For each of your routes you can check the avalanche forecast, summit weather pointcast and nearby snotel snowfall history. Previously I had to check several different websites before heading out in the morning. Now this is my go to app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t change my password *2021-09-23* When I try to reset my password so I can login and change my account settings, the app never sends me an email with a link. **Developer response:** Please email me at beta@skithebackcountry.com so I can help troubleshoot this issue. I apologize for the difficulty resetting your password. ### 1/5 — Doesn't seem to work anymore. *2021-01-28* No current forecasts. **Developer response:** Long press on the map to add a weather forecast. Please email beta@skithebackcountry.com and I can help troubleshoot if this is not working. ### 1/5 — Won’t let me cancel trial subscription scam *2019-01-04* Wanted to try this app but the free trial can’t be canceled in the app or on the App Store. The contacts for the app developer are dead ends. Beware of this scam. **Developer response:** Subscriptions can be canceled through the profile tab or directly from your iTunes account. Please email backcountryapp@gmail.com and I will make this right. ### 1/5 — Awful design and UI *2018-01-21* Really poorly designed app. Not intuitive and terrible UI. The slope angle overlay, which you have to pay extra for, is not very precise, which is dangerous, and there is no guide as to how different colors correspond to actual angle. The map download is confusing and I was never able to get it to work. Overall it’s a great idea that was really poorly executed. I’m bummed I spent the money on the pro version and won’t in the future. Indeed, I won’t be using it at all. The tracking function records your activity accurately so u can review the days journey. ### 3/5 — Elevation data is wrong *2023-01-29* I really like the layout of this app, but the weather points I am creating on the map are not displaying the correct altitude. They are generally a couple thousand feet lower than what I know the elevations to be. This is pretty concerning considering how big an impact this has on the weather forecast. Please fix! ### 4/5 — Pretty good *2021-12-05* My only complaint is that I have to change the state in the settings to see Idaho (I live in Washington). Living on the border between both states, it would be nice seeing all my local snowtel sites on the map view. There was a bug where it wouldn’t load the avy report for my main area (mt. hood). I left a review commenting on the bug and the dev responded very quickly and pushed an update to the app with in a couple days fixing it. **Developer response:** Thanks for reporting this bug. I released an update today that fixes the Mt Hood avy forecast.
