## What is Avocado?

The word list you want. The word list you've been looking for. And the cleanest way to memorize either.

Avocado is a personal vocabulary learning tool built to make every spare minute count. Whatever your native language, whatever you're learning, mix and match any direction.

• Four study modes
- Flashcards: one card at a time, the way you remember best
- Quiz: multiple choice and short answer
- Example sentences: learn words in context
- Autoplay & shadowing: listen and speak along

• A daily learning flow that fits you
- Set a daily target and Avocado distributes the words for you
- Clear graphs of progress and mastery
- Words you've nailed and words that trip you up are tracked separately
- Star a word or revisit only the ones you got wrong

• Gentle Review — right before you forget
- Memorized words quietly resurface right when you're about to forget them
- Words you know well come back rarely; ones you keep missing come back sooner
- Each day's review is capped, so nothing piles up even if you skip a few days
- A soft reminder once a day, only when there's something to review

• Streaks & stats
- Day streak, calendar, and words learned — all in "My Learning"
- Watch today's, this week's, and total memorized words add up
- Share your progress as an image

• Add words by photo or spreadsheet
- Scan a photo and pull in all the words at once
- Paste in or import a CSV file as-is
- Bulk paste: drop a line-separated list and it just works
- Voice input and manual entry also supported

• AI word generation & auto-analysis
- Type a topic and AI builds an entire list for you
e.g. "Renting an apartment in the US", "Ordering at a cafe", "TOEIC verbs"
- Add a single word and AI auto-fills pronunciation, meaning, examples, and synonyms
- Choose language pair, difficulty, and word count

• Find what others have built
- Browse word lists shared by other learners and import the ones you love
- Official curated lists, ready to study

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.2 — 2026-09-03

1.6.2 - AI fills the empty fields in one go.

[Fill the words that only have a meaning]
Words saved past your daily limit come back with the meaning alone, and hand-typed entries often stay half filled. Now they get filled together. Your list tells you at the top when they pile up, and you can pick which ones to fill before you start.

[Example practice asks first]
It now asks before filling in words that have no example. It used to spend your AI quota without asking.

[Base forms for words that changed shape]
Save a word like ran and we will tell you it is the past tense of run. Tap it to search the base form.

[Korean Collections polished]
Examples that never used the word, and grammar slips, are fixed across the Korean decks.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-27

1.6.1 - Fixed a study plan that could stay stuck on the same day.

[Your plan moves on once you have memorized a day]
A day you had already memorized could stay locked, so the next one never opened. It happened most often after studying with example sentences, or after leaving a session partway through. It unlocks as soon as you update.

[Text is no longer cut off]
Screens now wait for the font to load before drawing, so the last letter of a word stays visible.

[Closing an example hint restores the text size]
The sentence used to stay at the smaller size after you closed the hint.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-24

1.6.0 - The Korean decks were rebuilt from scratch.

[A rebuilt Korean ladder: 3,168 cards]
Basic, Intermediate I and Advanced Korean were regenerated card by card so each
level matches its difficulty, and Intermediate Korean II is brand new.

[Korean definitions are real definitions now]
Many cards carried the English meaning copied into the Korean definition field.
Those are genuine Korean definitions written for learners now, and cards whose
meanings the AI had invented were removed.

[Sentence practice got more accurate]
An answer that also fits the blank no longer turns up among the wrong choices,
and a word with several meanings now gets one sentence per meaning instead of
all of them at once.

[Bigger example cards]
The sentence area is more than four times taller. Long examples no longer get
clipped or shrunk down to nothing, a blank on the first line is no longer cut
off at the top, and the speaker button stays inside the card.

[The same daily allowance without signing in]
Signing in is no longer what decides your limit: 50 words a day, 300 for your
first 24 hours, and a rewarded ad gives 20 words up to twice a day.

[Word lists come from the server now]
New decks can show up without an app update. You will need a connection the
first time the catalogue loads.

Also
- Decks you already saved keep their old cards. Import a deck again to pick up
  the corrections.
- Fixed rewarded ads that did not appear, or did not continue after you watched them.
- Fixed the app freezing on iPhone when you went past the limit.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-15

1.5.0

TOPIK II Essentials 300

300 intermediate Korean words for learners who have finished TOPIK I, with a
TOPIK-level example and useful collocations on every card. Set your meaning
language to English to find it in the curated lists.

One ad, no banners for 24 hours

A rewarded ad clears banner ads for the rest of the day and adds to your word
limit at the same time.

Meanings still show past the limit

Even after the daily limit is used up, you can keep seeing what a word means.
The Free plan gets 50 AI words a day, and an ad raises it.

Also
• Clear an input field in one tap while editing a word.
• Japanese pronunciation now shows furigana instead of a Hangul transcription —
the read-aloud voice used that field too, so it was mispronouncing words.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-05

The app now speaks Spanish
Spanish joins Korean and English as a full interface language.
Summer Sea skin
A straw-hat avocado and a wave background. Settings · Theme.
When AI can't fill in a meaning, we say why
An empty meaning field now explains itself, and what to do about it. Until now the pronunciation and example filled in while only the meaning stayed blank, with no way to tell why.
Watch an ad, pick up where you left off
After a rewarded ad, the autocomplete you were waiting on runs itself. Until now the reward landed on the server but the screen stayed put, so it was hard to tell whether it had arrived at all.

Also
• Restoring a subscription now tells you the result, and a purchase tied to another account is blocked with an explanation.
• Fixed clipped labels and off-centre text on narrow screens.
