### 3/5 — Fine when there is an internet connection

*2026-07-19*

For the first time I was at a range which had no cell or internet service and I couldn’t get the app to work. The app froze when trying to enter the target distance. This happened on both my iPad and iPhone. Very disappointing

**Developer response:** We have this solved in an update about to release…apologies for this as it was never our design to restrict our users! Standby for update.

### 2/5 — Update broke the app

*2026-06-05*

This app was solid and one that was highly recommended for gathering data on the range. Until update 4.0. Since then, it has yet to work properly and presents inconsistent measurements. One example being: ‘Adjust to zero’ and ‘elevation/windage offset’ reflect two different group centers. If those both use inches, it should be the same number. If you have the old version, don’t update. If you are considering downloading, don’t until it’s fixed. There have been a few updates since the rewrite of the app, yet the core feature of providing accurate measurements has not been fixed. I have the old version, but work with 5 others who updated and now can’t use the app to get accurate measurements.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to write! We have both of these issues resolved and about to release it. Check back and revisit this review then please! The rewrite was a necessary move for future features and we have had to resolve a few bugs such as this.

### 2/5 — Update ruined it

*2026-04-23*

Was a great app for a long time. Really liked being able to put multiple POA / groups on a single picture.
Would have liked to see a feature where you can select two points for scale then have a pop up ask you how far apart they are, rather than having to always use a set value.

The 2-stars come from the latest update when ruined the accuracy and my trust. I don’t know what’s wrong but I did a tall target test which should have been 44” high and +/- 0.25” windage. The app gave me 2.63” high and 1.7” right. Nowhere near accurate. Ran it multiple times to ensure no user error. A rollout like this, especially for a paid app, is unacceptable. The core function is ruined and a simple test would have shown them immediately.

**Developer response:** We are addressing these issues. This update was a complete rewrite which is a foundation for some new functions, which you’ll get for no additional cost as you have for years. We’ve got a few bugs that we are working out…Offset is incorrect too. It’s unfortunate that you’re writing a bad review when you’ve used it happily for years and we never got a positive review in that time. Sadly, nearly all of our negative reviews are exactly this scenario and all were solved in just days. All of this will be solved very rapidly. ### 2/5 — Over priced crash prone tape measure

*2025-12-27*

I got this because it was UNFORTUNATELY being used as a standardized measurement tool in a friendly grouping challenge (1MADL 2.0 Challenge). Crashes 90% of the time. All it does is tell you precise grouping after you provide all the measurements yourself. >80% still behind a paywall. 100% would not pay $10 for it if I didn’t need it to compete (to prove results). Do not recommend. Nothing a picture with a tape measure or callipers can’t already do better and easier.

**Developer response:** Just seeing this! Our app is not 80% behind a paywall. That’s for a few Advanced Tools only. You pay once and own it for life; for many, that means they’ve had it for 7 years and have gotten updates and support the entire time. Please email me and we are happy to refund you! ### 2/5 — Ehhh

*2025-12-06, version 3.0.3+161*

It’s okay not great buggy… poor instructions. The share features suck and the save feature isn’t great okay for just getting a group size. Nothing else really

### 2/5 — Not for me

*2025-12-05, version 3.0.3+161*

One time pay and gathers no data = excellent! Trouble is it’s hard to use. A set of calipers would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. Wish I could get me $8 back

### 3/5 — Good app but a couple issues

*2025-10-20, version 3.0.3+161*

This is a good app for my needs. It’s easy to use, but adding POA and implants can be time consuming.

My recommendations:

Make the app identify impacts automatically, based on manually placed POAs.

Fix the slight shift that occurs when the user establishes the reference, POAs, and impacts.

Add caliber to saved report

Add functionality to allow user to add notes at an image level, POA level, etc.

### 2/5 — Surprise annual fee

*2025-01-05*

This is a great app but I was surprised to see an annual fee to unlock the “advanced” features that I thought were included based on seeing them in the preview picture. Paying annually for simple CEP calculations is silly.

Feedback for the developer: be more up front about your pricing model and what you charge annually for.

Update: I’ve paid for it, have been using it, and updated to two stars because it’s useful but not as much as I expected

**Developer response:** Hey! Apologies for this. We never intended for it to be a Gimmicky thing so this was a miss out our part and a miscommunication with Development Team. The Base App is a one and done. Only the Advanced Toolkit is additional yearly cost. Please see our FB regarding this and the new feature rollout.

### 4/5 — Does exactly what I want it to

*2024-11-19, version 2.0.8+137*

It’s good at showing moa and is pretty intuitive. The pdf export is also glitched.

### 4/5 — Caliber coverage is not enough

*2024-10-07, version 2.0.5.133*

Some states only allow straight wall cartridges for hunting. Better add some calibers like .350 legend and .450BM to the list

### 5/5 — Great Tool!

*2024-08-12*

Makes range day easier to check accuracy and keep you focused on better shooting technique. Great support is only a few clicks away if needed. Would definitely recommend!

### 2/5 — Not worth the money

*2024-08-07*

For the price I’d expect at least some automation. But no, keep your phone straight, don’t forget your 1 inch reference, pick that reference ends, pick your impact points, all manually. It shouldn’t be that hard to detect concentric circles or squares and correct image automatically. Target sizes are standard, so figuring out scale once target position is established and corrected also shouldn’t be hard.

**Developer response:** Automation is something we’ve considered but the reality is that the precision world is often stacking multiple rounds on top of one another. This restricts the ability to accurately pinpoint impacts. What we’ve decided is that we are going to automate some other portions of the sequence and leave marking impacts to manual!

### 4/5 — Does what I need

*2024-06-12, version 2.0.4+128*

It does what I need it to do. I use it to catalog load development. The extra fluff like the leader board and the public sharing is not for me but others I’m sure like it. It’s a good app.

### 5/5 — Just buy it 👍

*2024-04-30, version 2.0.2+122*

Works great. Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you shoot a lot. FYI, all the negative reviews are from when it wasn’t supported. But I can confirm it works on iOS 16.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — After every update app is broken

*2026-06-20*

Every time you release a new version something new is broken and renders the app useless. This time I can‘t safe the result anymore. This is getting annoying!!!

**Developer response:** (Update with correction is live) We understand and it’s far more troubling for us…we were forced to do a full rewrite with a clunky handover from previous Developer and it’s costing us! How long have you been using the App and did you ever write us a positive review during that time or is it only now that you’ve decided to write a review?

Either way, please help us make things right! Shoot us an email and will get your issue sorted.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2026-05-06, version 4.0.3*

App crashes every time I get to the last step to review my shots.

### 1/5 — App freezes on splash screen

*2025-06-08, version 3.0.2+157*

App will not open. Worked fine on iPhone 12 but will not open on my iPhone 15. Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Major Features Locked

*2024-10-24, version 2.0.8+137*

Most of the major features are locked behind a per year fee. After buying the app, I don’t expect to pay for the features that should have been included in the beginning. I would not have purchased the app had I known this. There are plenty of free apps that do what this one wants you to pay twice for. I will be requesting a refund.

### 1/5 — Negative

*2024-10-23, version 2.0.8+137*

All this app does is measure your group. When I purchased it I believed that it was a true ballistics app.. not so. Should be called the “group measurement” app.
I would like to get a refund but can’t figure out how to request it.

### 1/5 — Developers didn’t listen

*2024-05-21*

The previous update took away the return feature that allows you to use the overlay data from the previous target with only having to change select data rather than starting all over and entering everything all over again. Y’all made an update and still didn’t put this feature back in. This app is useless and a hassle. I’ve wasted my money. This app is no better than the FREE Frankford Arsenal app.

**Developer response:** Please send an email to ballisticxapp@gmail.com so that we can get to the bottom of your problem.

### 1/5 — No longer greatness

*2023-08-19*

It used to be 5 stars when it was supported. Now, on iOS 12, it won’t even start. On iOS 15, it asks for a login.

The description here says it has a “not now” option for the login; it doesn’t. If it’s there, it’s layers into some login path.

Developer’s website would not load, so no longer supported apparently.

**Developer response:** Send me an email and we will get this sorted! Ballisticxapp@gmail.com

### 1/5 — Still Broken

*2023-08-08*

Get the "Grey Screen Of Death" after I import a photo, designate 1", and select range distance...This is on an Ipad Mini running the very latest iOS

**Developer response:** This has been sorted! Please revisit your review/rating. Thanks!

### 1/5 — A Fuir

*2023-06-23*

### 1/5 — Customer Service is Non-Existent

*2023-04-14, version 1.3.4+88*

Been trying for three months to get someone at customer service to help me reset my password. No response.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Richtig gute App

*2026-04-24*

Nutze die App häufig und finde sie einfach praktisch. Find es super, dass man jetzt auch die Referenzgröße variieren kann. Weiter so 👍🏻

### 5/5 — Suggested feature

*2026-01-23*

The app is great, I’m writing this review as a simple suggestion to make it better. a great feature would be the ability to convert ZTA from MOA to clicks, based on the conversion value entered in the settings, for example if my scope is 0.25 MOA / click, ZTA should be multiplied by 4 instead of me having to open the calculator.

### 5/5 — O melhor !

*2025-12-12*

Essencial para os bons atiradores

### 5/5 — Bom

*2025-10-13*

Muito bom

### 5/5 — Great AP

*2025-09-05, version 3.0.3+161*

Use this all the time. Great way to keep records, document different ammo, record best ever groups.

### 5/5 — Everything you need!

*2025-08-10*

Outstanding app for the data driven shooter. In the past couple updates this app has gone from good to great, due to the addition of their composite group function; this lets you combine groups from different points of aim into one aggregate (AKA composite) group. To my knowledge this ability was previously only available on the On Target TDS computer software. I hope this app never becomes discontinued, I think subscribing for $10 a year is totally worth it to ensure that doesn't happen.

### 5/5 — Next Level Group Pics

*2025-06-11*

I have used this app for a number of years now and it has worked very well overall. It has had a few issues that have all been resolved, and customer service has been great! It is also an accurate app when it comes to the measurements. I have tested the results up against my manual calipers and it has been within .01” +/- which to me is acceptable for a camera phone app.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-03-26*

Great app for measuring group size and adjusting optics. Best $10 I’ve spent in a long time!

### 5/5 — Excelente

*2025-01-06*

O único ponto a ser melhorado já está previsto nas próximas atualizações que é incluir a arma, munição e luneta no resultado

### 5/5 — I enjoy this app.

*2024-12-22*

I have used software to measure groups back when it was only available on a desktop computer. I get a kick out of offering feedback and it incorporated into updates. Previous to Ballistic X I was using On Target.
