I use internet radio and that works well but it would be nice if next and previous on the wheel changed the channel, though I don’t know if that is possible with subsonic. Caching is working again. After v.24 the cache failed me, though the failure was due to a 10 hour file was saved to the cache causing it to crash if you tried to open the cache once saved. Smaller files worked properly. ### 4/5 — Feedback: shortcuts? *2024-09-30* The app is wonderful and works great with my ampache installation. I was wondering if more shortcuts integrations could be added, such as starting a playlist (randomized play or not), starting a song, continuing playing a specific playlist from last bookmark…? Could it be possible to use the playlist miniature as the song image as well? ### 3/5 — Cache is broken *2024-05-21* The last few releases the cache has been broken. The last version that worked correctly was 24.2.1. The app caches properly, but when you click on the cache button the app crashes. The cache button works properly if nothing is in the cache. I bought this mainly because it advertised Siri support ... it doesn’t. **Developer response:** Hi Further Siri support beyond what it has is on the backlog of things to add. I’m curious about your screenshot comment as they are taken from a running version with default settings. What exactly is different for you? Thanks Rich ### 4/5 — Très très bonne appli *2020-06-10* Pour ceux qui copient leur vieux cds en fichiers numériques et qui veulent avoir accès à leur discothèque partout grâce au cloud c’est la solution la moins onéreuse que j’ai trouvé. 5 euros et puis c’est tout. Et cela marche assez bien! Ne remplace pas apple music ou spotify au niveau des nouveautés musicales mais pour ceux qui ont un nombre de morceaux assez conséquents ( et introuvables) payer 10 euros par mois pour écouter ses cds pas intéressant. Superbe appli - et depuis la dernière mise à jour elle est d’une rapidité énorme - merci au développeur qui a fait un gros travail d’optimisation!!! Par contre 4 étoiles car le design un peu austère - au niveau technique rien à redire! ### 5/5 — Must have! *2020-06-03* That is my first thing app review on the AppStore : I use AvSub on a daily basis since a few years and I get the best of what I need for my madsonic library! On the job transcoding is a great feature. Cache storage is great for offline use. Design of the interface is very pleasant and responsive. On top of that, the developer is very nice for any troubleshooting issues. I had some of the free apps most of which are just ugly but for the others that look okay none seem to be as customizable as AVSub. You can show or hide certain features and change the colours of the user interface. Casting feather works really well and is Implement in a very convenient way. I even paid for the Video playback portion of this and if you have TV shows it will add there cover art as well which is nice. My only problem with the app is that my movies don't show up. I suspect that's because they're not in subfolders like the TV shows are and need to be for the app to identify them. Worst issue however is every time I try to play something it crashes to the Home Screen. Well you will have to look at where you are in whatever because chances are good it wont start playing again. Oh it says it is playing but there is no sounds. You have to completely close the app the. Reopen and go find the place you were manually and start again. Want to listen to the latest episode of a podcast? Nope it will say you are listening to that latests episode but it will actually be from a month ago. Such a frustrating app to use i wish i never bought ### 1/5 — Buggy Bluetooth playback *2021-01-31* It has the potential to be a nice, feature rich app. However, it has always been buggy playing audio through Bluetooth. Despite several reports, the issues just morph into something with slightly different symptoms, rather than actually getting fixed. ### 1/5 — Nickel and dime, piecemeal features *2020-11-03* This app disabled common features into in-app purchases. Really shameful. These are features that many of the other subsonic apps give away for free. The whole reason I bought the app was because it had Apple Watch support. The Apple Watch app only has playlists where you have to upload the entire songs in full. It doesn’t access your subsonic server. This app is a serious disappointment and the greed is really disgusting. **Developer response:** Hi I’d love to know what features you’re talking about? The in app purchases are clearly listed on the App Store and the app offers a multitude of features without any further purchases. Thanks Rich ### 1/5 — Lacking playlist support and Apple Watch sync buggy *2020-01-13* 1. No intuitive way to edit playlist. You can add songs only to “active” playlist which means no way to build multiple playlists at the same time. 2. No way to play playlist in offline mode. Tapping playlists button starts server connection, tapping cache does not list playlists. How do I play my playlist when offline? 3. Syncing 55 songs playlist to Apple Watch took me couple hours. The process seems to be breaking and getting stuck on transcoding or watch sync status. It goes well for couple of songs then I have to restart it. ### 1/5 — Updated review: disappointing *2018-11-21* Update: it’s been disappointing as of late. It was crashing consistently during searches. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now it crashes upon launching. I receive a complex error message. I have forwarded it to the developer. I am hoping he comes through as he has in the past. Unfortunately, until then, I can not recommend anymore. Flawless. Easy setup. Sound is on par. The best part is when you ask a question, the developer gets back to you quickly. That's rare. Highly recommended. **Developer response:** If you can send me any crash reports, that would really help. This is my #1 app without really a close second. Developer is still updating the UI and adding formatting options and he’s a good bloke to boot. If there’s a preferred server for my 2017 iMac over Subsonic I’d love to hear about it. Happy user 🙏🏻 ### 5/5 — Excellent app with Apple Watch support *2024-10-14* This app does everything that I hoped to do with Emby, I purchased Emby lifetime hoping that someday I would have the ability to directly transfer music to my Watch without using Apples Software. This actually works more reliably than transferring music from the phone to watch in the watch app. Also appreciate the customisation options. Like a previous review mentioned, it would be good if we could silence the purchase notifications. ### 5/5 — Not developers fault. *2024-06-29, version 26.2.2* This developer of this IOS app has deep customization options that none of the others offer. Unfortunately since the developer of Subsonic has bought what used to be open source software and hasn’t developed it since Mac OS Mavericks (ten years ago) it makes for many obstacles. Easy interface, extensive as-is, and a right balance of add-ons if you have a more complex environment. Features are added as consistently as bugs are fixed and with a striving for smoothness and consistency in the interface. Without this app there is a good chance I would have given up on my Subsonic setup before it could have realized its potential. I rarely go out of my way to review an app but when I saw that after all the effort and dedication put in by the developer it only had 3.8 stars I made it a point to profess my appreciation for everything that they’ve done.
