For the QBank- When you download your multiple choice quizzes it locks up and kicks you out when you are done with the quiz. Or if you manage to download them once you finish and sync it does not sync or update that you have completed them. It is extremely frustrating because you end up having to go online to do the quiz again since you have taken it but it doesn’t update or glitches. So either way, if it glitches it throws you out when you finish the quiz and doesn’t save your effort. Or if you manage to finish without a problem and close it well it screws up the sync and you end up doing the quiz twice to clear it from your tasks. For the audio sync it is just not that user friendly. You have to find the day you want every time and go to the video and download but you can’t find your downloaded files quickly or access them easily without hunting. Then if you manage to download the audio it doesn’t keep track of what you have downloaded and watched or not. You have to keep track somehow on your own which is a bit of a pain when you are on the go and trying to use drive time to listen. The iPad version is the same. When it works it’s great but who needs to be frustrated while trying to study. Also it would be nice if you could split the screen while using an iPad. Great way to take notes while in live classes. Great material provided I could actually watch it. ### 4/5 — Would be perfect with a few tweeks! *2020-08-27, version 8.0* During my studies I have really enjoyed having access to the mobile app! The reason I gave it 4 stars was for two reasons. First, it would be awesome to be able to start quizzes on the app. I’ve noticed I have to start the quiz on the desktop site in order to do a quiz on the mobile app. I have also noticed if I pause the quiz I’m taking on the mobile app, my answers do not get saved. Second, after starting my final study plan, I saw that I do not have access to it on the mobile app which is a total bummer. Other than that it is pretty user friendly and a great resource when I need to do some studying but can’t take my laptop with me. ### 3/5 — Some quizzes disappeared... *2020-06-06, version 8.0* Some of my quizzes suddenly disappeared from my the “review past quizzes tab” I wonder why this happened. I did everything recommended by the tech support, but it continued to happen. Also, the more I used the app, it started to auto-submit quizzes without letting me finish, or sometimes the minute I submitted, it showed as if submitted without any questions answered. When you message tech support they cannot recover they quiz because it does not appear anywhere, so you end up sounding crazy...”like, I was doing it right now, it was in front of me etc.” Also you will not able to even review the essays graded. Cannot do anything related to the essays. In addition, the questions do not have the percentage of students who picked each choice as in the website, so you won’t have this feedback working from the app. ### 3/5 — Helpful on the go, but minor annoyances *2020-03-11, version 8.0* This app is relatively easy to use and generally great for bar review on the go. I like to use it while I do cardio at the gym and run through flash cards BUT if you exit out of the app for even just a couple minutes it logs you out completely! I have to constantly log back in and then re-download all the topics. Super annoying, I wish they could figure out a way to fix this! ### 4/5 — Overall a good app... when it works *2020-03-08, version 8.0* Constantly crashes on iPad and iPhone during videos. ### 2/5 — Could be better for the price paid for bar prep *2019-08-09, version 8.0* The title says it all! My app will be in the middle of a video and close for no reason. It doesn’t link up with what I’ve completed online so I have to go through stuff again to get the box checked or pick to solely do my prep on my phone OR computer. Additionally, I don’t like that if I have to exit a video halfway through (or the app quits on its own), the video doesn’t save my spot, I have to try to remember when I left off or watch the whole thing again. Also, the video sound and lips don’t match up (I have this issue on desktop too). Some pretty annoying glitches given how much is paid for the program. ### 2/5 — Don’t use for anything important *2019-07-05, version 8.0* Good luck using this for QBank questions. More than once I have spent a good deal of time answering a series of questions only to have the app register NONE of my responses. Makes it impossible to keep track of how I’m doing quiz-to-quiz and very frustrating considering how long it takes to work through the questions. The browser-based Kaplan program is buggy, too, but not quite this bad. If you are looking for a bar review course, be warned that the Kaplan tech is sub-par. ### 2/5 — Pointless *2019-07-05, version 8.0* It really it’s pointless to have the app if you can not use it on the go. Several times, the quizzes have crashed on me. It has occurred on both my phone and my IPad so I know it is the program if it downloaded on two different devices. I have lost everything. None of my quiz results recorded after wasting an hour of time time doing them. OR EVEN WORSE the quiz shows my results as if I failed on the answers, as if not answering any questions. Which ultimately lowers my average school. Now I have to wait an hour for Kaplan to reset my quiz bank. Who has time for that when you are studying for the bar. On the bright side. Streaming lectures live seems to work pretty well. ### 2/5 — App is glitchy *2019-07-03, version 8.0* App has various little glitches - when there are several videos for one unit, it is unable to transition automatically from one to the other; sometimes it just turns off; sometimes the audio doesn’t work and you have to restart the app; quizzes often don’t get saved midway... ### 3/5 — Decent but can use improvements *2019-06-06, version 8.0* Best feature is being able to choose video or audio streaming option for videos. I always have issues doing multiple choice from the qbanks. So good for on-the-go lectures but bad for trying to select individual topics for practice questions—I can only choose all or none. ### 4/5 — Great, but would love more options! *2019-05-21, version 8.0* Makes studying super convenient! But when you steam audio, why can’t you increase speed by 1.25 like on desktop? Show explanation in the moment in MBes. Wonderful. The actual use of the app - terrible. The integration into iPhone - HORRIBLE. the actual memory of where you left off to pick up. Garbage. They need to re do the whole app. Make it more aesthetic while they’re at it. More iPhone friendly. Able to play when iPhone locked like so many basic features lacking. We appreciate your support! ### 1/5 — Needs improvement *2022-03-29, version 8.2* The app doesn’t sync well with desktop. My videos often crash. I can’t control the speed within the app like I can’t via desktop. The app automatically signs me out! I absolutely hate the app! ### 1/5 — Sync problems *2020-09-19, version 8.0* If you finish a quiz on the app and then log into the computer version, the system overwrites you’re results (i.e. erases) and there is no way to recover them. This happens even if you don’t open up the quiz on the computer. This means that you can’t analyze your results. Also, you can’t start a quiz on the app unless you’ve started it first on the computer and then suspended it. ### 1/5 — Would not recommend *2020-02-04, version 8.0* Would not recommend this course. No live instructors and course covers more topics than necessary instead of highly tested subjects. Videos are also very lengthy and not great since professors are literally reading from a book. Also, not enough examples are given in video lectures. ### 1/5 — Quizzes improperly scored *2020-02-01, version 8.0* I have had to request two quiz resets, because the app either doesnt record my responses and mis-number the questions. I was hoping this would be a great tool for bar prep on the go, but it is not. Do NOT complete any checkpoint quizzes in the app. The MBE question banks are hit or miss. This apps need major updating. ### 1/5 — No audio *2019-03-14, version 7.4.0* The videos don’t have audio on my iPhone X for some reason. I’ve tried everything I can think of and there’s just no sound. Made sure sound was on for video, volumes all the way up. My sound works for every other app but Kaplan review for some reason so even though this would be really helpful to listen to while driving the lack of sound on the lectures has rendered it useless for me. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2018-11-23, version 7.4.0* You have to do a full sign in ever time you use the app. When you download courses to study, it does not stay on your phone and you have to re-download it. When choosing the Q bank for a default it doesn’t select it and keeps sending you back to settings. ### 1/5 — Workable *2018-07-09, version 7.3.1* This app is almost a replacement for the desktop version except for the fact it automatically logs you out of the app and deletes all downloads. So every time you open the app you have to relog in and redownload everything. I would use this app almost exclusively if this weren’t a problem and is why I’ve rated the app so low because it makes it almost unusable to rely on. ### 1/5 — Decent app if you don’t mind redownloading every time you use it... *2018-06-10, version 7.3.0* When I’m able to login, the app is fine. It’s a little dated looking, but functional. The problem is that the app only lets me login once per download and then to login the next time, I have to delete the app, redownload it, and login again. I’ve tried it on three different devices, and I get the exact same result on each. While this isn’t the end of the world, it’s incredibly inconvenient and wastes valuable prep time. Coupled with the fact that one week into the program Kaplan informed me that my books were on backorder and wouldn’t arrive until nearly three full weeks into the program, I would strongly suggest using barbri if you can afford the price difference. ### 1/5 — Glitchy *2018-02-08, version 7.2.0* This app is so glitchy. I have re download it every time it closes which is really frustrating and sometimes the videos are so slow to play that I lose my opportunity to work through a lecture (like on my very limited window of time during my lunch break). The app needs a lot of work. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Awesome On-the-Go Study Platform *2022-12-23, version 8.2* This app makes it easy to maximize studying during the “gray time” between events (traffic, air travel, waiting rooms, etc.). The content is easy to navigate and accessible on my phone; all I need are headphones and I have what I need to stay on too of my studies. The access to the quizzes are amazing and extremely helpful. The only critique I have is the associated documents on Adobe Digital Editions app are difficult to navigate on an iPhone. I use it on iPhone, 2 comps and an iPad, whatever is under my hand, and the progress is always saved. Also, I like navigation - it’s easy to find needed material. ### 5/5 — The App is very useable *2019-02-28, version 7.4.0* I enjoyed the app and was able to use it to listen to lectures on a 16-hour trip last week to return to my law school in New Mexico from California, to take the Bar exam. The audio is just as useful as video, though it would be nice to be able to back up 10 seconds, which the audio on my iPhone cannot do. (I don’t recommend taking timed quizzes while driving, however.) One feature on the app is that the QBank quizzes light up the correct answer in green and the incorrect ones in red. Although this is attractive, it prevents me from being able to cover up the correct answer choice (which, on the website, is along the left edge of the page). I prefer to be able answer again on the questions I got wrong. Simply having the answer choice button on the left of the screen light up red or green — whole leaving the answer choice without a color shading — would accomplish this. ### 5/5 — Calendar *2018-05-17, version 7.2.0* Calendar and assignments need to be correlated to the bar you are taking and be a mirror of the computer.
