But there new rule of 20 custom import maps has made this app horrible. As a forestry worker, I go through a lot more than 20 maps in one season. A $50 subscription (Avenza plus) should entitle you to unlimited custom maps, or at minimum there should be an option for in app purchase to increase your limit of maps. But requiring us to upgrade to a pro subscription for $240 more for more maps is ridiculous. I will not be renewing my subscription with Avenza when my current one expires. ### 2/5 — Not really impressed *2026-08-06, version 5.7 (272)* I have been using the app on my phone and it worked ok. I want to use it on my iPad since the screen is larger but it has no data service only WiFi. I am not using this for commercial purposes and I dislike that it requires a pro upgrade to use an external. You can buy and upload TasMap files to the app but recently they have imposed a limit on important more than a handful of maps, demanding that you subscribe for $60 USD per year to upload any more - all this will not really having an effective library of topo maps you can use for the money. It’s a very bad deal and a particularly cynical subscription, there are better free options out there like NomadTracks. There’s a Different one called Ignis it’s free, just started using it on the Egypt & Second Flat fire. Works decent so far, you can track, drop pins, see the past 25 years of previous Wildfires, a bunch of cool layers you can use!
