Now, the game is stuck on an ad and I’ve done everything I can figure out but bring it to where I bought it to see if they can help me. It's all truly random with no look-up tables that so many others use. ### 2/5 — 3,800 game veteran *2024-02-08* As you can tell, I’ve played this game a lot. I finally got tired of it. I don’t mind so much being stuck on the bar for multiple rolls while the game gets in on the first roll every time even if I have five points blocked. OK, that can happen. What I do not like is when the game should hit one of my pieces and doesn’t! Why did it not hit me? A real player would have. Also the game makes stupid moves. We all know how to play an opening roll of 6-1. See any backgammon sources and they all agree. So why doesn’t the game play it that way? Finally just lost patience with it. ### 2/5 — Gotcha! *2023-11-13, version 1.6* Not only does this game roll perfectly the majority of the time to blot you, it’ll roll doubles far more often than you. For the best part, the computer player started taking chips off the board before it even collected them all into its zone twice now… As for confirmation bias, it’s not. I’ve played Backgammon for decades and cannot recall seeing so, so many doubles rolled and perfect blot sets. Other than the rigging, or screwy RNG, it’s entertaining. ### 4/5 — Great Game *2023-04-30* Best Backgammon game I’ve played by far, only moans I have are when the opponent has a piece waiting to come on and You have a full block on, they shouldn’t be allowed a dice throw, waste of time and just wrong. Also I can’t seem to be able to use the doubling dice unless the opponent uses it first? It is anything but random. Out of four rolls in a row, snake eyes twice, double threes and double fours. The rolls either favor you every time or favor AI. However, it falls into the classic backgammon blunder of cheating to increase difficulty. It forces negative/bad rolls and moves on the player while maximising beneficial rolls/moves on itself. Do not play this game. It only has one tactic and that is to force you to leave yourself uncovered via bad rolls and then give itself exactly the right dice rolls to take your pieces. Every time. The game starts with a dice roll to determine who goes first, but since the last update why does it roll 2-3 doubles first off 95% of the time. This just wastes time and get really frustrating. Also on bearing off, I can be 30-40 pips ahead and offer a double, and it will accept it even though it has no chance of winning at all. So in that way it becomes easy to beat. I don’t have any issue with it throwing doubles etc as that seems to be pretty much well balanced. But it does seem to get the “right” roles “most” (i would say about 80%) of the time. Saying that I would still recommend it for beginners and intermediate players as it is a good app. ### 1/5 — Do not download!!!! *2021-04-03* Once this awful version opens, you can’t close it unless you restart your phone, it locks you on their game. You can no longer access any other apps, nor your home screen. I’m using an iPhone 11. Also, as a game of backgammon, it is so bad that you are not allowed to play a standard 6-5 opening move by moving a blot from your opponents number 1 pip to his number 12. This app should not be available on the App Store. Concerning and disgraceful. **Developer response:** Thanks. Would a double shift the balance from your winning position to its advantage?? Well…need I go on?? It doesn’t ALWAYS happen but often enough to make you question the fairness of it all!! Have moved on to Backgammon NJ as the dice rolls on there are audited for fairness otherwise I’d have paid to have ads removed. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback. For note, the dice rolls aren't audited in any way, their just the best random you can do. We know it can be frustrating if the Ai opponent is waiting on a 6 and the dice rolls a 6 it's only a 1 in 6 chance. Dice rolls realistically, in that - not the suspiciously always-rolling the exact numbers required for taking you off etc. that other games I’ve tried before this have been like. Computer does make different decisions too, not always playing the same each time. & occasionally offers a double, which makes me feel like I’m playing someone rather than a machine. I like that it keeps an overall score of wins/losses, so then I know when I need to go up a difficulty. The sounds also aren’t annoying either. The ads don’t ruin the game but I also don’t mind paying for a version like this one.
