### 4/5 — Beware! Flaky cancellation button

*2025-12-26, version 3.0.162*

There are probably many reasons this app has such a poor overall rating. That should tell you something!

The big one for me is… the flaky cancellation button, which sometimes works (for some people I guess) and sometimes doesn't work— and it won't tell you it didn't work and you will be charged anyway, even if you are within the cancellation period.

They will blame it on a network issue. ;-)

Sometimes you will need technical support to cancel the subscription. Which they will gladly do and still charge you ... even though you canceled during the cancellation period.

### 3/5 — Ciao

*2025-10-26, version 3.0.162*

Buon programma

### 3/5 — Good product. User interface is pants

*2024-02-24, version 3.0.142*

I’m using this on both my phone and my laptop. Works well. Big problems:1 help / user instructions are non-existent / useless. 2 the user interface on the iPhone is pathetic / near useless. Shame because this software actually works really well and does good / useful stuff.

### 4/5 — Works as well as it needs too

*2022-03-14, version 3.0.24*

Can do with improvements but it works as well as it needs too, been using for years and never let me down

### 4/5 — Ottimo

*2022-03-14, version 3.0.24*

Valido supporto

### 3/5 — Landscape view not available

*2021-05-05, version 2.1.699*

The major gripe I have with the app is that file names are truncated when in portrait (the only) view. I use yymmdd at the beginning of my working file names to be able to sort by prep date. That means pretty much all I can see of the file name is the date, leaving the subject unknowable. I’d like to be able to turn the phone to landscape view and see the entire file name.

### 2/5 — Where is the new promised version ?!

*2020-12-08, version 2.1.648*

Hi,

it was planned to be able to encrypt the files with the paid application. Where are you ?

And :
when can we expect to have authentication for opening the application with Face ID ?

### 5/5 — Works great

*2020-02-02, version 2.1.588*

The negative reviews are from uses trying this as a stand-alone app. It only works if you’ve paid for the premium desktop subscription. I have that and this works perfect with cloud stored encrypted documents. Just open them on the app to view them if you don’t have access to your desktop. It’s a double layer of security. If some hacks your cloud storage they can only download encrypted gibberish.

### 1/5 — App unbrauchbar.

*2020-01-28, version 2.1.588*

Man benötigt ein Konto. Damit ist die App unbrauchbar für Privatanwender.

### 5/5 — People need to read.

*2019-09-13, version 2.1.400*

This app is for paid subscribers of AxCrypt to decrypt files on their mobile device. It does not yet encrypt on a mobile device.

If you have the free version of XCrypt you can encrypt and decrypt your files on your desktop computer, without having to pay.

Again, people need to read the notes...

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-01-08, version 3.0.162*

Not working

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Do What It Says

*2025-02-12, version 3.0.162*

Despite claiming to be “free forever”, the only free part seems to be the Password Manager. It did offer to unencrypt a file for me, but as I don’t so far have any encrypted files I couldn’t try it out, nor could I see any way I could encrypt one.

You can get a free trial of the other features, but that’s all. As I just want to encrypt one file I don’t feel inclined to pay a subscription, especially as without beginning the sign-up process I couldn’t even see the cost involved.

If the description had said that in the first place I wouldn’t have wasted time trying to navigate my way around a confusing sign-up process which refused access to the Terms & Conditions it was requiring me to sign up to (is that even legal?). There was a link which turned blue when I tapped on it, but however many times I tried, it wouldn’t open. I eventually had to Google them to find out what they are.

I’m sorry, but if an app can’t be honest with me from the get-go as to what it’s offering & how much it costs to use its services, there’s no way I’m entrusting it with either a subscription or my data.

### 1/5 — Poor quality

*2023-05-19*

Pretty useless on mobile and breaks on PC leaving you with encrypted unrecoverable files. Check the forums for issues before trusting this.

### 1/5 — I Wanted a Single-Payment Not a Monthly Subscription

*2022-10-20, version 3.0.42*

This app isn’t for me. I’m not interested in incurrent yet another endless monthly bill, regardless of the actual amount. Time for me to resume my searching.

### 1/5 — AxCrypt not disclosing cost

*2022-06-28, version 3.0.32*

This is not freeware. It is actually subscription based and not cheap for what it is.

AxCrypt says “ Decrypting and viewing files is now free on all platforms, including mobile”. Apple AppStore description says it encrypts as well; there is no mention of a Pro version on the AppStore.

See no reason to change review. The description is incomplete and misleading.

Should say” these features are free on the iOS platform __”. “These features require a monthly subscription fee of__ for as long as you use the product, and may be subject to increases.” That would be an honest representation.

### 1/5 — Limited functionality & verified email required

*2022-01-06, version 3.0.4*

Long ago axcrypt was my go-to for securing files. Not any more. The app is intentionally very limited and you must pay an ongoing subscription. YOU CANNOT ENCRYPT UNLESS YOU PAY A SUBSCRIPTION. Also they require your confirmed email even to use the tiny non-subscription portion of the app.

### 1/5 — ——

*2021-10-28, version 2.1.699*

Se volete l’app gratuita Evitate di scaricarla non funziona. Serve obbligatoriamente un abbonamento per poterla utilizzare.

### 1/5 — Broken on Apple Ecosystem

*2021-05-24, version 2.1.699*

I bought an Axcrypt subscription for Mac OS and it doesn’t even work on Mac. Therefore, if you have a Mac, this app is worthless, because this is a companion app to the desktop app. It’s really really disappointing from a big company like Axcrypt. I contacted axcrypt and asked for a refund and never got a response.

**Developer response:** Sorry for the late response, but I can't seem to find any enquiry that would be matching your name around this time. I can only assume it somehow got lost (either in our system or on the way there). Please reach out to support@axcrypt.net and we'll get it sorted.

Cripto i file e li salvo su Dropbox.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t encrypt on iPhone. Useless to me.

*2020-07-12, version 2.1.588*

The description say it works in the iPhone EXCEPT that it cannot encrypt file!. What’s the point then? I can create/use various files on my phone but cannot encrypt them?? Or re-crypt them? I have to send them to my PC to encrypt and use them? That’s just stupid. Am I missing something?

È una garanzia in quanto sicurezza.

### 5/5 — Meilleur logiciel et application de cryptage

*2022-03-23, version 3.0.24*

Facile d’utilisation et d’approche conviviale, pour avoir l’esprit tranquille pour ses documents confidentiels

### 5/5 — Almost Perfect

*2022-03-15, version 3.0.24*

I’ve used the PC and iOS versions for several years. I’m very happy to see that iOS encryption is finally available, however it only encrypts files on Google Drive and Dropbox. I primarily use OneDrive, so an update to work with OneDrive and the iOS files app (which can access OneDrive) would earn the fifth star.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2022-03-14, version 3.0.24*

I have been using AxCrypt on my laptop, iPad and iPhone for several years. It works very well on all of them. I also like the password manager. Highly recommend AxCrypt Premium.

### 5/5 — Great product

Very easy to use and works with my cloud storage.

### 5/5 — Cool

*2021-04-05, version 2.1.699*

Cool

### 5/5 — Simple to use. Encrypt those important files

*2020-12-16, version 2.1.648*

Essential for encrypting files on the cloud and laptops. Easy right click menu. Inexpensive. Great customer service.
