Der QR Code, den man an vielen Stationen scannen muss um Zugang zu bekommen, lässt sich meist nicht scannen. Und dann steht man da mit gültigen Ticket und kommt nicht durch. Venedig ist leider in der Beförderung noch nicht im digitalen Zeitalter angekommen. Die Suche dort ist eine Katastrophe und findet nur wenige Stationen und die auch nur, wenn Du sie exakt richtig schreibst, sie findet keine Namensbestandteile, nichts ähnliches. Doch dem Stand der Zeit entspricht sie absolut nicht, der Kauf eines 48-Stunden-Tickets gestaltet sich absolut umständlich: Anstatt die verschiedenen Tickets anzuzeigen und Icons zu nutzen, muss man als Reisender wissen, welche Kategorie man in Worten eingeben muss. Die Suchworte ergänzen sich auch nicht automatisch, erst dann werden Tickets angezeigt. However in e-mail it comfirms the e-mail has been confirmed, login is not possible. Password reminder request is confirmed in the App, but the e-mail hasn’t been received. Despite as guest user the route can be selected, tivket purchase function doesn’t offer any tickets, but brings the route planner function again. Unfortunatelly at this time it doesn’t find the stations at all. I’ve spent 30mins to try to get ticket, but fed up. This app is completely useless and it’s a shame such a prestigious public transport company in such a popular tourist destination doesn’t have seamless online service in 2026 ### 1/5 — Still no good *2026-06-27, version 10.18.13* I read the reviews and they were all horrible, but they were from several years ago for the most part so I gave the app. They have not made any improvements. The app will not let you register as I never got the SMS code and there is no option to get it via email or any other way. I was able to buy the tickets. I needed straight from the Venice official website. I don’t think they will let me put the URL in this review. This is a great tool for planning trips in and around Venice by Vaparetto. I have used it for years and it works great. ### 5/5 — Ignore the 1-star reviews. *2022-11-29, version 9.21.4* I noticed that there are a lot of 1-star reviews left for this app just before downloading it in preparation for my trip to Venice. So I downloaded it with caution. Much to my surprise, I was able to use this app successfully for its intended purpose. However, not all was rosy. Once downloaded, one should take the time to explore the app in order to become familiar with its features. You will eventually come across the section with the full selection of tickets (to get there, start by selecting the green menu option “Transport, Info & Ticket”, then select “Do you already know what to buy?”, and then select “automotive + navigation” and you’re there. A few things to keep in mind: these are time-based tickets (75 minutes, 1-day pass, 2-day pass, 1-week pass, etc.). The time you get from your ticket does NOT begin at the moment of purchase, but from the moment that YOU activate your ticket. This means that after you buy a ticket, it is your responsibility to actually activate the ticket (all done within the app). Once activated, the time allotted by your ticket for travel starts running. You will know that your ticket is activated because a QR code will appear in the ticket section of the app. Whatever you do, make sure that you install this app on your iPhone! Do NOT under any circumstances download this app on your iPad! Here’s why: when entering the docks for the vaporetto (Venice’s public transport boats), you might encounter barriers that will only open when presenting the QR code of your ticket from the app. Those scanners, unfortunately, have a small enclosure in which you must insert your iPhone so that it can read your ticket’s QR code. An iPad will NOT fit inside those enclosures! I wish this was explained in the app or on the public transport company’s website (ACTV), but it isn’t. It is only states that the app must be downloaded on a smartphone, but it doesn’t state why! And what is worse, is that there is no way to transfer your ticket between devices. If you choose to do so, you must get in touch with the customer service hotline of ACTV. I suspect that the people who left bad reviews for this app just didn’t know how to play by the rules, which I think is unfair because the app serves its exact purpose and does what it is designed to do. If I ever go to Venice again, I will hands down use the the app for its superb convenience. Of course, the other alternative is to buy your public transport tickets in person at the cash desk, but be prepared to stand in long lines. In fact, even in low season, I saw long lines at the cash desk. Apparently tourists who had not done their homework ahead of their visit to Venice and were apparently unaware of the existence of this awesome app. Could this app be designed better? Of course! Does it work: definitely! ### 5/5 — Great app. *2022-09-06, version 9.7.1* This is my first ever review, I never write reviews because I believe them to be useless. After reading the unsatisfied reviews of this app I am very surprised. The app works great, you need a 75 minute bus ticket because there are no tobacco shops or ticket offices nearby? No problem! In 30 seconds I bought the ticket, I don’t understand how people can be this stupid. Auch für mehrere Personen lassen sich sich Tickets buchen. Der QR-Code kann an manchen Readern bei Sonneneinstrahlung schlecht gelesen werden, jedoch gibt es überall mindestens ein Leser speziell für Smartphones, die man so einführt, dass keine Probleme mehr auftreten. P.S.: Der QR-Code wechselt alle 30 Sekunden. Ein abfotografieren, wenn der Akku zur Neige geht, funktioniert also nicht.
