## What is Ayumigusa?

An iPhone app that puts a small living scene on your home screen.

Your step count moves it along. A seed sprouts, buds form, and the
flower opens — one stage at a time, from walking alone. Keep the day
itself too: where you went and what the weather was.

Every plant is modelled in 3D. Turn one with a finger and look at it
from the side or the back. The pot follows the real world, and the
light shifts in direction and colour as the hours pass.

■ What you can do

• A plant on your home screen: the time, the date, your steps, and
the plant as it stands today
• A walking diary: keep a day, with the place and the weather beside it
• 21 plants from around the world: Violet, Shepherd's Purse, Rose,
Tulip, Daisy, Lavender, Sunflower, Poppy, Columnar Cactus,
Lily of the Valley, Baby Blue Eyes, Japanese Morning Glory,
Money Tree, Japanese Maple, Cherry Blossom, Baobab, Ginkgo,
  Hydrangea, Cosmos, Narcissus, Pansy
• Six stages from sprout to full bloom, moved only by your steps
• A collection shelf, in 3D, where finished plants stand side by side
• Where each one comes from, and what ten of the flowers have
  traditionally meant
• Choose the pot: unglazed terracotta or white porcelain
• Choose the typeface from four
• Light through the day: morning to evening, and a lamp after dark
• Weather in the scene: clear, cloudy, and rain each look different
• Automatic step counting through Apple Health

■ Who it's for

• Anyone who would like something quiet to show for the walking
• Anyone tired of a step counter that is only a number
• Anyone who wants their home screen to look like their own
• Anyone drawn to plants and trees from around the world
• Anyone worn out by pushy notifications and ads
• Anyone looking for a collection app that stays calm

■ How one pot goes

1. Connect Apple Health and your steps are counted automatically
2. Keep the day in the diary, with its place and weather
3. Six stages, from first sprout to full bloom, moved only by walking
4. The finished plant joins the shelf
5. Plant the next one and keep collecting

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5.4 — 2026-09-10

• Added six new plants to discover and collect.
• Refreshed the 3D designs of cherry blossom, Japanese maple, ginkgo, and morning glory.
• Added a new Celadon pot color.
• Updated the app’s typography and enhanced collection details with flower meanings and beautifully arranged poetry.
• Improved growth animations, screen transitions, and widget visuals.

### 2.5.3 — 2026-09-07

Redesigned the cherry blossom as a miniature bonsai with soft lighting and shadows.
Refined its growth animation so branches and blossoms develop more naturally.
Improved pot color updates and shadows in widgets and the collection.
Moved the clock to the top right, alongside the weather and date, for a cleaner layout.
Optimized plant image updates to reduce processing load.

### 2.5.2 — 2026-09-05

■ The moment it blooms

When a plant finishes blooming, the app now shows it to you right there —
the plant, its name, and the number that says where it falls among every
bloom in the world. You can make a share image without leaving the screen.

■ Fixed: the widget kept showing the older plant

After a plant bloomed, the home screen widget could stay on the previous
stage. Depending on the pot you had chosen and the hour of the day, it
could stay that way indefinitely. Fixed.

■ Sixteen grounds for the share image

The share image for a finished plant offered eight dark grounds. Eight
light ones have been added, switched with a Light / Dark toggle. The text
color follows the brightness of the ground.

■ Smaller things

- The button after a bloom moved to the right, and now starts the next plant
- "Grow" reads "Growing..." while the plant is rising

### 2.5.1 — 2026-09-02

■ A new name: Ayumigusa

Hanadokei is now Ayumigusa.
Your plants, your collection, and your diary are all still here, just as you left them.

The old name pointed at a clock. The new one points at what the app is for:
walking, and watching something grow alongside the days.
The icon is new as well — a violet, painted in ink.

■ Two new plants: Violet and Shepherd's Purse

Two plants of the spring fields join the app, bringing it to 21 in all.
Both spread their leaves from the base, so they stand differently from the rest.

■ Fixes to how the plants are drawn

• The tip of a stem could look like a dark hole. Fixed, on every plant.
• A stem could appear to pass through a leaf or a flower. Fixed, on every plant.

■ Widget

• The plant is a little smaller and sits lower, so it no longer meets the clock

### 2.5.0 — 2026-08-26

■ Choose your pot

You can now pick a pot from Customize.
Two to choose from: Terracotta and Porcelain White.

Your choice shows on the home screen widget and on the plant in the app.
Plants in your collection are a record — they stay in the same pot, whatever you pick.
When you share, you can choose the pot on the share screen.

■ Growth plays back smoothly

The growth you see when you open the app has been rebuilt.
The plant used to jump at the moment it moved to the next stage.
Now it grows through without the jump.

■ Also in this version

- The plant in the widget sits a little lower, so it no longer touches the top edge
