### 1/5 — App is now ruined

*2026-08-02, version 6.7.8*

Before the update you had options to almost any bullet on the market and now federal ruined it by removing it all. I’ve used this app for years now and will no longer be using it.

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2026-08-02, version 6.7.8*

This is a joke of an app now not worth your time or efforts

### 1/5 — Sucks now

*2026-08-01, version 6.7.8*

Was a good app. NOT ANYMORE!

Wish I could get my money back.

Federal took it over & deleted most of the non federal data. Spend your money & time on something else.

### 1/5 — The demise of a great app

*2026-08-01, version 6.7.8*

When this app first came out, it was great. A wide range of bullets and ammo brands. Now it’s just a federal app and is useless.

### 1/5 — Newest version is a joke

*2026-07-29, version 6.7.7*

This used to be the best ballistic app on the market with 1000s of bullets in the database. Now the database only has the bullets made by Federal or its other brands.

### 1/5 — DONT UPDATE!

*2026-07-20, version 6.7.7*

They nuked the majority of the projectile library in 6.7.7

### 1/5 — Library change after Federal Sponsorship

*2026-07-17, version 6.7.7*

Having used this app since its inception, it was the best in my opinion on the market.
Updated today and only have Federal, Speer and Remington bullets to choose from-very disappointing as I’ve used this app to select bullets for many cartridges over the years.
Gatekeeping information like this is bad practice and will affect my opinion, usage, and recommendations of app and its sponsors.

### 1/5 — Just plain sucks now

*2026-07-14, version 6.7.7*

This was my go to app for a long time. It’s absolutely tragic that it’s garbage after an update.

### 1/5 — Not good anymore

*2026-07-12, version 6.7.7*

No longer supports the large bullet selection it had before. Many options have been removed with the new update. Use Hornady app if you want variety with most brands/projectiles etc.

### 1/5 — Was good, now useless

*2026-07-10, version 6.7.7*

No more support of a majority of bullets on the market. Deleting the app.

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2026-07-09, version 6.7.7*

Was a fantastic app until federal bought it. Skip it and find something else. Had an amazing bullet catalog. They’re all gone. Even if you paid for the app.

### 1/5 — This now sucks

*2026-07-08, version 6.7.7*

I used to use it exclusively but now they have removed 90% of the projectiles.

### 3/5 — WAS great, now…

*2026-07-06, version 6.7.7*

Used the paid Advanced version for long time. Now, bummer… most of the loads have disappeared. And, the contact email address is invalid, same with the “send us a message” link in app and the website.

When selecting the G7 drag profile, it displays it as “G2” elsewhere within app views.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-06-30, version 6.7.6*

I’ve been using this program for as long as it’s been on the market. It’s the core of my reloading hobby. Federal, however, has turn it into a circus by eliminating nearly all the bullet databases and focusing on its own products. Seriously? Label me as very disappointed…👎

### 1/5 — Federal wrecked a great app.

*2026-06-27, version 6.7.6*

This was a great app until Federal bought it out. Excellent bullet library reduced to a handful of their own products now makes it almost useless. They also call G7 values G2 which is wrong and confusing. Look elsewhere…

### 1/5 — Now the drag models are wrong!

*2026-06-17, version 6.7.6*

So Sad, was such a good Ballistic Calculator, now after being bought by Federal, so many things were broken with their changes.

Now when you select the G7 drag model, the G2 shows up on the main page! There isn’t even an option to select a G2 model.

### 1/5 — I paid for information that has been taken off this app

*2026-06-05, version 6.7.6*

Been using this app for years. Paid a premium price for it too. Now you take away all the information I paid for. Either return the information or return my money.

### 1/5 — Federal dumps entire bullet catalog

*2026-06-01, version 6.7.5*

Excellent technically, but now hard to compare loads and have to enter your BC and bullet data manually.

I’d give this app a “5.” And pay $100 a year for it if it went back to having the full bullet catalog it used to.

Instead, big company buys up excellent product and then only shows their products in the menu.

### 1/5 — Library used to be huge

*2026-05-30, version 6.7.5*

Federal removed bullets and loads after taking over. No more pistol or shotgun slug info either. You may still find value in the ballistic solver but it’s a massive shame that the total accumulated library filled with data from just about every major manufacturer and some small one’s too - have been gutted.

### 1/5 — Was great, now not!

*2026-05-27, version 6.7.5*

I’ve used this app for years and loved it but since it was sold to Federal there have been few updates. The latest one actually removed most options from the database which has made it dreadful to use! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ruined a good ap

*2026-08-15, version 6.7.8*

The original application was great now federal owns it and they have removed all projectiles that are not owned by them. Don’t buy this app.

### 1/5 — Removed bullet options and loads

*2026-08-11, version 6.7.8*

App is getting worse not better. I can’t find Rimfire loads anymore. They have removed some bullet options that aren’t made by federal or parent companies.

### 1/5 — Used to be good

*2026-08-10, version 6.7.8*

Unfortunately, they ruined a great thing. The bullet library is extremely limited and no longer user friendly. Thankfully, all my data was saved.

### 1/5 — Now it is junk!

*2026-08-10, version 6.7.8*

I have used Ballistic AE for at least a decade now. It has always been a very useful tool.

I have recommended this app to literally thousands of friends, acquaintances, customers and students but never again. Most recently three days ago. I am in the process of notifying those I told this was a great app to let them know it is now junk.

But with the purchase by Federal they have removed most of the versatility and instead replaced it with brand specific features. So now Federal is the ONLY type of bullet in the catalog.

### 1/5 — Downhill fast

*2026-08-10, version 6.7.8*

The latest updates have gutted this app. I have used this app for more than 15 years and it’s sad to see all the data stripped out.

### 1/5 — Lost its muster after Federal branding

*2026-08-09, version 6.7.8*

Had this app for a very long time and used it regularly for all sorts of load data and ballistics proofing. Just went to look up ballistics on a projectile that wasn’t a Speer, Federal, or Remington brand and they’re all gone. I wouldn’t recommend this app anymore unless you only use those 3 brands of bullets, and the average guy that reloads is probably going to use other brands. Sad to see.

### 1/5 — Updated app is awful

*2026-08-08, version 6.7.8*

I used to love this app and have used it a lot for a long time. The current version is awful. Much of the data that I used regularly such as various loads by caliber and manufacturer are gone. There are limited options for some calibers such as .375 that used to have a large number of bullet options, and a decent library. The current version has almost no options. I am seriously contemplating dumping the app and using another. There was zero reason to make this app less functional and limit options. I am not normally one to write reviews or complain about changes, but this current version is a step 20 years backward

### 1/5 — Federal ruined it

*2026-08-03, version 6.7.8*

Used to be the best ballistic app now it sucks got rid of most of the projectiles and loads I do not recommend anymore!!!

### 1/5 — Bad decision

*2026-08-03, version 6.7.8*

I’ve had this app for many years. I was extremely disappointed to open it up this season only to find many of the loads and bullets had disappeared from the app. Poor choice from Federal. I’ll be looking for a different app.

### 1/5 — Not as good as it was

*2026-08-02, version 6.7.8*

Removed most of the bullet library

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best app for me

*2026-04-05, version 6.7.2*

Works great. UI is clean and useful. Has all the information without being over complicated

### 5/5 — Great app … needs watch support

*2026-03-05, version 6.7.2*

I love this app. Used it for years and it never disappoints. However, since starting to use the Ultra 3 Apple Watch, I really need the app to at least be mirrorable on the watch face for quick reference. Anything that you can do to make it work in conjunction with the Apple Watch (especially to offset the competition from AB on Garmin watches), it would be greatly appreciated!

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2025-05-24, version 6.7.2*

This app has allowed me to accurately put first shots on target at range. I’m still working on wind, but have a solid distance. Have not been able to print favorites which would help in prairie dog fields.

### 5/5 — The best free ballistics app

*2024-07-02, version 6.7.1*

Ive tried hornady, lapua, ballistic, ballistic ae, geoballistics and a bunch of junk that wasnt even in the running. Honorable mentions go to lapua for making a fantastic user interface to a complex calculator and geoballistics for the most intuitive and user friendly ballistic calculator ( would be good for teaching or almost anyone ). But i wanted to do more and this thing does it all. Its not easy or intuitive. Its more like a nuclear submarine without a manual :)

This does 3 things for me the others dont.

Ive got a 556 with a bdc reticle and the cartridge ive chosen does not match up with the 300, 400, 500 yard range marks on my scope. This lets me import a picture of my reticle and overlay my cartridges ballistics on top of it. Its tricky (gotta have zero in the middle and find some vertical moa you can scale to) but i could do it.

The thing i realized is this reticle is gonna be close to useless beyond 300 yd, so i wanted a zero that gave me the longest window +/- say 3 inches form line of site. This gives me a 1yd increment chart that displays inches over or under my zero and i played with crazy zeros like 219 yds to find a zero that is +/- 2.75 inches (my scope height) from 0-250 yds. Which happens to be .55 in high at 50yd, so i can aim at the bottom of a 1” sticker an zero shots to the center and not need to figure anything out except how to shoot:) up to 250yd.

Thirdly, ive got this program submoa that does group analysis of my shots and im scared of it lol. It crashes randomly. This does that. Its a little clunky scaling things but it doesnt crash. It works best 1 group at time (zoomed in) but i can bring in the same pic 3 times and it works. It seems to do some kind of bulk analysis on all of em with the same cartridge or gun saved as favorites.

Things to watch out for. All the diff sections like hud range trajectory seem to use their own variables in some cases even though you entered that else where. Learn to use favorites. That the key. Ive figured out how to fav a couple cartridges and that helps when you open it up and it defaults to blank. Many settings are in iphones app settings. Oh and change weather to g something. Mainly it does everything, you just gotta learn how to use it.

### 5/5 — Have used this app for years :)) but target function now crashes app

*2023-03-19, version 6.6.0*

I cannot use any of the target log function,
Causes immediate app close.

I re-installed the app, and subsequently lost years of favourites data and log information that has NOT successfully synced with iCloud even though it should.
I love the app, extremely useful!! But VERY disappointed at losing years of range/calibre data etc. Please fix target log and update latest bullets,
Thankyou G.

### 5/5 — great app

*2023-02-19, version 6.6.0*

my only issue that needs fixed everytime i try to add a target my app force closes please fix for latest IOS

### 5/5 — Over a decade of dead accurate ballistics

*2023-02-05, version 6.6.0*

There really isn’t anything that comes close to ballistic ae.

### 5/5 — Great program

*2022-12-24, version 6.6.0*

This app has worked great for me for 10 years. If I give it the right info waterline is usually a l9 or 10 at 600 or 1000 yards. I have used it to make hits as far as 3030 yards. The bullet library seems to be behind on some good bullets recently. Also it seems to have shut down the Taget feature.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2022-06-23, version 6.5.3*

Awesome bit of kit super easy to use and stunningly accurate

### 5/5 — Use with confidence

*2022-02-02, version 6.5.3*

I am one of those non tech talented souls, I, in fact, sometimes have a tough time spelling PC. This app though makes it very easy to zero at home and travel to a climate and terrain vastly different and shoot very well. Thank you!
