This used to be a completely free app without any subscription. They have just recently started asking for money. Nothing wrong with subscription model, but be upfront about it. 
This seems like a sneaky money grab.

**Developer response:** Since this is a non-cloud, local Wi-Fi baby monitor app, it’s not possible for anyone outside your own network to connect to the camera. In some cases, when the monitor briefly disconnects and reconnects, the app may count this as an additional connection, which is likely what you saw. We appreciate you sharing your experience.

As a note: I have decent internet. Functions all over a three story house.
(I’m located in a living room almost directly below my daughters room)

I used this to try and keep track of my daughter because she’s at a stage where she can climb over the edge of her crib. I trusted this to keep an eye on my daughter. Nothing changed on the screen and I figured she was sleeping soundly, until I heard her screaming.
Rushing up the stairs I found the iPad I used flat on its face. 
This app instead of letting me know that it disconnected, or anything changed kept the same screen on.
I’m happy my girls got a set of lungs on her. I don’t recommend this.
