well as integrated with Alexa. I have my heating control Remotely for a third of the price of hive. Also control my lights and other appliances with timers or remotely. Just starting automation but easy with this app.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2021-01-02, version 3.16.8*

Great quality easy to setup

### 5/5 — Happy

*2020-12-23, version 3.16.8*

This app works really well. It was easy to set up. One of my WiFi receptacles occasionally goes off-line. I haven’t figured out why. Overall, I’m very happy

### 5/5 — This app rocks

*2020-12-11, version 3.16.8*

When I got these I thought they were gonna be cheapies like the other ones I have had, but I was wrong.
These are the best L.E.D lights anyone could ask for and the app works great.
