For an App designed to engage a toddler with tapping and pressing things, having ads targeted at adults on the screen, available for them to tap, is just inappropriate. Ads should pop up in the locations parents will be using, such as on app-open, or in the menu. Never on the child screen!! If they need to show ads after a certain amount of time in the lite version, they should go into a lock mode that the parent needs to watch an ad before handing it back to the toddler.
