## What is BarbellBeat?

There's one question I kept coming back to during my workouts.

Why does everyone rest for the same amount of time?

Some people recover fully in 60 seconds.
For others, their heart rate is still elevated after 90.

Yet most training still runs on a fixed timer.

So I made this.

BarbellBeat uses your Apple Watch to track how your heart rate
recovers between sets, and tells you when you're ready for the next one.

- Real-time heart rate recovery tracking
- Haptic alert the moment you've recovered
- Every workout and rest interval saved automatically

Train by recovery, not by the timer.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-08-11

BarbellBeat 1.3.1

- Improved stats chart — The recovery trend is now displayed at equal session intervals, making it easier to read even with irregular workout gaps.
- More accurate iCloud sync status messages for each situation.
- Feedback channels — Send us your thoughts via email or KakaoTalk open chat from the Info tab.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-24

- iCloud Sync — Your workout records are automatically backed up to your iCloud. Records are restored when you switch devices or reinstall the app, and sync can be turned off anytime in the Info tab.
- Personalized recovery data (HRR30) is now restored when you reinstall the Apple Watch app.
- Refreshed design — The History, Stats, and Info tabs have been redesigned with clearer hierarchy and more readable charts.
- Light mode — Choose your display mode (System, Light, Dark) in the Info tab.
- Chart improvements — Fixed point-label alignment and small-sample display issues.

All data stays on your device and in your own iCloud. Nothing is sent to third-party servers.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-23

Major improvements to recovery measurement, plus a new
stats screen to track your recovery capacity.

Improved target heart rate
Rebuilt how the recovery target is calculated so it stays
accurate from your first working set through the end of
your session.

Personalized recovery
BarbellBeat now measures how much your heart rate drops in
the 30 seconds after each set (HRR30), and adapts your
target to your own recovery rate over time.

New stats screen
See your recovery rate, how it changes over weeks, and a
set-by-set breakdown of each workout.

Also
- Set-level heart rate details
- Reminder haptic if you rest too long
- Redesigned info screen

### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-16

Improved rest accuracy early in your workout.

Fixed an issue where the recovery target could be set too high
right after warming up, so you get accurate timing from your
first working sets.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-07-14

Improved rest measurement during longer workouts.

Your recovery target now adapts to your actual heart rate
throughout the session, so late-workout rests stay accurate
even as your baseline rises.

- Added a first-run hint for ending a workout
