The activity indicator indicates gathering of Geospatial data, it may be spinning for a long time if the app is used indoors, since indoors it is harder to obtain geospatial data. 
While the indicator is active - the functioning of gathering the drops is available – you need to go outdoors and collect the drop by physically approaching it.
