The app only utilizes data from NOAA sensor locations which are not necessarily near your location . The developers should incorporate personal weather stations data from Weather Underground to alleviate the problem. ### 4/5 — Regarding update 9.2.26 *2023-09-21* Great app, no nonsense. However, after the most recent update, I have one complaint. The new radar is much higher resolution, which is nice, but takes a SIGNIFICANTLY longer time to load/update the loop. Like 3 times as long as the old radar, which was 90% as good. On iPhone 12 w/ fast wireless connection or on 5g, doesn’t matter. You then need to delete and reinstall it. Contacted developer, who had no interest in looking at nor fixing issue. Was a great weather app otherwise. Wind Speed and direction in daily forecast 2. No ads 3. NOAA/NWS warnings, watches, special statements 4. Forecast discussion from NOAA/NWS Weak feature: 1. I don't know what happened today though. Nothing refreshes - as soon as I hit refresh it crashes. Can't get any info. For anyone who doesn't have the app yet, you should still get it. I’ve used it for about a year, and it delivers in a simple, yet practical way. As a pilot, weather is always a factor, so a person must pick their weather sources carefully. This app has been great for planning and situational awareness. Great job AWeather. To the developers, the only thing I would add is the ability to quick search a city by name. Otherwise, rock on, and keep it frosty! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — New Version is Broken *2025-01-02, version 9.3.9* I’ve used this app for years and it has been my go to weather app. Tried to open it today after the newest version update came out and now it crashes immediately no matter what I do. Tried uninstalling and re-installing several times. New version is not working! ### 1/5 — Bad update 12/31 *2024-12-31, version 9.3.9* After updating the app won’t open, crashes immediately ### 1/5 — Used to be my goto Weather App *2023-10-07, version 9.2.26* I guess they just don’t care anymore. Doesn’t load current day forecast, shows night before & tomorrow day but doesn’t load tomorrow night forecast either, then ok for every day & night after. Nothing on hourly forecast, radar crashes or takes forever to load, satellite data won’t load. I paid for the full version and now that they have our money they don’t support it anymore. Rip Off!!! ### 1/5 — Still crashes *2023-06-07, version 9.2.19* After 3 updates the iPadOS version is still broken. This has required repeated attempts at reloading. Worse, however, is the frequent crashes in which the app simply freezes. These issues are too much for too little in return. The same weather data is available elsewhere. Time to move along. ### 1/5 — Time to move on *2023-01-31, version 9.2.15* Use to be a great app. For the past several months my favorites won’t load all the data. Have to use reload button which works sometimes and not others. App will then lock up or crash. Then it gets stuck in startup mode. Once that happens you have to delete the app and reinstall and set up all your favorite locations again. Will work for awhile then gets stuck in start up mode again. Have to delete again. Developer doesn’t seem to want to maintain the app anymore. ### 1/5 — Crashes After Update *2022-04-07, version 9.2.9* Used to wok great (although radar map would never load, which is the only reason I did this update), but since updating 3 days ago, app will no longer load weather, and after a minute of spinning wheels, it crashes. ### 1/5 — Current location weather *2022-01-08, version 9.2.1* All other weather apps provide weather info for your current location when opened. After several years of use and comparisons to other WX providers, Avanti Weather remains at the top of my personal list. Updates come through as needed and are concise. The UI is very informative. Forecasting information is reliable across multiple favorite locations. Well done, Avanti Weather. I appreciate that it pulls its weather information from the NWS and NOAA, and displays everything in a logical, easy to digest format. The recent update made the UI look even better, which is impressive given that it already looked great. It’s surprisingly polished and impressive for a free app, but I decided to pay the low price for the full version to support the developer. It doesn't have moving backgrounds, pretty pictures, or other useless eye candy. It DOES, however, report all the weather data most folks would ever want. Temp, wind speed and direction, cloud cover? Check. Satellite loop? Check. Forecast explanation so you can learn what the forecasting meteorologist was thinking? Check. Ability to track a virtually unlimited number of locations? Check.
