It’d be great if you could toggle the speaker/scope/keyboard graphics to allow the actual ui to be bigger. This is the single thing that really lets this synth down. A crap ton of great synths available for iOS and a lot of other tools that are mandatory for this platform. I gotta say regardless of this synths shortcomings I love it too bits. The super limited interface forces me to work not harder but more thoughtfully. The sound of it completely exceeded what I thought it might be. BabyAudio is quickly becoming my favorite set of tools based on fun factor and end result. This synthesizer sounds amazing and sits well in the mix for sure. Recommended. ### 5/5 — A lot to like about this synth *2023-07-24* For what seems to be a simple 2 oscillator synth this can produce a surprisingly wide range of sounds from warm lush pads to great lead and analog style sequencer type sounds that stand out in a mix. It does have its own character, think synthwave but can be used other styles. It’s one of the few synths that sounds like it could be from genuine hardware. The only minor requests I have is for a way to delete a user preset and a colour option to select from a colour picker as I don’t like the colours that much. ### 3/5 — Interface is not good IMHO *2023-07-24* Sounds great but the controls are just too small on my iPad 8 which is a decent-sized screen. The waveform and speaker are a lot of wasted space and are not as important as the controls. Minimize or remove them and increase the controls proportionally and you might have something. ### 4/5 — Lets Be Honest *2023-07-18* This app is not done. Really, I mean it’s lacking the regular features that audio units should have. That being said, while everyone else is waiting around for updates I decided to just sample the sounds i make with it into a Digitakt and its very nice. The sound that comes from BA-1 is warm and fuzzy. ### 3/5 — Expected more. *2023-06-28* Head scratching omissions of things such as General MIDI functionality and MIDI Learn. Just as well, the UI is so small on an iPhone it is debatably usable. Lol, this app is not even finished. Baby Audio should be hiding in the corner with a dunce cap for this floppy port. Wow. I mean seriously $20? Haha! But.. Im the sucker.. and dang does it sound close to the real thing. Hey Baby Audio, I was glad to test out your beta-ware app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No MIDI SETTINGS *2024-11-04* Unlike the desktop version, this iOS version offers no midi mapping/midi learning/midi settings of any kind. They seem to have given up adding any meaningful updates to this while plugging away at the desktop version. Sad. ### 2/5 — Sounds good, but. currently unusable as an AUV3 *2025-05-12* Love the sound, but unfortunately there is a BUG when using the BA1 as an AUV3, which makes it almost unusable… The delay controls do not work when using it as an AUV3. That also means, you can not turn off the Delay in any presets, that include a delay… Super sad. I wrote the support twice but never got an answer… ### 2/5 — Too small to be usable. *2024-04-05* As others have said - way too small to be usable. I can’t even read the patches in the patch selection menu! It needs to be scalable. It’s so frustrating to use on mobile because everything is currently so miniature When it’s fixed I will improve the rating. The annoying thing is the PC version is great. Hopefully the UI is easy to fix ### 2/5 — Lacking Basic Functionality *2023-07-08* “Let’s charge a premium for an app that is not finished yet so we can fund adding features later” is the trending topic with this app. Don’t waste your money or actually no, do buy it so they can add some basic things like MIDI learn or even generally just add some basic midi functions which would be extra useful. You know?.. like some kind of vintage synth emulator app or something? idk. smh. ### 2/5 — Agree with others here *2023-07-03* Sounds and look are great! midi learn features and a decent manual- leave a lot to be desired. I would have expected more from a $20 app. I’ll change my review when I see any updates to that. A work around for midi learn can be achieved in AUM for those needing that. ### 2/5 — Too limited for the price *2023-06-18* No settings menu, no MIDI options menu, no HOLD button, no MIDI learn, no arpeggiator (even though some of the presets say they’re arps they don’t arpeggiate), no MPE option, no sequencer, no FX menu, no sync option (no clock to sync with). And some odd controls that would have been better off replaced by something more useful (why is there a battery fader? Why does this fader have two lever meters for one function?) If this app were $5 I wouldn’t feel as cheated. ### 2/5 — No MIDI Learn? *2023-06-09* Great to see Baby Audio port this new instrument to iPad (sounds nice and is fun to play), but very disappointing to see that MIDI learn has been removed. This tactic of crippling iPad functionality is sadly being done by too many companies and is really holding back the iPad from becoming an amazing music platform. I’ve got a bazillion music apps on iPads3, 5 & 6 (I really need one iPad with 1TB memory). I had trouble installing BA-1 on the 6 and contacted support on the holiday. They responded the next morning! Great! I did wind up installing the latest iOS, and the problem disappeared.
