### 4/5 — Please Bring Back Read Status

*2024-06-05*

I love this app and have been a reader for almost a couple of years now. Besides the great journalism, what I like the most about this app is that the articles are easy to read, but it used to show me which articles I have read. With the latest update a few days ago, it seems that feature has been removed. After I click on an article to read it now, it doesn’t show a read status so I have no way of knowing if an article I have read has been updated or not. I hope Axios will restore the simple yet important feature. Other than that, this is a great app. I will be more than happy to change my review to five stars if the feature is restored.

### 4/5 — enjoy the daily articles

*2023-12-17*

👍

### 5/5 — The News I Truly Need - Plus Smiles

*2023-12-13*

I am a news junkie and I read all sorts of newsfeeds throughout the day. But my absolute favorites are Axios and Axios-Twin Cities. Smart Brevity makes it quick and easy for me to understand the most important news stories of the day. Plus, Axios is written with a style and sense of humor that brings a smile to my face. A great way to start each morning.

### 5/5 — Brief and informative

*2023-11-09*

Axios offers a brief, intelligent, competent and comprehensive news summary for those with only a few minutes available. There is also the option to go deeper and read further. With several “editions” available throughout the day such as AM, PM, WORLD, LATINO, plus podcasts that respect the listeners’ time limitations, Axios news has been an invaluable addition to my daily information intake.

### 4/5 — Presenting topic

*2023-10-27*

Beautiful way of presenting the topic

### 5/5 — Very efficient and effective

*2023-09-15*

Love the news app! Instead of just showing you sound bites like crime activities or celebrity events, they actually show you news that can impact people in our everyday life. Highly recommend it for those that want to continue to be informed in a fast efficient time.

### 5/5 — Axios - a quick pathway into credible well researched information

*2023-08-17*

I have been a fan of Axios for many years - before the rename - and this team has been a constant source of solid information backed up by reliable data, etc, sources. It’s timely and as a mba professor, I often find topics that appear in Axios suitable for discussion with my students. And the cost, pretty well worth it! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

### 5/5 — Axios

*2023-07-25*

Love it !

### 5/5 — Appreciated

*2023-07-19*

As an expat I appreciate the concise, and well written reporting. When time allows, I especially enjoy the option to “go deeper.” I have been reading Axios since its inception. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Start brevity is the future of all communications

*2023-06-29*

Can’t see myself spending a day without it

### 3/5 — Something Lost

*2023-06-09*

Not exactly sure how to articulate this, but Axios has lost something important over the last two or theee years. It feels to me like it’s focus has shifted from it’s original excellence in journalism to revenue generation.

It is no longer my first read each morning. More like number four or five, and I seldom feel as if my time has been invested as well as it was in the early years of Axios. Much of the writing now feels generic. AI?

More focus on excellence in journalism and less on hyping its approach to brevity in writing. Solid idea, bland execution!

### 5/5 — As Described

*2023-05-20*

My go to news app that delivers as described on the iOS install page. Concise and organized in a manner that makes sense to my disorganized mind. Worth trying.

### 4/5 — My first stop for US news throughout the day

*2023-04-23*

I’m an American living in the UK and I read Axios, NYT, WaPo for the US perspective as well as the Times and the Guardian for the UK perspective. The first one I read, almost invariably, when I pick up my phone is Axios. There is much less to wade through, which also makes the app easier to manage.
I would love it if Axios provided more international coverage, particularly for the UK. And I’d pay for that. Unfortunately (for me) though, they’re going in the opposite direction, providing more local news in the States.

### 5/5 — Great reads

*2023-04-19*

Love that I can get the latest pertinent information but can also get the full story if wanted. So many news outlets add wasted words and drivel and you also seem to be bipartisan.

### 5/5 — I read the Axios morning brief first in the morning

*2023-03-08, version 2.4.2*

Great synopsis of current headlines with options to read more details. They also have local coverages of some cities. I read the Des Moines addition and learn more interesting facts from Axios DM than the DM Register or local news.

### 5/5 — Great app. Smart brevity wins!

*2023-02-06, version 2.4.2*

Love the bottom line up front style with Go Deeper option. Bravo for not filing the news feed with clock bait like all the other news sites.

One request — please add a sans serif font option for the news copy text. The font you use is not easy on the eyes.

### 5/5 — Axios

*2023-01-27*

Everything should be this good. Simply great, briefly perfect.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just keeps declining

*2024-06-21*

3-4 years ago Axios was my favorite news source and a frequently used app. The news has gradually taken on a more alarmist tone. Axios i am already terrified of climate change so why the ceaseless articles that seem only to amplify those fears with little to offer beyond “be more scared”. The app update that removed the recent articles tab has really killed it for me. I do not want to search through 10 different sub tabs that have their own sub tabs to get to actual content. The quality of the content has diminished and the means of accessing that content has become burdensome and irritating. It’s a bummer.

### 1/5 — Neocon filtered news outlet

*2023-08-16*

Not independent, supporting wokeness, US global hegemony, pro-unipolar world, not a word about Hunter Biden or Minsk accords. Basically a neocon outlet, reporting on selected news of their choice and conveniently leaving other news out. Some longitudinal analytics are useful.

### 1/5 — font issue

*2022-06-21*

need more font size options. on 13 pro max the next size is too big but the current font size is too small.

### 1/5 — Strange power drain

*2022-04-16, version 1.9.3*

I hardly ever looked at axios on my phone. I didn’t even have the app open, but I noticed that I couldn’t keep my phone charged enough yesterday. I went to sleep and the next morning my phone was dead. Went to charge it and look at battery usage and it was 100% Axios running in the background. Deleted app. Didn’t like it’s news notifications anyways. Weird emojis and not enough info in the notifications to tell you anything.

### 1/5 — If you only care about left leaning issues, this is the app for you

*2021-05-29, version 1.4.0*

If we were in a socialist country, Axios could run for the official organ of the party. All articles are written to establish or excuse left wing decisions, which is curious to see from so called “journalists”. The left wing bias includes of course a massive daily dose of how the US is the most racist country in the world, last one being that racism is killing Latinos. It’s almost embarrassing. And as far as advertisements, if your message supports a right wing idea, you need not apply.

### 2/5 — Excellent journalism, misleading ads

*2024-06-07*

It’s difficult to respect their journalism when it is presented within content that misleads readers. I’ve become more savvy at bypassing them when scrolling through articles, but it’s massively annoying that I have to focus on not mistakenly reading an ad. Also, between EVERY article? What a hassle. I get that ads are needed for revenue to keep the app free, but make it more obvious it’s an ad. I might actually read them if it wasn’t presented in such an underhanded way.

Love the work of Axios; it’s a shame they pollute their journalists’ hard work with fake reporting.

### 2/5 — Interesting App, destroys battery life in background

*2022-05-17, version 2.0.1*

Great news app and very good interface, but cut my battery life by 70% from running in the background somehow. Even tried closing it but sometimes still would have the issue. Great app except that it makes my phone die within 6 hours, so I can’t keep it on my phone.

After deleting, battery life returned to normal. Will redownload after an update to fix battery usage issues.

### 2/5 — Had to delete app due to battery drain

*2022-05-11, version 2.0.1*

I used to like this app, but in the last week, it’s been running constantly in the background. When I checked battery usage in the battery settings section, the Axios app was at 57%. It was causing my phone to uncharacteristically overheat. My battery was running out much more quickly than it ever had in the past. I’m not sure what changed with the app but I had to uninstall it. I enjoy Axios‘s news coverage, but I can’t keep the app on my phone if it’s going to cause this degraded performance on my phone. I’ll just stick with the email updates and their website.

### 2/5 — Battery drain in latest version

*2022-02-24*

Love the app, but the latest version is draining my battery with background processes. It has used 54% of my battery (new iPhone 13 Mini) since it came off the charger this morning and I haven’t even opened the app.

### 2/5 — Love the content, the app is sloppy

*2022-01-17, version 1.8.2*

I really love the Axios approach to news and have found it’s note my first news site of the day. But this app is pretty sloppy. It regularly fair to render articles correctly, logs me out all the time, and runs silently in the background sticking up battery.

Anytime I realize my battery is suddenly at 50% in the middle of the day, it’s almost always because this app was running some kind of video in the background.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Current Top News -Great Venue

*2024-11-02*

Axios offers quick and easy to read articulate and concise reporting of current news headlines. The ability to filter news by geography is also a great option for those looking for more locally-detailed reporting in their state, city, etc. the preview page allows readers to catch up quickly with basic facts, or dive in and show more of the article for the full in-depth details of top news events happening around the world. I highly recommend Axios for unbiased, accurate, and current reporting needs for anyone looking for the full spectrum of current news in an easy to use app.

### 5/5 — Love The App So Much, I Wish It Wasint Leaving

*2024-10-22*

i use axios everyday because it is so simple to read the news it is just there. it’s not confusing the text is big and it’s easy. i hate that the app is leaving the app stores i love this app so much. there is no other app like this available and i beg axios team please don’t take it off the store! this reminds me when flappy bird was removed, now people bought it and are bringing it back and i hope to do that when im older.

thank you axios, for literally part of my bedtime and morning routine (yes i read your emails) ilysm and ill miss you

❤️
(is this a late april fools day prank, because the prank part is that everyone thinks its going to be on april 1st but that’s where the surprise comes, either way im still sad)

### 5/5 — Efficient, informative and accurate

Very happy with the app, it is fast and all of its articled are streamlined for diving deep and sharing. I loved the website and now love the app. Way to go!

### 5/5 — Trust

*2024-08-01*

It is my go-to news source every morning.

### 5/5 — Smart and brief.

*2024-06-24*

A daily news letter that lives up to its name. Why it matters. Short and concise information delivered in a format that invites the reader in knowing you don’t have to stay very long. What it doesn’t do. Not available in Canada. We’re an interesting neighbour that needs this style of daily reporting.

### 5/5 — best news source

### 5/5 — The best

*2024-03-26*

The best.

### 5/5 — News that doesn’t waste my time

*2024-01-03*

I like Axios because it’s a “just the facts” kind of news site. Tightly written.

### 5/5 — Great replacement for Apple News

*2023-12-14*

I was looking for an Apple News replacement after they raised the subscription cost. I evaluated several alternatives, and most turned out to be either clunky aggregates of news articles (many of which were hidden behind paywalls) or apps from politically biased media outlets. Axios - thankfully - delivers the news in a clean, easy to read format that sticks to the facts. I really appreciate the work they've put into this app.
