## What is BANDANA?

BANDANA is a free app for indie bands and independent music venues to run shows together. Bands organize songs, set lists, and rehearsals. Venues run a booking calendar, open mics, and ticketing. Both sides meet on the same gig page, so nothing gets lost between the booking email and the stage.

No per-member charge, no trial, no card. Sign in with a magic link or Google — no passwords.

FOR BANDS
- Songs with the chords sitting above the lyric they belong to, not in a separate document.
- Set lists you build by dragging songs into order, with a "maybe" section for undecided ones. Export to PDF or share a read-only link with a sub who has no account.
- Chord transposition across all twelve keys, with automatic key detection and slash-chord support.

- Rehearsal recordings: record or upload audio per song, download as MP3, and keep listening with your phone locked.

Bands are private and invite-only — there is no public directory. BANDANA is free to use. When a venue sells tickets, the revenue goes straight into its own connected Stripe account — BANDANA only takes a flat 25 cents per ticket, with no percentage of the ticket price and no monthly fee. Stripe charges its own standard processing rate, and each ticket can either absorb these fees into the listed price or pass them to the buyer at checkout.

Maybe I’m biased (because I built it 😉) but I’ve been dreaming of an app like this for years. A single place to manage all my band’s songs, set lists, and practices. I also use it regularly to manage an open mic and jam I run in Harlem and it’s made everything by so much smoother. Offline access. Your songs, set lists, and gigs stay available when you don't have a signal. Anything you've viewed recently is there when you need it.

A fresh new design overhaul with bold, edgy, and intuitive styling. Several minor bug fixes and loading improvements implemented.  An in-app feedback and rating prompt for you to share your thoughts, privately or publicly.

### 1.6 — 2026-05-11

Smarter scheduling. Time suggestions for band practices are now a lot closer to the times your bandmates are actually available. There's also a new heatmap that shows the days and times your band is most free.

Email reminders for bands on a gig line-up. Bands now get notified when a gig's date or time changes, when a show gets cancelled, and when tickets go live so they can start promoting. All reply straight to the venue.

Claim your venue from a booking email. If a venue owner isn't on bandana yet, the booking email now sends them to a claim screen. Once claimed, they get a welcome email pointing to their venue page.

Smarter line-up claims. When a band claims a placeholder spot on a gig line-up, bandana checks if you already have a similarly-named band — so typos by the venue are caught before they become a problem.

A few venue tools. Default start times for new events, the Notes field on the calendar is clearly internal-only, booking notifications go to your reply-to email, and bands can link a venue event as a related event.

Smoother on iPhone. The "open in app" banner now has a Get button for Safari users without the app. Sticky buttons sit above the banner instead of getting covered. Dialogs don't pop the keyboard open uninvited. And the app loads faster thanks to lazy loading.

Set list navigation. When you open a song from a set list, you'll see prev/next buttons and an X/Y counter so you can flip through without bouncing back out.

Easier gig coordination. A new shareable Gig page lets venues request bands add their stage setup, manage guest lists, and see everything for the night in one place — even before they have an account.

Lineup claims for venues. Venues can list bands on a gig before those bands are on bandana. When a band signs up, they're automatically connected to the gig they were booked for.

Eventbrite publishing. Venues can now publish events directly to Eventbrite, including event image, ticket pricing, lineup, and band descriptions. Edits stay in sync both ways.

Smarter songs. Import lyrics and chords from a URL, paste raw text, or let bandana auto-detect the key. Navigate prev/next through your set list while viewing a song, and the editor handles slash chords and decorated chords more reliably.

Better booking flow. Public booking forms preserve band info across login, show a clearer loading state, and send cleaner confirmation emails with working reply-to addresses.

House Band mode for jam sessions — perfect for hosts who want a dedicated backing band on stage.

Smoother on iPhone. Dialogs no longer pop the keyboard open the moment they appear, the Welcome screen returns you to the top of your dashboard after setup, and sticky action buttons no longer get covered by other UI.
