The new turn-based format is terrible. I have to wait for hours, sometimes days for an opponent to move and no way to end the game except to forfeit. Give me my old format please!!

I also find it odd that when playing the computer at the hard level it almost always gets a double or the perfect roll to close me out after doubling the score/forfeit option

Great except when your connection is lost in the middle of an online game😖

Having a difficult time finding an online opponent when in Colorado, it searches for long periods of time until I get tired of waiting and switch to playing against the computer 😡

I agree with the previous reviewer, medium is the only level to play, but it still is frustrating. When in single player mode, the opponent rolls statistically more doubles ( especially when behind in pip counts) and rolls to take your lone man. On the other hand our rolls aren’t as “lucky”.  Most times, when using the doubling dice, the opponent doesn’t risk accepting a double. I think I’m going to delete this app. Game should be fun. Not frustrating.

This is the greatest game ever invented. Now there is more incentive to play daily with the new "daily goals" to achieve. This is the best app. If you could only download one, Backgammon would be it!

Set up auto finish when completely past opponent. Just let the dice complete the game with positive response after each roll. Still able to advance cube but don’t have to move pieces each roll.

This used to be a pretty good game, but it has devolved into unusable junk due to flaky network behavior and unresponsive tech support. Don’t subject yourself to the ongoing frustration; pass on this one.
UPDATE: as of 7/15/2026 (over a year from the original post), the app is still full of bugs keeping it from working with IOS 26, and they have told me they have no plans to fix them in the foreseeable future.

All of the games out there seem to want you to play online. This is it always the most practical. I found this Game to be very good. It's Difficult AI plays very well. It doesn't appear to cheat - like rigged dice rolls etc.

Always people to play against. Love plying it, mostly good people to play against, and can bypass those that are bad sports. Still the best app available. Has option to speak to other player, which is far better than others that allow abusive messages to be sent. Would only suggest shorter time allowed for others to move as some get stupid when losing. Also requires updating for new shape iPads

Love this game since the early 70's.We used a board back then and the Egyptians used stones. Best game since the beginning of time.
Only change to this version is when your opponent has had enough of you discipline and they just stop and leave the game, we're stuck for several minutes waiting for the game to give you the option of getting the win. Fix that lag time and this would be nearly perfect.
