Stupid game. ### 1/5 — Dice rolls are not random *2026-01-31, version 1.7.180* I really like this particular BG App. Graphics and play are excellent. Unfortunately the dice rolls are not random. If you place a single chip, your opponent will roll the perfect die 100% of the time to capture your piece. Being a data guy, I kept track and it really is 100%. My sample size was 25 and the opponent rolled the perfect die 25 times to capture my pieces which is statistically improbable. It seems all these BG apps have the same algorithm which is very disappointing. ### 2/5 — Weird dice *2026-01-28, version 1.7.180* I see things happen with dice in this game I never see in real life. I’ve been playing enough where I can almost predict certain roles. Very frustrating. Resigning could be more obvious rather than just shutting down the game and letting the clock run out and letting your opponent sit for a minute waiting. Or, penalize with a backgammon loss if the clock runs out. Full of bugs that they won’t fix, I told them of a terrible bug years ago, they assured me it was fixed, yet it happened again recently. Do yourselves a favor, find another platform, these guys don’t care about the game or the players. Their buggy awful game allows players to not play full roll in certain instances while bearing off. Inexcusable basic error. They had the audacity to tell me they follow all official rules, when shown screenshots of the bug they told me they’d fix it sometime soon, and I needed to be more respectful. No, I don’t. These jokers couldn’t program their way out of a wet paper bag. I have the right to say it to their incompetent faces, and to warn others to avoid this game at all costs. Addendum: they say they fixed this bug with recent update. We’ll see. I will add more stars and details later, once I’m sure this has been fully resolved. Thank you for responding to my concerns. ### 1/5 — Avoid like pleague *2025-11-14, version 1.7.173* This is probably the only backgammon game on AppStore that is so rigged that is insane. Either extremely rigged, floded with hacks or HEAVILY FAVOUR RUSSIAN PLAYERS (BE AWARE!!!). Do NOT spend 1 penny on this app. You have absolutely zero chance against high elo players(russians) or in general players with a lot of coin. Absolutely zero chances. I’ve averaged 10-15k of coins for a long time and absolutely everytime you play with a high elo/coin player the five they hit is actually insane. You can be in the most favourable position ever but if they will need for example to hit 3 doubles in a row and number 4 3 times, they will hit that EVERY SINGLE TIME. Do yourself a favour and go for another game from another developer. I am actually shocked Apple still allows this fraud of a game to exist on AppStore. Basically in any except the simplest opponent the computer rolls dice that will have it win 85% of the time The game rolls doubles for the computer at triple the rate for the human player. Also the dice are set to give the computer the opening move 77% of the time. These statistics are not just pulled out of the air they were recorded over the course of 1,000 games after the company previously told me the rolls were all random and couldn’t be favoring the computer ### 1/5 — DICE NOT TRUE *2026-03-07* I’ve played this game for several years and everything about it is great except for two things, the dice and the win/loss ratio. Countless times I’ve rolled the exact same numbers multiple times in a row, way beyond what odds would dictate. I’ve rolled double sixes several times in a row, and one time at least 4 times in a row. Bearing off is equally consistently consistent. If you roll small numbers once, you will continue to roll small numbers several times in a row, trying to bear off. Very frustrating. If you are trying to come off the bar, you will roll numbers you don’t need way beyond what odds would dictate. These complaints apply to opponents rolls as well. They happen to my opponents as much as they happen to me. This makes it more fair but it doesn’t make it right. Depending on the day, you can win many times in a row and others you can lose many times in a row. It feels like the game is trying to control your ELO. If you play consistently, you can still easily win or lose many points in a row. I will be done playing for awhile and come back to see if anything changes. My experiences are very real and consistent. The game is completely rigged and unrealistic. However, I have a few suggestions that could make the dice experience much more realistic and engaging: 1. It would be great to have a manual and more realistic dice rolling option (if possible), where players can actually “roll” the dice themselves. Also, improving the visual design of the dice to look more natural would make a big difference. 2. Adding vibration sensitivity for rolling the dice would be amazing. For example, allowing players to roll the dice by tapping the sides of the phone twice, triggering a vibration-based roll. 3. Another cool feature would be motion-based rolling: when the phone is shaken continuously, it could play the sound of dice rolling, and as soon as the movement stops, the dice are rolled automatically. 4. Also Add haptic feedback when selecting pieces (before making a move). These small changes could make the gameplay feel much more immersive and realistic. You drop in, play a few games against real people (or the computer if you prefer), and leave as you wish. I wish there was a way to somehow flag people who just stop playing and make you wait the 60+ seconds to end the game. I’m not sure if all players know “leaving the game” would be the same as surrendering without additional penalty. Anyway, I love this app. Been using it for YEARS! Thanks developers!
