## What is B?

Close the lid. It spins.

B-Side turns the hinge of your iPhone into the lid of a CD player. Open it, place a disc, close it, and the music starts the way it used to.

■ FOUR MACHINES, ONE HINGE
· CD Player — close the lid and it spins up; open it and it stops
· Turntable — drop the needle anywhere; hold the record to slow it down
· Cassette Deck — side A, side B, and just a little wow and flutter
· FM Tuner — stations from around the world on a dial; turn the knob and find them through the static
Every machine is built from real parts, and sounds like it.

■ MADE FOR iPHONE DUO
Stand it up like a laptop: the booklet stays on top, the machine lies on the desk, and the equalizer slides in right under your fingers. Open it flat for a CD case. Close it and the disc keeps spinning on the outside screen.

■ LINER NOTES FOR EVERY ALBUM
The inside of the lid is a booklet, typeset from your music: the cover, the tracklist, lyrics in time with the song, credits and notes. Missing covers and credits are filled in from MusicBrainz and Wikipedia, and left blank rather than guessed. Old tags in broken encodings are restored.

■ BURN A CD, SEND IT AS A LINK
Fill 74 minutes, pick a label color, add stickers and write the title by hand. Add a letter. Your friend listens in B-Side, or in a browser if they don't have it. The whole CD lives inside the link, so nothing is stored on any server.

■ WHEREVER YOUR MUSIC LIVES
· Your Apple Music library
· Your own files — FLAC, ALAC, MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF, including hi-res
· NAS and media servers — Synology Audio Station, Jellyfin, Emby and Subsonic-compatible servers
· Network and cloud folders — WebDAV, FTP, and SMB or cloud storage connected in the Files app
· Internet radio — more than 50,000 stations

■ RETRO OUTSIDE, MODERN INSIDE
Your own files get a 10-band equalizer and machine character (tape wow, record crackle), and a quality lamp shows Hi-Res and Lossless. Apple Music plays exactly as it is. The Lock Screen and widgets show the machine that's spinning.

■ ON EVERY iPHONE AND iPAD
Without a hinge, you open and close the lid on screen. The real feel is on iPhone Duo.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-11-01

B-Side 1.1

■ Apple Music albums open more reliably
Fixed an issue where tapping an album did nothing on some devices. You'll now see it loading right away, and a clear message if it can't be loaded.

■ Built for landscape
Turn your iPhone sideways and the turntable and CD player fill the screen, with the buttons on the right. The closed-lid screen and the iPhone Duo outer screen are laid out for landscape too.

■ Faster play and pause
Music stops the moment you tap, and the Lock Screen buttons update instantly.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-31
