Prices have gone up on almost every item. I’d rather drive to the store than have my items delivered for almost double their price in stores. Especially when I’m receiving rotten fruit & vegetables from them & are constantly missing items in my orders. ### 3/5 — Going downhill *2022-02-16, version 1.1.1* I’ve been using Avo for well over a year. At the start, it was an exceptional service. Almost always I received the correct order on time, and they always reached out when something was out of stock or delayed. It seems like something has changed over the past couple months. Recently, they seem to be out of stock for a lot of items. When that happens, I no longer receive a notification or a refund until I send them a note asking for a status update. My goods just don’t show up and that’s it. Also, the inventory system needs some kind of update. I asked about some items that are frequently out of stock but listed as available, and the response was that they have no control over it. So basically, I have to just keep placing orders until they have those products. ### 2/5 — Loads of Packaging. *2022-02-01, version 1.1.1* If you care about the environment and excessive plastic use even a little bit, than this service will definitely bother you. Although I see the reason for trying to keep things cold, there has to be a better way of doing it. I received 1, 8oz bag of shredded cheese inside of a plastic insulated bag that includes a frozen plastic water bottle. Then that is inside a large paper bag. Seems like a lot of packaging for just one little bag of cheese. Other than that, the service is relatively convenient, but could definitely add more items to their list. ### 1/5 — Comically bad *2022-01-26, version 1.1.1* It is absolutely astounding how infrequently this service actually gets an order correct. Free delivery is nice but there is the old adage you get what you pay for. ### 2/5 — DON’T RECOMMEND *2022-01-19, version 1.1.1* The first time I ordered from Avo through my building in NYC I just got alcohol, which was fine. But the second time I got a full grocery run - vegetables covered in bugs, 5/15 items just totally missing. They gave me some of my money back. I tried again and this time: rotten potatoes, blueberries when I ordered blackberries and 2/10 things totally missing. Waiting to hear back from customer service now (they are somewhat responsive). But like, this is getting ridiculous. I seriously question where they get their produce, and things are often out of stock. Good for some things, like packaged goods and alcohol (NOT produce, I’m scared) ### 1/5 — Great Idea-ZERO Customer Service *2022-01-11, version 1.1.1* Great idea but not ready for prime time. The company is either very immature or just incompetent. They don’t share the “substitution policy” with customers. If they do share it it’s well hidden. So don’t be expecting to get what you ordered. Beyond that the clear lack of customer service is a deal breaker. Everything is by email and nearly 24 hour response or more. Nothing is done in real time. You can call the phone number but only leave a voicemail as no one answers the phone. I’ve had an issue for a week now about a refund/substituted product and no one has gotten back to me. I live in a high-end luxury building and can only imagine a few of us complaining to the property management team before they decide not to offer this service anymore. Completely useless —- does not deliver on their promise and takes ZERO responsibility or accountability by ignoring customers who complain. Just horrible!!! ### 1/5 — Limited products *2022-01-07, version 1.1.1* I went through my grocery list and tried to find basic products on Avo. I could only find eggs and surprisingly, the brand that I always purchase. I couldn’t find Arm & Hammer toothpaste, fabric softener (any), Dawn dish soap, açaí powder or collagen peptides. Maybe this app is too new and needs to expand their horizons to make these products available? I can order through my local grocery store, finding all the products with same-day pickup, hours earlier than Avo’s delivery time. If you want the delivery convenience and you do not care about brand or price, you might be able to find SOME stuff on here. ### 2/5 — Hit or miss *2021-12-29, version 1.1.1* Some days they do as their site says (deliver on time with good customer services), but most of the time they miss items, don’t deliver your order and are super slow to respond. Order at your own risk, but they are not loyal to sticking to their tag line. ### 1/5 — Do not use avo - terrible customer service *2021-12-29, version 1.1.1* My building has had avo for a while now. It never goes smoothly. At least 95% of my orders have had some sort of issue and their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I kept using them for convenience until now. I will never use them again. My order never arrived so I reached out to customer service and it took them over 2.5 hours to reply just to tell me there was an error and it got routed back to their warehouse. They said “we will start a new order to be delivered tomorrow”. I said no please cancel that. I ordered same day bc I needed that same day. Customer service never answered me. I’ve tried their texts several times and email. Nothing. But that charge is still on my card. What frauds - I will be reporting the charge to my credit card company. Not only that, it keeps coming even after I opted out. ### 1/5 — Holy crap NEVER AGAINNNNN *2021-12-15, version 1.1.1* Listen, I never write reviews. Yet, here I am. My building sent out an email that they were offering this new Avo delivery service to my building so I thought I’d try it out because it sounds like they have great perks. I ordered yesterday morning (Dec 14th) at 10 am because it states that if you order by 11 it is same day delivery. Fast forward to today, my order never arrived and I called, emailed, texted every number and contact info I could find the minute they opened at 9. For the first 2 hours until 11 the phone said it was outside of business hours. Then finally it rang through and eventually said busy. I ended up finding their instagram and dming them and finally someone nice enough told me they would reach out to customer service. So they finally email me at 2 PM stating they lost my order in the warehouse and that it would arrive either today or tomorrow. The reason I ordered early yesterday originally is because I needed these groceries…yesterday. Fast forward to 6 PM (dec 15) and the groceries STILL have not arrived. The tracker has updated every 5 minutes that the van is getting delayed 15 minutes or so. This has been happening since 3 pm. On top of that, they do not deliver to your address. You have to walk to the neighboring building or downstairs to pick it up. Which is not stated, and next to impossible when you have a 1 year old sleeping with no one to watch him. ### 1/5 — Super convenient *2021-12-11, version 1.1.1* It’s my first time to use the app! Very impressed! Although The customer service a little bit slow but super friendly! The service is perfect! No shipping fee no mini fee. I am no complaints at all. Will continue to use it! When I tried to contact customer service, they were closed. I have no notification on where my order is, if it’s late, when it’s coming, etc. I assume I’ll hear from them tomorrow but there should be some form of customer service around at their “delivered by” cut off in case something goes wrong. It wasn’t a good first experience to have nothing delivered by time noted and no one to look into it. I had high hopes :( ### 1/5 — The App doesn’t work *2021-12-01, version 1.1.1* The app doesn’t open. I have to call up the website through Google and it will then open in the app… sometimes. The other time, that little trick doesn’t work and I can’t log in. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — They got my money and ran away! *2022-06-14, version 1.1.1* DONT TRUST THEM！I brought their gift card and all of sudden they changed their service. I have no access to my account info anymore. I have about around $80 in my reminding balance but unfortunately I don’t remember the exact. Then had to email them to get back my money. And they refund me round $50 by several payments… disgusting! I didn’t even get a notice when they was going to not work with our building. So did u guys did that on purpose? Update: Apparently, they deleted and changed their email account! Which means to me that they don’t want to deal with the trouble they had created! ### 1/5 — No longer as advertised *2022-06-14, version 1.1.1* Avo seems to have transitioned to a completely different business model, with no proactive notice. It is no longer a “store” for apartment residents as advertised. Notify your apartment managers if they are still encouraging you to download this app/sign up—Avo certainly isn’t notifying anyone. ### 1/5 — Still Under Maintenance *2022-05-28, version 1.1.1* App is not usable as it is under maintenance. No warning given. I only just started using this app after my recent move, but will go back to Instacart as it is just more reliable. ### 1/5 — First review Of anything. Avoid *2022-05-09, version 1.1.1* This company has been late, sent incorrect items, left items out, lied, just been absolutely trash in my building. Currently, if you go to their website, it links you to “download on the App Store” button, which then opens your app, which links to their website, which encourages you to download the app. I literally cannot order from this app because it is in a recursive loop. The incompetence is something to behold. ### 1/5 — Fail *2022-05-04, version 1.1.1* Tried it several times and I think there was something wrong with every single order. Not everything on the site is actually stocked by Avo. Some things they apparently just go pick up at a local store, which means zero inventory control. The last straw was when I ordered something from a local butcher that showed as available on the site for same day delivery, and when it didn’t show up, I called Avo. They said the butcher was closed that day. Huh?? Maybe figure that out BEFORE you take orders for things from that butcher and say you can deliver them the same day. ### 1/5 — Poor execution, lots of issues *2022-03-17, version 1.1.1* This app has had a lot of issues in the few months I have been using it. Tech issues that cause late deliveries, the wrong items being delivered, poor customer service. I gave an extra star because the premise is great - no minimum order for same day delivery. It’s hit or miss whether you’ll actually get the items ordered and sometimes it’s a day late. UPDATE: this app has now crossed over into fraud, accepting orders from buildings they no longer deliver to and claiming the order was delivered without actually delivering the order. ### 1/5 — Bad company *2022-02-17, version 1.1.1* Terrible company and service including poor quality product. ### 1/5 — Terrible service *2022-02-13, version 1.1.1* I ordered from here and didn’t receive my order or any communication on why I didn’t receive my order, if it was running late, etc. I contacted customer service via email, phone, and text and all they offered me 0 resolutions and were so ridiculously slow or unresponsive. They just kept asking me if I had received my order even though the whole reason I reached out to them was because I didn’t? This was over the span of 3 days, so I didn’t know whether to get groceries elsewhere or not. I don’t think this business is well developed at all and it’s completely unreliable. ### 1/5 — Terrible service *2022-02-12, version 1.1.1* All of the 15-20 minute delivery apps in NYC manage to get me food with no issue quickly every time. I’ve ordered from Avo at least 50 times and am done using them due to continued frustrations. This app requires you to order before 11am for same day delivery, and then it gets delivered at a completely random time without notice - sometimes as late as 9pm. Sometimes they’ll notify you that the order was delivered and it never was - and you’re stuck TEXTING their customer support waiting for them to respond (no call customer support, just text and email). If you want your groceries delivered at random times and to be frustrated this is the perfect app for you. ### 1/5 — Unable to submit orders *2022-02-07, version 1.1.1* App isn’t working. Unable got sub’s orders. Just sits on spinning circle. This is the third time have tried to use this company/service and every time there has been a problem.
