But the 2026 update is terrible and a perfect example of developer idiocy and QA/QC failure. It used to be easy to start a recording and multitask with other apps…not anymore. But the biggest fiasco is the interface. Many setting changes, which I use all the time, are rendered in small print with dark gray font on black. This is totally unreadable for older eyes. And there are hundreds of staff in my department who complain about the visual updates too, I get the emails. Most of us have gone back to Apple’s voice memo app, a sacrifice in sound quality and file format options, but at least you can see the interface in a dark meeting room or classroom. I use screenshots of the current version, and the screenshots of the previous version, as a lecture topic on “what to not do” in a software development class I teach. ### 1/5 — 30 seconds then stops working ??! *2026-08-01, version 10.0.4* It worked for years… now it stops recording after 30 seconds ### 1/5 — Longtime User *2026-07-30, version 10.0.4* I’m a longtime user who used to love this app, now it just does not work and I hate it. I hit record and if I move the phone it shuts off (I think it’s from moving the phone but who knows). I thought I was recording my nephews band live, but I got nothing because it shut the record function off. I thought maybe I did something so I tested it over and over again and it kept happening. The app is just no good anymore. It can’t be trusted. The security feature is gone. It just disappeared with the new version. No explanation, nothing.
