Rich vocab, lots of features.. or so I thought. The frozen row feature and the vocab presets are all language blocked to US english only. As an Australian AAC user, this really sucks! Why can’t I access frozen row? It’s the most fundamental feature I NEED for AAC along with the vocab presets!? Yes it may be hard to do Australian vocab too BUT I struggle with using the layouts and having to start FROM scratch for big boards. It’s stressful, time consuming and as much as I want to LOVE Avaz, I cannot. Also YouTube intergration is only 5 minutes MAX. This really sucks because most of my stuff is for school, it goes for like 20 minutes more. Besides this, Avaz has good colour coding system and easy customisation but not to where I feel it needs to be. ### 2/5 — It shouldn’t be this hard. *2026-03-28* I used to own an account on this on this device specifically with a different email address. When I tried to make a new account on a different device with a different email I just made, it said that I ‘already had an account’ which I didn’t! So then I tried again to make a new account, but it said I already had an account under that email despite it never being used?? It shouldn’t be this hard to make an account or sign in. Please fix this! ### 3/5 — It’s great but glitchy *2025-12-31, version 8.0.2* I’ve had abs since October. I really love it. I do wish it was cheaper for a lifetime and one of the issues is it’s telling me it’s 299.99 for the lifetime, but it’s telling my friend it’s only 199.99 and it’s been glitching and freezing but I do really love the app. If you could fix these issues, I really want to buy the lifetime. ### 2/5 — Too expensive. *2025-11-07, version 8.0.2* As a person who needs it to communicate it is good and easy to navigate. However, it’s too expensive for me or my family to even afford. What is the out right purpose of this if I is difficult for individuals to afford? Maybe bring your prices down and I may consider checking it out again. There’s many people out in need but a reliable AAC device, but we can’t really rely upon it if it costs that much. The problem is it’s only for free for 14 days, which is not helpful in case you are a person like me who cannot afford to buy a voice ### 3/5 — 50-50 *2025-06-01* I have had this app for four years I recently uninstalled it, it used to be awesome cuz it WAS FREE you had everything possible than the changed it to were you have to pay :( it’s a good app overall if you have money and willing to give it a try I do recommend if you can I deleted that app because I can’t afford to pay the subscription and the free version of the app doesn’t have the needs that you need like talking, and pictures ect overall i recommend if you can afford it if not give the free a try and if not than get something else for me I’m a big picture person so I need them but if you can just see the words and don’t need pictures than you should be fine (if you don’t care on having a verbal voice lol) **Developer response:** Hello, thank you for sharing your feedback. Thank you again! ### 2/5 — I like it but *2025-04-12* I love this app it is the best aac app I have used but I can not pay for the subscription after my free trial runs out. Thank you for the feedback. ### 3/5 — Trial? *2025-03-29* I didn’t not know it was a trial version. Wish I knew, yet it was effective in me deciding I might go through with a plan. Prices look great compared to many other apps. I just haven’t purchased one yet. Still usable, but my child prefers his custom pictures (still works after trial) and the talking. But I kept getting told every time I opened the app, that my access to the app would expire. Idk what to do, because the app is amazing but I can’t afford to pay for it if it actually does need a payment or subscription. Can somebody tell me how to get a subscription even though I can’t afford it? I love the app, and would love to keep using it if I could afford it. **Developer response:** Thank you for your support! Stay tuned, and feel free to reach out to support@avazapp.com for more details. ### 3/5 — misleading free trial, okay otherwise *2024-05-03, version 6.6.7* overall a good app, i liked it and had lots of good features, but several issues i ended up noticing, as well as just some features i disliked. i no longer use it, but kept it downloaded in case i ever have the money to fully buy it. - after my free trial ended the voice stopped working, even after i switched it back to a default voice. i had thought that only the premium voices were paywalled, and the app didn’t tell me why i couldn’t use the voices anymore. - i downloaded a backup of my boards, and then tried to upload it to test if it worked. it did not process my backup properly, and put all of my old boards into one folder instead of how they were meant to look. - the only way to copy a sentence without the premium is to download it as an image, which is inconvenient and slow. this is the only way to communicate with it other than showing the screen to someone else. - sentences can be read with the ios screenreader after the trial is over, but any words that have icons are read after the rest of the sentence. (i.e., the sentence “I want to eat”, where “I” and “eat” have icons, will be read “want to I eat”) ### 5/5 — Voice for my child *2024-03-12* Avaz has been a life changer for us. It’s become my daughter’s voice and has reduced her frustration levels to the minimum. It’s use is so easy and child friendly that she’s become a pro at using it by herself at home and at school. Thanks to the super supportive team at Avaz, the journey has been so smooth. Their inputs, guidance, troubleshooting help, and constant interactions with the parents, has made the use of this app a blessing. Highly recommend it to anyone who is facing language, cognitive, speech difficulties. ### 5/5 — Greatest *2023-12-16, version 6.6.7* Because there is a new update ### 5/5 — Awesome!! AAC of choice *2023-09-11* I lose speech quite often, and I genuinely prefer Avaz to other AAC apps, especially with the subscription option they offer. The layout and organization genuinely makes sense, and isn't too overwhelming or confusing, even at the highest vocabulary level, unlike other apps I've seen. It is unfortunate there's no option to save phrases for later, so you have to type everything on the spot, but that's minor. This app is affordable, the voice options are numerous, and you can customize just about everything, with the exception of some preset words. I would highly recommend checking out! There are also multiple vocabulary levels, as well as a keyboard, AND touch accommodations so you aren't limited in any way. Thanks to the app and to the team. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Do not purchase subscription, DOES NOT WORK! *2026-04-16, version 8.0.4* They do not warn you that you cannot buy this on your account as the parent, and expect it to work on your kids tablets. You cannot even sign out without deleting an account. So if you buy a lifetime subscription, even if you are logged in with the exact same e-mail, it will not work. Even if you try restoring purchase and using their website for advice. If you reach out to them for support by e-mail, they will not answer. You can expect decent response time for support from other companies, just not this one. It is a simple program they made using software from the 90s and expect to pray on parents by charging $400! We will look into this. ### 1/5 — IS NOT FREE !!! *2025-03-15* if you’re poor (like MOST DISABLED PEOPLE ARE) do NOT waste your time w this app. after the free trial ends they will take away the main function & purpose of the app (the speaking ability) and ask for $300. IT IS NOT A GLITCH ! if your audio stopped working it’s because your free trial is up. it takes so long to customize an AAC board just for the entire point of having it to be thrown out the window. these people do not care about accessibility or your needs they care about profiting off of (poor) disabled people. i recommend C board instead. they take away some functions after free trial but the purpose of the app still works great. **Developer response:** We’re truly sorry and understand how frustrating it must feel to lose access to a feature you rely on. Customising it to suit the child’s need is also very easy. The icons are clear and easy to understand. It has opened the lines of communication which has relieved much frustration on my son’s behalf thus resulting in significantly less Self injurious behavior.
