### 4/5 — Alan

*2026-07-09*

Found it easy to follow would recommend it

### 2/5 — Banjo tuner app

*2024-01-20*

It doesn’t even work half the time and is very hard to know what you are supposed to do

### 4/5 — Ok

*2020-01-25*

Ok for people who have good hearing, but not good for use in noisy environment. Lacks a visual.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2017-06-23*

Don't waste your time down loading. There's no microphone use within the app to read your tuning.

### 2/5 — Its ok

*2017-06-12*

It's ok, I don't have great hearing. It was difficult for me to here each tone!

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2016-11-10*

Garbage

### 1/5 — Bad

*2016-09-14*

Sound cuts off

### 1/5 — Don't download

*2016-08-06*

Pitch is off and the note stops playing before you can adjust your knob.

### 1/5 — Does what it says, but why does it exist?

*2016-04-24, version 1.5*

As stated, it plays the 5 notes, which sound like they were recorded with an original iPhone. There is a photo of a banjo in the background, so it's kinda banjoish. However, this useless piece of cr-app appears to only exist to run ads.

### 1/5 — Not a tuner

*2016-01-21, version 1.5*

This app does not work as a tuner, it only plays the notes of each string on tap, so you can only tune if you have three hands and an ear for notes.

### 2/5 — Garbage - even for being free

*2015-11-20*

The notes sustain for about half a second and you have to keep pressing a button to ring the note again; there's no time to get back to the banjo to adjust in time. Also, there's more than one note being played at a time. Second star is for aesthetic appeal - simple design is nice but functionality executed horribly.

### 1/5 — Beware

*2015-08-10*

Downloaded this free app and was scammed through a chance to win an iPad. Do not respond to any messages!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rarely works but does have ads!

*2025-10-04*

It worked the first few times but you have to tune by ear. Last few months it just doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — No sounds

*2025-07-08*

Made no sounds when a string was selected. Useless unless I’m missing something…

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-04-28*

Does not do any tunings other than G. Even that feature was not good. Ads in the way. Skip this garbage.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-11-06*

On my iPhone, this is a picture of a banjo with the standard tuning open string notes beneath it. Pressing the open string notes does nothing. It seems like it primarily exists to serve up ads across the bottom and on the info screen. If those buttons actually worked, I still wouldn’t call this a tuner - it would be a tuning reference, much like the recorded reference notes that start off a lot of banjo tutorials.

### 1/5 — 👎

*2023-06-17*

only plays pitch

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-01-23*

No audio in or out. Totally pointless.

### 1/5 — Boo

*2021-10-11*

### 1/5 — Hot garbage

*2021-08-27*

Useless

### 1/5 — Rubbish for beginners

*2019-05-11*

The app plays a sound you have to match.
Hard to match the sound for beginners.
Does not listen to the banjo.

Rubbish.

### 1/5 — The notes dont ring long enough

*2017-08-04*

Shame

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Review

*2021-11-02*

All I need is a tuner that works… this works for me… it plays the pitch… it may not work for those who can not keep the pitch in mind as your string is played… but years of accapelo singing allows me to keep pitches in mind… it may not work as well for others but to me it’s all I need.

### 5/5 — Simple & effective

*2015-12-07, version 1.5*

Love it and use it constantly. I need the note to cut off so I can tune properly so no complaints on the duration of the note played

### 5/5 — Amazing!!

*2015-05-29, version 1.4*

Banjo tuner is incredible and so simple. Just click and tune. Couldn't be better and always gets my banjo (Sara) back on track. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Simple and easy to use

*2014-12-30*

Provides you with the notes, but does not "listen" to your instrument and tell you if you're sharp or flat. This was fine for my needs. Easy to use and nice design.
