### 4/5 — Bring back the guessing your BAC!

*2026-07-21*

I still find the app works well, but I really want to see them bring back the “guess your BAC” feature, because it is genuinely useful for building awareness about what you’re at. Please!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t do much

*2026-07-17, version 3.0.9*

The app is very unimpressive. Doesn’t do what the manual says. It’s also clunky because when you go to settings it doesn’t let you go back. You have to close and restart.

### 2/5 — Works Great. Changing the functionality was wrong

*2026-05-11, version 3.0.8*

BACTrack Mobile did a software update a few months ago (6-8 or so) and during that update they dropped (3) important and key functions of the backtrack mobile APP /!device that all use to be included with the purchase of the device.

1) self photograph or Image
2) GPS maps location of where the Breathalyzer took place with timestamp
3) an embeddable url link that you could share via text when sending results to other people. i.e. co-parents before or after custody exchanged.

These were the reasons I purchased the device in the first place. Now that they did the upgrade, this functions are no longer available. You have to pay for their monthly plans at like $79.99 / month. So from free... to $80 or up to $120 month for some plans.

From Free to $5 tor $ 9.99 / month I could maybe understand., but $80 bucks per month... absurd

Disappointed customer

### 2/5 — Backtrack new app

*2026-02-12*

The new app is very clunky. You have to turn off and on the blue tooth for each reading. It also doesn’t maintain all the daily readings. Previous app was great. They have wrecked a good product.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to leave a review — we're really sorry to hear the app has been crashing for you. That's not the experience we want for anyone. We've flagged this with our engineering team and are actively looking into it. In the meantime, a few things that sometimes help: make sure you're on the latest version of the app, try a full close and reopen, or if it persists, a fresh reinstall can clear things up. If you're still running into issues, we'd love to get more detail so we can track this down faster — feel free to reach us at support@bactrack.com (mailto:support@bactrack.com). We appreciate your patience while we work on this.

### 1/5 — Hardware is unreliable

*2026-02-08*

Regardless of conditions, the result is always “test incomplete.” I would suggest refraining from purchasing this device; it’s ultra cheap consumer (in my case non-functional) masquerading as prosumer. In other words, junk.

**Developer response:** We're really sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue — that's the last thing we want. We'd love to look into this more closely, but to do that we could use a little more detail from you. Could you let us know: what device and OS version you're using, what you were doing in the app when this issue occurred and roughly when this started happening? Any screenshots or screen recordings are a huge help too. You can contact us at support@bactrack.com (mailto:support@bactrack.com) with those details. We'll get this looked at as quickly as we can.

### 1/5 — New update requires account

*2026-01-29, version 3.0.5*

After years of the app working account free you are now REQUIRED to create one and sign in to use your device.

Blood alcohol data could be considered sensitive and I don’t trust you with it.

### 1/5 — Nightmare for privacy and liability

*2026-01-23, version 3.0.5*

Must create an account to use it (new with version 2, meaning there’s no good reason KHN, the developer, requires it). Your photo and results can become public, according to the TOS. If you get sued for something related to the app, KHN can take over your legal defense, but you have to pay their legal fees. INSANE. And those are just a few of the highlights of the problems with privacy and liability with this app.

### 1/5 — Loved it until…

*2026-01-15*

I began using the device and really liked it. It was easy, saved the info, provided what I needed. I purchased the App, pay a monthly subscription fee, and used it often. I purchased to record, show the pattern and provide information to dispute false accusations in a custody case. I used it regularly with most consistent uses the weeks my children were home. After more than 5 weeks of use… I blew in the device and the result was recorded and verified. 2 hrs later, after meeting with an atty who was planning to receive the info that day; it was gone! The app, the info, the crucial information… GONE! Now it’s seems I was dishonest, provided false statements re using device & then I am now being ordered to pay hundreds of dollars and required to take a blood test. The best part, I was paying $80 per month for the service. We called customer service and was told too bad. I am starting over to show from now until my trial date but loosing that info did damage I can’t begin to explain.
I won’t recommend, but I’m stuck at this point.
For casual use, it’s great. Don’t depend on it to actually provide anything beyond the day u use it, and have a backup plan for keeping track.

### 3/5 — Funktionen fehlen nach Update

*2026-01-06, version 3.0.5*

### 1/5 — Crash

*2026-01-06, version 3.0.5*

App won’t load since update… now useless product

### 3/5 — Requires a user account

*2026-01-03, version 3.0.5*

Why is a user account required to use a device that I paid for. I simply wanted to have a reading to monitor my ABV but instead I have to give my data away

### 1/5 — Total bait and switch

*2026-01-01, version 3.0.5*

I bought this product because I did not have to create an account to use it.

There is absolutely no reason why I should create an account just to check how much alcohol is in my blood system. By doing this, they basically bricked my device, and reneged on the original terms of the deal.

They should be sued for this, and I hope somebody does.

### 1/5 — Update locked me out!

*2025-12-29, version 3.0.5*

You updated the app and then it required me to log in again. I tried all of my passwords and it took none of them and then locked me out!! I went the entire Christmas holiday without being able to use my device. I emailed customer support days ago and have received no response! You have made my device a brick. Good job.

### 1/5 — App not work -

*2025-12-29, version 3.0.5*

This will not work with my older device. The prior app worked perfectly. Or is there a way to make it work?

### 1/5 — 動かない

*2025-12-26, version 3.0.5*

### 2/5 — Update sucks!

*2025-12-21, version 3.0.5*

Updated version is way too complicated. Original version was way easier to read and understand.

### 1/5 — Big brother is watching

*2025-12-21, version 3.0.5*

I’ve used a BACtrack breathalyzer for years to make sure I was free of any alcohol before I operated a vehicle. Today I was forced into a new app by these scum. When I didn’t agree to the EULA, my breathalyzer was locked out and made useless.
Absolutely criminal. What a piece of junk. Avoid.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The app change sucks

*2026-08-15, version 3.10.0*

You used to be able to just use the tool. Now it wants a little “TMI”….

### 1/5 — It’s confusing

*2026-06-23*

As above

**Developer response:** Thank you for leaving a review. We're sorry the app hasn't lived up to what you were expecting. We'd really like to understand what went wrong for you. If you're open to it, please reach out to us at support@bactrack.com, and we'll do our best to help or take your feedback back to the team.

### 1/5 — Stop

*2026-06-19, version 3.0.9*

Asking

### 1/5 — Sold as Anonymous, changed to account tracking

*2026-04-27*

Bought a BACtrack device years ago. The app opened up and you pressed the button to blow.

Now you have to agree to a wall of conditions, supply an email and a non-optional name. This isn’t what I bought. My fun device that I occasionally used with friends to estimate our BAC’s is now just another data tracking tool.

Just let me open an app and use what I paid for like it did originally. At first I felt annoyed it required an app at all, but the app worked fine. Now it wants account login and name info and a history of BAC tests. No thanks. Wish I had bought a version with the screen on the side, no app required. I would have recommended this with the old app. But certainly not with the current version that needlessly requires your data and personal info.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your thoughts — we genuinely appreciate hearing from you, and we understand this change feels like an extra step you didn't ask for. We recently introduced accounts to BACtrack to make the experience better over time. It allows us to keep your settings and data safe across devices and gives us a foundation to build more personalized features in the future.

We also want to be clear about your data: creating an account doesn't mean you have to store your readings. You still have full control — you can choose whether or not your data is saved, just as before. We know change can be frustrating, especially when an app you liked worked a certain way. We hope that once you've had a chance to try it, the experience still feels right for you. And if you have any questions about your account or your data, we're happy to help — just reach out at support@bactrack.com (mailto:support@bactrack.com)

### 1/5 — Latest update blows

*2026-04-25, version 3.0.6*

What happened to the blow countdown and the ability to send results through text message? Terrible update.

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2026-04-20, version 3.0.6*

Never got to try the app. I Recently got a BACtrack and installed the app and it crashes closed every time I try to open it. My phone reached the min guidelines.

### 1/5 — New update requires account and tracks you

*2026-03-29, version 3.0.5*

After years of the app working account-free you are now REQUIRED to create one and sign in to use your device.

Blood alcohol data could be considered sensitive and I don’t trust you with it. Also note in the App Privacy Report Bactrac App shows up as one of the highest network users and regularly connects to a number of advertising domains.

### 1/5 — New forced upgrade on app sucks!

*2026-03-26, version 3.0.5*

I do not want my information stored or my results stored on your app. I also do not want to sign up for an account! I bought this device for my own safety when I go out and now you’re forcing me to create an account to use a device I bought?? Also forcing me to store my results that should be PRIVATE!! Go back to the old version

### 1/5 — Just says notify BAC track support

*2026-03-18, version 3.0.5*

Won’t let me do anything because it says contract BACtrack support and they don’t know how to help

### 1/5 — Time

*2026-02-12, version 3.0.5*

After last update dont show time when im sober … why ?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — not connecting

*2026-06-25*

I find myself constantly having to hard close the app every single time I want to connect it to the Bluetooth on my phone… It is very annoying and was not advertised when I purchased it.

**Developer response:** We're really sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue — that's the last thing we want. We'd love to look into this more closely, but to do that we could use a little more detail from you. You can contact us at support@bactrack.com and provide device information and any screenshots. We'll get this looked at as quickly as we can.

### 5/5 — Money well spent

*2026-06-18*

This thing seems pretty accurate but time will tell
But it does take the guesswork out of your decision food for thought

### 5/5 — 👍🏻

*2026-05-28, version 3.0.9*

👍🏻

### 5/5 — PERFECT PRODUCT

*2025-08-31, version 2.10.0*

GREAT PRODUCT

### 5/5 — HealthKit integration is awesome!

*2024-12-06*

When it tells you to press the button to pair your device, it should be made clear that certain devices (such as the C6) will not pair with the app when pressing the button once. One tap actually does nothing, holding the button for a second turns it on, and you have to hold the button for 7 seconds to switch to app mode, at which point the device’s screen will no longer readout the users BAC, but instead just literally say “app mode”. It’s made clear in the instruction manual which comes in the box, but for anyone who threw it out before seeing that, there’s no way to ever know, because the app doesn’t explain it. What’s nice is it stays in app mode, if that’s how you leave it, so it’s not like you’ll have to do that every time. I strongly recommend it be updated to add that instruction to the pairing screen, but other than that, it does what it says, and the BAC reading seems to be very consistent so far.

### 5/5 — Invaluable!

*2024-03-23, version 2.8.3*

I have owned several breathalyzers over the years. This is by far the easiest to use. We have given them as gifts to friends that we have a hard time convincing not to drive.

### 5/5 — Easy to use and accurate

*2023-11-02*

Great to use on the go to ensure bac is within limits

### 5/5 — TUTTO OK

*2023-07-31, version 2.8.1*

Aggiorna i dati nell’app Salute
Funziona molto bene.

### 5/5 — Yo mama

*2023-03-08, version 2.6.98*

The device it self it an off reading but the app woth it seems to be 99% accurate

### 5/5 — Excellent gadget!

*2022-12-29, version 2.6.98*

It works as advertised!
It’s on my keychain all the time.
The App is fine. Instructions not there, but anyone should be able to figure out how to connect and use, with a bit of intuition.
Start using at home. Results will surprise you!
This is as useful as a current driver or walking license! Obligatory it should be. Take care.
