## What is BakePlanner?

When does the sourdough have to go on so the bread comes out of the oven at 6 pm on Saturday? BakePlanner works it out and reminds you of every step.

In BakePlanner a recipe is not just a list of ingredients but steps with durations. You choose “Done by” or “Start from”, and the app calculates the start time for the scald, the sourdough, kneading, folding, shaping and baking. “Turn on the oven” it adds by itself. Every step comes with a reminder on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The next step sits as a widget on the Home Screen and as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen.

IN THE KITCHEN
Bake Mode shows one step in big type, with its ingredients at the planned serving size, and reads it aloud if you like. Ask Siri for the next step, mark it done or push it back without touching the screen with doughy fingers.

BAKER’S CALCULATORS
• Starter TA: the recipe wants a starter at TA 150 and you keep yours at TA 200? The app converts the amount of starter and the water in the main dough.
• Replace flour: spelt instead of wheat, wholegrain instead of white. The water follows the new flour, with advice on handling it.
• Dough temperature: the water temperature for the dough temperature you want, with preferment and friction factor.
• Serving size or dough weight, as you like. Dough yield, hydration and baker’s percentages are calculated along.

CARING FOR THE SOURDOUGH
Recurring recipes such as refreshing the starter are planned anew by the app after each time. In the feeding diary you note the time to peak, the float test and remarks.

RECIPES
Photograph a recipe from a book or share a web page from Safari: BakePlanner reads ingredients, components and steps and turns “fold every 30 minutes, 4x” into timed steps. In the shared recipe database you find recipes from other bakers. They are translated on the device, with a glossary that gets scald, bulk fermentation and starter right. Your own recipes stay on the device until you publish them. No account is needed; signing in with Apple is voluntary.

SHOPPING AND KEEPING RECORDS
The shopping list is sorted by shelf and takes the amounts at the chosen serving size. The baking history keeps a photo, measurements and the result of every baking day. The top list shows what turned out best.

BakePlanner – say when the bread should be ready. The app works out the rest.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-10-29

NEW: YOUR BAKING DAY AS A PROJECT PLAN
• “Scheduled steps” now opens with a project plan: one lane per recipe, one bar per step as long as it takes, coloured by mixing, resting, shaping, oven and baking. Stretch and fold, turning the oven on and turning it down appear as markers on the step they fall into.
• The night collapses to a narrow band, short steps stay legible, hour ticks and a red “now” line give orientation, S/M/L sets the scale. Steps that run at the same time stand side by side.
• In portrait, time runs top-down; in landscape, left to right. Tap opens the step, a long press shows its full text and offers done and reschedule; with a mouse or trackpad, hovering is enough.

NEW: BAKING HISTORY WITH TOP LIST AND PHOTO CLOUD
• The baking history has four views: list, gallery, top list and photo cloud. The top list shows per recipe how often and when last you baked it, with rating and the newest photos. The photo cloud shows every recipe as a circle with its last bake photo – the more often baked, the bigger. The “Baking top list” menu entry is gone for it.
• A bake without a photo of its own shows the recipe picture in the list.

STARTER AND RHYTHM
• A recipe of sourdough, flour and water counts as a starter even when a step mentions the oven – sourdough and starter are the same thing. Only an oven temperature or a preheating step makes it a bread.
• The rhythm hangs on the start of the first step: feed at 8 today and, at “every 1 day”, you feed at 8 tomorrow. “Next feeding” and “Next bake” name that start and, while a plan is running, the date after it.

PLANNING AND RESCHEDULING
• When a recipe releases the steam in a step of its own, the oven is turned down as the loaf goes in; “immediately” in the recipe means the start of the bake.
• Rescheduling a step with its followers no longer moves the step itself twice. The sheet shows the current and the new time and the choice of affected steps at a glance.
• Privacy policy and legal notice can be opened from Settings.

### 2.0 — 2026-10-25

Version 2.0 brings the baker’s calculators (starter TA, replace flour, dough temperature), the feeding diary and the shopping list by shelf. All features are listed in the description.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-10

NEW: EDIT RECIPES IN THE DATABASE
• Your own published and private cloud recipes can now be corrected directly in the recipe database – no more deleting and re-uploading them.
• Administrators can likewise correct any public recipe – a typo or a wrong amount, for instance.

BAKE HISTORY WITH MORE DETAIL
• Record room and dough temperature, the real final proof, the flour you used, and a few words on the result for a bake.
• “Last time” shows these details right on the baking screen, where the next bake is planned.

DOUGH YIELD AND HYDRATION
• Every recipe now shows its dough yield (TA) and hydration across all components; a tap opens the breakdown into flour, water, starter shares, and ingredients that weren’t counted.

BETTER PLANNING
• A new reminder, “Turn the oven down to … °C”, when a recipe lowers the temperature during baking.
• If a step falls into the night, the app now suggests a date at which no step falls before the start of day or after its end.
• Recipes now open on Details; the schedule is only worked out once you choose the “Bake recipe” tab.

TRANSLATION
• Automatic translation of public recipes can now be turned off in Settings. A recipe then first shows the language it was written in, and you choose the language yourself through the globe symbol.

IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES
• The keyboard for entering the dough weight can now be closed with a Done button right in the row.
• User manual updated in all three languages.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-06

NEW: RECIPES FROM WEB PAGES
• Paste the address of a recipe page – BakePlanner reads the ingredients and steps and shows you the draft before saving.
• Even faster: tap Share in Safari and choose BakePlanner.
• You decide where the analysis runs: on your device only, or with the protected cloud AI, which is used only with your explicit consent.

BETTER PLANNING
• “Turn on the oven” now names the temperature to preheat to – even when the recipe words it differently, such as “at 250 °C falling to 220 °C”.
• Pre-doughs and sourdoughs are scheduled in parallel when they don’t depend on each other.
• Your own and public recipes are planned by the same rules.
• Reminders for steps that no longer exist are removed – also after an iCloud sync.

UNITS
• Units appear in the app’s language, including in imported recipes.

IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES
• Long recipes with many steps are shown in full in the baking view.
• Fixed three rare crashes, including one when editing a component that had been deleted in the meantime.
• The duration field stays above the number pad while editing.
• Revised English and French texts.
• Reported recipes are hidden for everyone more reliably.
• User manual updated in all three languages.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-03
