## What is Avidyne IFD100 10.3?

The IFD100 10.3 is the in-flight companion App for Avidyne's IFD series avionics with Wi-Fi connectivity. Compatible with IFD software release 10.3.0.2. If you IFD is running pre-10.3 software, please use the IFD100 10.2.

The IFD100 is not FAA certified. It is considered to be a Portable Electronic Device (PED) that can be used as a supplemental display. Up to two iPads can be connected to a single IFD, showing all its sensor data and flight plan information if identical databases are loaded in both the App and IFD.

The IFD100 can also be used with Avidyne's Trainer App running on another iPad connected to the same network. Allow Wi-Fi when starting the trainer and the IFD100 will automatically connect to it.


With a few exceptions, the IFD100 can do and display everything that the IFD can. Please refer to the IFD Pilot Operating Handbook for more details.

IFD440 here.  I’ve been using this app since this version of the software released.  While I did have a rocky start getting the correct subscription to Jep charts, once that was done all has worked as expected.

Still waiting for the corresponding update to our IFD-440. 

Complete loss of integration functionality without the app update. 

Not nice.

I love my Avidyne IFD440 GPS, and I got the IFD100 app, and it worked just fine until I tried to use it for charts. Nothing I can do can make those charts work. I carefully followed all instructions, and each time, the app gets flakier and flakier. Now my Nav and Obstacles won’t work on the IFD100 either. I’ve had enough. My ForeFlight works great with the IFD440. The IFD100 just isn’t trustworthy. 

Avidyne should make the IFD100 software more robust and charge for it. I have no interest in buying another set of Jeppesen charts only to find I can’t use them. They’re not cheap.
