Army once again got scammed into a terrible app with horrible features and no support. They told me it does it automatically and closed my ticket. Nothing was resolved. This app is a waste of government resources. I tried to change my password, still didn’t work. This app is relied on by service members. A little more care should be taken to work on the bugs with in the app. When you reach out for a “support team” it’s not there, only automated messages… I would give this app zero stars but I’m forced to give it one. ### 1/5 — Worst messaging app *2025-11-26* All I want is to be able to turn off notifications for screen shots. One person sends a picture and then I get 30 notifications that everyone in the group took a screenshot. The military is using this? ### 1/5 — Annoying and not user friendly *2025-10-28* It is amazing to me how difficult this app makes it to get anything done. Instead of being a one stop shop for everything, I have to routinely use other means to get stuff done. I’m assuming a former intel officer made this app. You can’t save or forward photos in group chats. Which is really annoying when trying to get SITREPs done or share information across different chats. File sharing is iffy at best. MS Teams is way better than this half baked app from 2007. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Worst App *2026-08-15* Out of all the similar messaging apps out there for IL5 use, this is the absolute worst. Hopefully the Navy drops the pilot and goes with a better option! ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-07-14* This app basically doesn’t work, isn’t intuitive, and is more frustrating than it’s worth. Just use signal….would rate zero if I could. ### 1/5 — Like returning to the Stone Age *2026-07-10* Wickr is like returning to the Stone Age in terms of ‘quality of life’, UI, and intuitive features (there are very few features in general, for example no way to copy photos). Put more simply, it’s the electronic application embodiment of everything wrong with the government, so it is very fitting ### 1/5 — Surprised by such high reviews! *2026-06-20* AWS scammed everyone here and does not deserve even one single star review. Everything that is a design flaw is deemed by AWS as a user error, and it’s one of the worst designed apps I have ever used. Everyone is being far too kind with their reviews of this godawful app straight from the gates of hell. Thanks a lot, Ross. Files and images are being collected from the group chats and now I have 6gb of stuff that I never needed and can’t clear my storage out. Deleting an app means all that bs register/activation from the beginning. Second: private chat messages are being sent without a notification sometimes. It’s literally up to app if it’s decided to notify you about new conversations. Third is a pop up messaging. I understand that the idea if to keep everything secure but there should be an option to preview a new message. Very raw product that shouldn’t be released and given for use to a departments. ### 2/5 — Bare bones and buggy *2025-10-28* I just started using this and have not received notifications for new messages even though notifications are enabled. Onboarding was difficult since it requires a complex password but fails to give you requirements for it. I’ve had messages show on one device and not another. Why is the choice of cloud platform (AWS) part of the title of the app? Not sure. It sounds like an internal project name that they made public facing. Hopefully functionality improves since I have no other options for my organization. On the bright side, it allows you to edit messages and use emojis. ### 2/5 — Not great for daily communications. *2025-09-13* Images cannot be saved to your device, likely for security purposes, but it also cannot be saved within the app. If sent a picture that I must distribute to another group, it’s impossible to save the image and send to others within the app. It defeats the purpose, as I end up having to use text message for normal communications. --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
