## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-07-30

AvClock is now on Apple Watch! Install the companion app for live airport times and weather right on your wrist, plus five watch face complications — including one you can set to always show a specific airport. Tap any watch complication or iPhone Lock Screen widget to jump straight into that airport's full detail view instead of just opening the app.

You can now also mute weather alerts for individual airports without turning alerts off everywhere else — handy if you track a lot of airports but only want to be notified about a few of them.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-25

What's New in 1.5

New ways to plan your trip, not just check the time:

• My Flights — log your own flights (airline, flight number, airports, date & time) and set a custom calendar reminder before departure, anywhere from 30 minutes to a full day ahead
• Currency Converter — a live converter for major world currencies, right alongside the rest of an airport's country info
• Get Directions — one tap to open any airport in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Uber, or Lyft
• Quick Search — search and add an airport directly from the main screen, no need to open the full Add screen
• Share an airport's current time and weather with anyone, right from the detail screen
• New quick links: FBO Finder and airport parking

Also in this update:
• Customize Airport View now covers the header and map too, not just the data sections below them — full control over what shows and in what order
• Cleaner airport screen — links regrouped more sensibly, and a re-center button added to the map
• Reset to Defaults options added to both the Units and Customize Airport View settings
• Notifications now explain themselves clearly the moment you turn them on, instead of a permanent disclaimer sitting underneath
• Renamed the "Sun" section to "Sunrise/Sunset" for clarity
• Various visual polish — rounded corners, cleaner button styling throughout
• Weather and Airport Status widgets now appear first when adding a widget

As always: reference only, not for navigation or flight planning.

### 1.4 — 2026-07-10

What's New in 1.4

A big one — lots of new ways to know an airport before you get there:

• Local Weather — a quick, plain-English conditions snapshot for every airport, free for everyone
• Airport Amenities — see terminals, TSA PreCheck/CLEAR/Global Entry, and lounges (including Centurion Lounge & Priority Pass) for major hubs
• Know Before You Go — local currency, plug type & voltage, driving side, emergency number, and rental-car license guidance for every country
• Airport Status (Premium) — live FAA ground stops, delays, and closures, plus one-tap links to check TSA wait times, view an airport diagram, or check NOTAMs
• Delay Alerts (Premium) — get notified the moment status changes for a saved airport, alongside the existing Weather Alerts
• New Airport Status widget (Premium) — live FAA status for your top airports, right on your Home Screen
• Customize Airport View (Premium) — show, hide, and reorder every section of an airport's detail screen exactly how you want it
• Quick links to an airport's official website and Wikipedia page
• A cleaner, reorganized airport detail screen — easier to scan, less scrolling
• A refreshed Premium screen

As always: reference only, not for navigation or flight planning.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-07-03

-Added iPad App Store Images.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-01

-Foundation — AirportMapView.swift added as a full-screen world map (MapKit-backed). Loads nothing at world zoom and only fetches/renders airports in the visible region once you zoom in, capped at 600 pins with native clustering, to stay smooth with ~9k airports. Tap an airport for code/name + a ~1-mile ring. Reference-only, not for navigation.

-Continent filter drill-down — added the MapFilter pill bar (World + 7 continents) across the top. Selecting a continent jumps the camera there and shows its airports regardless of zoom; each pill also carries a drill-down Menu for narrowing to a specific country (and, for North America, a further state-level drill-down).

-Reordered North America's country list — the United States moved to the top of the N. America drill-down list instead of sitting alphabetically buried among all other countries, since most users are looking for it first.

-Dedicated U.S. top-level filter — added .unitedStates as its own pill alongside the continents, a direct shortcut instead of requiring N. America → drill down → United States.
City-level drill-down under U.S. states — extended the U.S. drill-down one level deeper: continent/U.S. → state → city, so users can jump straight to a specific city's airports.

-Fixed map freeze/glitch while a filter is active — panning or zooming with a filter locked was reloading and re-clustering annotations on every camera-change tick. Added a guard in regionDidChangeAnimated so annotation reloads are skipped while parent.filter != nil, since the filter (not the visible region) already determines what's shown.

-Performance: cached drill-down menu contents — the continent pills' nested country/state/city Menu content was being recomputed from a full scan of the airport array every single second (piggybacking off the map's clock timer), which for the U.S./North America pills meant a full linear scan for states plus another scan per state for cities — every second, whether or not anything changed. Fixed by adding one-time @State caches (countriesCache, statesCache, citiesCache) built once via .task, with the drill-down functions now just doing dictionary lookups.

-Touch-target fix on filter pills — the pills (and especially the drill-down chevron) were tiny and unpadded, causing repeatedly missed taps ("4 taps to get into filter settings"). Bumped the label font to .subheadline, gave each pill a 44pt minimum height (Apple's HIG minimum tap target), and gave the chevron its own separately padded tap zone instead of a bare ~9pt icon crammed against the label.

-Current state: World + 7 continent pills plus a dedicated U.S. pill; non-U.S. continents drill down to country level, the U.S. drills down to state then city; annotations load only for the visible region at non-world zoom, capped and clustered; filter-locked panning no longer re-triggers reloads; drill-down menu data is cached, not recomputed per tick.
