I’ve come across these mirror type puzzles on adventure games, but this is a real humdinger! I think the developers should note that we don’t all have 10 Uni degrees, it is only a game you know and we’ve paid for it. This could have been done just the same as the console puzzles. There are solutions on the net, but they’re complex, just as you guys wanted. And they’re basically for pc units. Come on guys, get real and give people a break! This one is no exception; if anything, the world is even bigger and more open-ended than ever, which I love. The problem is that Avernum 3 messes with my iPad Pro’s touch sensitivity, not just in-game but even after I quit, to the point that I have to reboot. I hope this can be fixed. ### 5/5 — A beautiful ruined world *2022-03-11, version 1.0.2* I’ve spent many an hour roaming through the Avernum games. This one is probably my favourite, with both adventures in the caverns and and huge expansive overworld to explore. The graphics are simple, and I know that might put some people off, but the story and world building reels you in, alongside the fun of specing your characters as they level up. I love this new rendition ### 5/5 — Fun game, found a bug though *2020-08-09* This is the largest of the first 3 Avernum games by far, its been fun and challenging. I just found a bug though, if you give an item to the same character that has the item, it just disappears. Trading between characters is fine but if you accidentally send it to the currently selected character, it’s gone forever. Not sure if that issue exists on the other games, I haven’t tried it out yet ### 5/5 — Excellent Design and Experience *2020-03-31* Development included a huge, well-planned outlay and enormous care to make this a benchmark adventure game. It provided weeks of fun, challenging play. One complication is that several versions of the original game seem to have been released over the last 20 years, and with differences by platform; so when players hunt for hints and tips online, they often find irrelevant, unhelpful or obsolete solutions. The other problem for me was the absence of a single-source guide. I’ve read that others players have them, but I couldn’t find one, so the learning curve was steeper than it needed to be, and I wasted a lot of time hunting for help, sometimes unsuccessfully. ### 5/5 — Avernum! *2019-01-15, version 1.0* Those great RPG are too rare on iPad. ### 5/5 — So much fun *2018-05-30* The Avernum series is just the best RPG value on iPad. Do them all in order. The campaign world is huge with delightful weirdness around every corner and hours upon hours of play. Ignore the NPCs who pressure you to complete the main quests quickly, just take your time and thoroughly explore and don't finish before game day 160. Then when you finish, start over again with a walkthrough/quest list to catch everything you missed. ## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Another hit *2018-04-28, version 1.0* Spiderweb software have again hit it out of the park, the game is huge, if you love old school RPG you will love their games. It is amazing that they have been able to provide the full game plus an editor, in to an iOS app. I love the story and the depth of quests etc. just another fantastic game ### 5/5 — Great iOS RPG *2018-04-25* From an Exile OG - great story, solid mechanics, fulfilling gameplay. Lots of secrets to discover. Looks just right for an iPad. Pretty sure this is the largest of the Avernum games. I played for about 10 hours before even thinking about going to the large over world. Plays great on iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. Bonus: save games are transferable to Mac. ### 5/5 — As awesome as always *2018-04-22* If you like old school isometric rpg’s, the Avernum and Avadon games are fantastic. I’d start from the beginning of the series, because then this one is a real treat when you get to actually go to the surface. I love it, and wish the other older spiderweb games would get this same treatment. I waited patiently for the iPad version to come out, because it just works perfectly and because it is way harder to find great games for the iPad than for the PC.
