### 2/5 — The dice rolls are garbage

*2026-07-25, version 1.1.1*

These have got to be the worst dice rolls I’ve ever seen, the AI ALWAYS manages to get exactly what it needs, hyper unrealistic and I’ve been playing backgammon for 4 decades

### 3/5 — Rules no uniformly applied

*2026-01-11, version 1.1.1*

Game is good to practice. However, the Crawford rule is only applied to black (the player) and the App sees its dice before doubling while black can not.
‘Expert’ level does not play at that level, but uses highly improbable dice to advance.

### 2/5 — AI is awfully “lucky”

*2026-01-05, version 1.1.1*

I don’t trust the integrity of the dice rolls in this game any more than the other reviewers here, it seems quite likely that part of making its “expert” AI (which I would say is decent, but not great - it doesn’t seem to take the larger game context into account very well) competitive is to give it a helping hand with the dice when it is falling behind.

I only played 6 games (of which I won 4, so I don’t think this is sour grapes), so perhaps I was just actually unlucky, but the computer significantly out-pipped me in every game and was also fantastically lucky with me missing opportunities to hit solo pieces upon entering from the bar (In one game, I went 0 for 5 on hitting pieces the computer left open in its end zone when I had a piece on the bar while I was way ahead, “coincidentally” allowing the computer to come back from way behind).

### 3/5 — Dice rolls not random

*2025-08-08, version 1.1.1*

I have played a lot of games. Hard mode just gives player worse die rolls and the computer better dice rolls. Dice rolls are not randomly distributed. But at least it doesn’t have ads.

### 3/5 — It’s a start

*2025-05-13, version 1.1.1*

Nice graphics. Game sometimes will not allow me to make legal moves and second guesses causing way too many undos. Statistically, computer is way too lucky on doubles rolls. When I feel the urge to get belligerent, I’ll play a couple of games here and go out looking for something to destroy. :(

### 3/5 — It’s a start

*2025-05-04*

Nice graphics. Game sometimes will not allow me to make legal moves and second guesses causing way too many undos. Statistically, computer is way too lucky on doubles rolls.

### 3/5 — Computer Advantage

*2024-04-12, version 1.1.1*

I enjoy the Ad free component of this game, but I have to agree with another reviewer that the computer dice rolls are much better than rolls for me. If I leave an open man, the computer seems to roll one number that can hit me 75% of the time while I only seem to be able to do that to the computer maybe 25%. Playing the back game is usually advantageous but when the computer is bearing off, seldom are any men open. The dice rolls seem to allow men to be covered and if open, no dice roll will hit it.

### 4/5 — Good free app

*2023-12-29, version 1.1.1*

The dice rolls don’t seem rigged to me, the AI default setting is just hard to beat. Turn it down a notch and it’s a good opponent. Great to have a backgammon app that’s not stuffed with video ads. Only downside is that it doesn’t have a quick auto bear-off option.

### 2/5 — AI

*2022-11-06, version 1.1.1*

This would be great if the AI was set up to win a high percentage of the time. It always rolls the die in favour of the AI and not the human. Such a shame. Also Player v player just doesn’t allow second player to move.

### 2/5 — No challenge

*2021-11-06, version 1.1.1*

This app wins almost every time. I have played backgammon all my life. It’s no fun playing against computer. Needs a big fix to make this challenging, fair and fun. Deleting app.

### 4/5 — Dice truly random?

*2021-08-24, version 1.1.1*

The tutorial function and pip count are great ideas. The issue is whether the randomizer is working all the time for dice rolls. My test: I tested by placing the level at expert and always playing the tutor-suggested best move —so that it is in effect the computer is playing itself in expert mode. Still, the computer won the majority of times (it should approximate 50%).

Update: I keep coming back to this app despite the concern about the randomizer code -because of the tutor feature, pip count, and the indicator of the player is up or down indicator. Thanks for to the author for the reply to my initial review. One thought: Is it possible to generate the string of roles before play, and then to make that screen viewable at any time? That might address the concerns raised in these reviews and/ or ID the source of the problem in the randomizer? Again thanks for the game.

### 2/5 — 6,6; 6,6; 4,3; 4,4; 2,2

*2021-05-31, version 1.1.1*

...in AI’s final 5 rolls. Typical way the AI ends their games for the “win”. You will get one meaningless dbl, several very low rolls and several single bear-offs while that happens. Not to mention that that “win” started with AI having 2 checkers on the bar which got back in in 1 roll despite there being 2 open spots (avg time on the bar for AI is fewer than 3 rolls, yours will be 4-5). All the other allegations of perfect rolls going for AI and against player many more times than not are accurate. Too bad it’s so badly rigged; the interface is good. I have played bg for over 40 years and have played ~500 games on this app so this is not mere opinion. I have deleted this app.

### 1/5 — Why

*2021-03-03, version 1.1.1*

The game is free. It cpu is the best I’ve played. So why can’t you deliver random dice rolls that come close to resembling real life?

Why wouldn’t you?

So close to great, but after 2 month playing regularly, i can tell you, don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Unrealistisch

*2021-02-15, version 1.1.1*

Egal wie man spielt der Computer gewinnt fast immer

### 1/5 — AI WINS TOO CONVENIENTLY

*2021-01-29, version 1.1.1*

I enjoyed this in the beginning but one can only win a few times and then the dice ALWAYS throws the perfect roll and gets out too conveniently. Or when we each have 4 pips left who gets doubles? Of course. The rolls just aren’t fair to the human player at all. So away this game goes.

### 3/5 — Computer plays well but dice is not fair

*2021-01-25, version 1.1.1*

If you read other critical reviews the developer swears there is no cheating and the dice are rolled once. But it’s not probable game after game that the computer rolls perfect dice at critical moments when we know there is less than 1/6 chance. For example computer mostly wins the first roll. This is even before moving thefirst piece. That says it’s either cheating or has a software bug. If you are searching with recursion you might be rolling multiple times and picking the best one

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So rigged

*2026-08-06, version 1.1.1*

It’ll even glitch to win

### 1/5 — The game is 1000% rigged

*2025-09-03, version 1.1.1*

This game is absolutely rigged. I have played this game for over a year and it is statistically impossible to get the rolls that the AI gets. The question is, why???? Why rig a game against the player, there is no money involved. Just takes the fun out of it and makes it frustrating.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-09-26, version 1.1.1*

Played ten 3 point matches it out doubled me 63 to 26. I won one game out of maybe 25 games. I never had a game where I outdoubled the app. Why do they write garbage apps like this??

### 1/5 — PvP broken

*2024-09-13, version 1.1.1*

2nd player can roll, but cannot move pips.

### 1/5 — RNG Favors AI

*2023-05-25, version 1.1.1*

This game does not have a fair RNG. It heavily favors the AI. The algorithm is not fair between player and AI. Do not play if you want a fair game.

### 1/5 — AI Cheats

*2022-05-18, version 1.1.1*

The dice cheating in this one is pretty bad. Not the worst that I’ve seen, but it’s up there.

### 1/5 — Utter Cheat

*2021-08-30, version 1.1.1*

Talk about a skewed algorithm.
When you program a game to throw cheat dice in order to win, you're a cheat. Why can't games of chance be just that????

### 1/5 — Bob Allen

*2021-05-15, version 1.1.1*

This is a terrible terrible terrible game the randomness is so predictable as you can work read by the other reviews that people have said are used to think I was just bad but every time the computer seems to go first and every time I leave something unprotected he justHappens to come up with the perfect role and it’s not just every other time or something like that it’s every time and he’s just bogus and lying about how his artificial intelligence works it almost seems like he’s rolling the dice two or three times just to come up with the correct number I don’t know don’t waste your time on it

### 1/5 — CHEATS 24/7

*2021-04-26, version 1.1.1*

Cheats. Waste if time. Developers are liars and cheaters.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2021-03-20, version 1.1.1*

Just another backgammon game with rigged dice. One star for being free.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Strong player

*2025-10-18, version 1.1.1*

I’ve played all the BG apps and this one has the strongest AI I can play offline. Thank you! Dice rolls are completely fair and neutral, most people just aren’t aware of how much better this bot plays than the other apps.

### 5/5 — No ads, no pay only play

*2023-12-07, version 1.1.1*

The best free App for backgammon.

### 5/5 — Bestes wirklich umsonst Backgammon

*2022-09-04, version 1.1.1*

### 5/5 — By far the AI for backgammon

*2022-03-13, version 1.1.1*

Congratulations for the fantastic computer player

### 5/5 — Gammon is my game

*2020-08-06, version 1.1.1*

I really like this app over all the others I’ve tried and I’ll tell you why. I really like that the expert level plays at a perfect level from an AI computer playing itself millions of times. From this standard it rates my play against AI perfection. I have learned A LOT. People say the dice rolling is favored to the computer but I don’t find that at all. I consistently beat the computer and sometimes my rolls are hot and sometimes they are not.

### 5/5 — So fun, and educative!

*2020-02-25, version 1.1*

Plays great, love the tutor mode and all the great statistics and analysis of moves available. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Great game app!

*2019-10-16, version 1.1*

This is a great backgammon app! It’s free with no ads, clear display and very responsive. I haven’t used the learning features yet, but they look good. Top-notch!

### 5/5 — Very pleasant surprise!

*2019-01-26, version 1.0*

Most BG apps are not very good but this app is excellent. Good, functional graphics and an excellent AI opponent. Well worth the download.

### 5/5 — So Great!

*2018-11-25, version 1.0*

I have been looking for a good backgammon app for a while now. This was what I was looking for. So great to play before bed or with a friend. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — WOW!

*2018-11-23, version 1.0*

I didn’t realize backgammon could get any better but, as the title says, WOW! It just did!
